We had the suite with a balcony and lake view. The balacony was quite big and the view was uninterrupted as the lodge was elevated. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of room. The managers were friendly and suggested us to go to Wairakei Terraces which was set amongst gardens and had three natural spa pools with varying temoeratures, we loved it. We akso went to Huka falls which was great. The walk to town was about 25 mins, but a flat walk, or you could drive as there is a car park there. We walked to dinner in town both nights. There are also some closer restauramts before you get to town, if you dont want to walk far. Unlike the accommodations on the esplanade, The baycrest balconies have the view without the cars going past your balcony. This is a plus.

We really liked our apartment with its big bathroom living room and bedroom and the view of the lake. The thermal pool was great for relaxing and we then had a spa bath for which we were even left bath salts. The laundry worked well for us and it was very nice to come home every day to a clean and smartly made up room. We enjoyed the stroll into Taupō and found an excellent fish and chip shop called Grasshoppers just up the hill, the Amazing Indian in town was a delicious takeaway too.

Great location, 5mins walk to the beach. Ample parking. Easy checkin. Large room (family room with ground hot tub, Room 8). Set of 4 pool towels and set of 4 bath towels (all on warmers). Kitchen was fully equipped with kettle, electric cook top, french press, microwave, refrigerator. The laundry room was next to our room, and it cost 8nzd to wash and dry. The inground tub filled with hot thermal water and cool water. There are a sweeper and pan to clean up any debris from trees before filing the tub.

The hotel swimming pool was very deep (not particularly safe for swimmers who are not strong) and was FILLED with dead mosquitoes in the water. It was quite alarming and scary. The water was quite hot and relaxing. There was some floatation devices (tubes) to help.

Soo clean and floor plan was great style was great loved the outdoor private hot tub was amazing pool is amazing doordash found the room easily. I love that baycrest has fully stocked bathroon and coffee station, kitchenette is cute. Heated floors worked great, staff are very friendly.

The bed was uncomfortable looked spectacular though, could do with better lighting in the garden and larger towels would be nice especially for relaxing by the pool or hot tub. Biggest dislike is we didnt stay longer 🫶

This is a pleasant lodge with an outdoor hot tub that was great for a private soak in the morning. Staff were friendly and responsive when we had a minor issue with the provided PayTV. The pool at the hotel is a nice size and the location is good for a stay of a few days. We loved the many things to do around the area - the highlight being Orakei Korako Cave & Geothermal Park, a 30-minute drive to the north.

As a minor criticism, ventilation in the bathroom wasn't good and it steamed up quickly. There were also patches of mould on the walls near the hot tub, reflecting the need to clean that area regularly with the steam created. The parking spots are also hard to navigate with very narrow spaces - it's probably a real challenge in the busy season. Also, it didn't help that the street was closed off for works - the property could have advised of this in advance.

I loved everything about this place. All details had been thoughtfully taken care of such as full sized hand & body wash and body creme as well as a flannel for makeup removal. A proper large bed and mattress (usually hotels have two beds pushed together) with great bedding and pillows. Very stylishly decorated and extremely comfortable. We had a great view of the lake and were able to sit outside on the deck even though it was a windy day as there was a protected area. There was a large spa bath in our bathroom that I hadn't expected as well as a beautiful heated thermal communal pool outside.

I can highly recommend a stay here. Beautiful facilities, wonderful views, comfy bed and excellent hosting. We had a long drive over from the central Hawke’s bay to attend a funeral. We needed to check in a little early to rest, refresh and then get ready. It was no problem for our host. All in all it was a lovely stay. The motel, despite being relatively close to the waterfront road was pleasingly quiet and a big plus was the excellent shower. 10/10 😊

Review for The Lodge We had an amazing stay at The Lodge! The lodge had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The bathroom was spacious, and having a mini pool in our own courtyard was a real treat. The thermal pools were a unique experience, though they were quite deep for my son to swim in. The beds were incredibly comfy, and the staff were exceptionally nice and accommodating. We were so excited about our stay and didn't get disappointed. We had no complaints at all and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We will definitely be coming back!

I like that you could choose to have a spa outside or no spa. The room felt clean which is a big bonus, lots of towels as well as pool towels ready. Sorry even though I asked for your name I have forgotten it but there was a lovely, really helpful man who went out of his was to make sure my truck was in a safe spot for the night. He was so helpful & was a nice welcome to Taupo.

Nothing bad at all & not a complaint either but maybe a recommendation for future. I booked a room with a spa but realised when I got there that i would have to fill it up which wouldn't have been a problem if i had time to do it. I was there for work so didn't have any time to stay and fill it myself, maybe you could ask stayers if they would like to use the spa during their visit? Then perhaps have it filled up even a little so that it doesn't take as long? Just a suggestion.

Room 4 - with own outdoor pool and view. The bed was super comfy. The service was excellent as attended to a couple of concerns that cropped up. The big outdoor pool was perfect. The walk home from town was an easy twenty - thirty minutes, the walk there was longer as we stopped for a drink here and there. While there may be a little bit of work needed here and there it is obvious that these hosts are making continual improvements to make your stay enjoyable.
