Sam was welcoming, professional, friendly and a great communicator. Oldlands is 2 stops/4 mins from South terminal, yet quiet and surrounded by trees. The rooms are attractive, our four poster bed very comfortable. The continental breakfast was great value at £7.50 and ready night before for us to take when we departed very early next morning and so much better than what was on offer on flight. The Greyhound pub diagonally opposite has great Indian restaurant good food. Would recommend and would stay again. Thanks Sam

We noticed the shower cubical appeared to have some mould in the grouting. There was quite a lot of dust on pipes near floor and dead spider at base of pedestal had basin, and no plug to fill sink (we didn’t ask for one as we were washing at 4.45am!, otherwise we would have!

A beautiful family home with a gorgeous wing on the side for guests. The #3 local bus is a 5 minute ride from Gatwick airport and drops you off at the driveway. Lovely walks nearby and a few restaurants within walking distance. Sam texted with me ahead of time to help get me to the correct bus, then met me at the front door and showed me around to the side entrance for guests. It opened into a beautiful sitting area with sofas and books. The guest bedrooms with private bathrooms are tucked off of the sitting area.

Nothing wrong with the property. It’s wonderful. Make sure you leave plenty of time to catch the #3 bus back to Gatwick. The return stop is across the street and down a little from the driveway. I ended up waiting 30 min in the rain as the bus did not come for one of its scheduled stop times. Thankfully it’s so close it didn’t matter for me.

The room was spacious, the gardens were lovely and the listed building had lots of character. There was a nice pub/ Indian restaurant across the street too. The owners were really helpful and made us feel like welcome family going over and above.

We were there for an extended stay and a small fridge in the room would have been nice but this was more than made up for as one of the hosts made sure we hade frozen ice bottles for my husbands ice machine every morning.

I got stuck in London on my way to Greece with my daughters due to an issue with my daughter’s passport. Luckily we found this hotel. These lovely people went above and beyond to assist us, including offering us a discount for the next night, giving us an assortment of food without charge when we were too late to order breakfast and lending us their own phone chargers. What a difference that made to a very stressful situation! And the hotel is lovely! A beautiful historic farmhouse, very nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. It is also extremely convenient to the airport, and directly on the bus route. Oh and they also arranged for a taxi for us to the airport. - Sam, I am so sorry we were running late that morning and to have disturbed you! —Don’t hesitate to stay here if you need to be by the airport - or even if you don’t. It is also a great place to stay with kids as they have a very nice yard with a great swing and some balls around. Thank you so much again, Oldlands Farmhouse!

The owner Sam was so lovely, and so passionate about her property. We loved hearing about the history of the grade II listed building, and if you're a fan of the Tudor period, this place is for you! The outdoor area is amazing; it was so safe for our little one to play and explore, seeing deer in the morning too. We really liked the library area too, and lots of thoughtful touches for guest experience. Booked for husband's birthday, and upon hearing this, Sam upgraded our room. Thank you again Sam!

Fantastic hosts who went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. The location is quiet and idyllic. Sam was very responsive with messages and requests and shared some of the history of the place which was fascinating. If you’re looking for a unique place to stay with charm and history this is it. The bus stop is right at the end of the driveway which makes an easy commute to Gatwick airport. Would love to stay again.

The hosts are amazing and make you feel welcome from the beginning to end. They also advised on good places to eat nearby and best way to get to the airport. The location of the place is very close to the airport, making it easy to get to and from Gatwick airport.

There was barely any soap in a bathroom and very little toilet paper. Getting to the supermarket or downtown is going to need a bus ride or quite a bit of walking.

Once you have worked out where to catch the bus, (Ask as soon as you exit arrivals, as it is 3-4 minutes walk away but not obvious.) getting to accommodation is easy and cheap. Buses are every 30 minutes and you pay by tapping. You can eat and drink at normal prices across the road at the Greyhound Pub but you'd better like curry. There is nothing luxury about the accommodation but it has character and is comfortable enough.

This is a brilliant location if you're flying from Gatwick Airport. We made use of the parking whilst we were away which was a very reasonable cost, safe and secure. We stayed in the Hepburn room which was cosy and warm. Loved that we had a kettle with tea & coffee too. Less than 10mins from Gatwick by car. If we use Gatwick again we'll definitely stay here. Owner is lovely too. Thankyou Sam

Minor issue was that the parking space was really wet / muddy where they've had lots of rain.

Tired of cookie-cutter British houses and corporate hotels? This is an owner-run, rehabilitated old farmhouse where Elizabeth I used to stop to water her horses (the exact room is used for guests), very tastefully refurbished from its previously dilapidated state. The owner/manager, Sam, will take pleasure in showing you its historical features, priests' holes, different architectural styles, etc. There is a yard, good for little kids (but not fenced in); It is located off the beaten path but just a few minutes by bus or car from Gatwick Airport (bus No. 3 to the south, stop at the Greyhound Pub, the inn is across the street from the pub and easy to find). You can probably walk to/from the airport in about 40 minutes, a utilitarian and not too pleasant walk (over the bridge, it's an industrial zone; best to take the No. 3 bus through it). The neighborhood is composed of individual homes, each with its own style, which is refreshing after a week in the UK, where architectural monotony reigns. Comfortable and very esthetically pleasing rooms, good heat and hot water, comfy beds.

No breakfast. But there is the pub across the street and a café about 10 min walk away. You can also order a call-in breakfast for 7gbp, but Sam herself doesn't recommend it. Also, a walk around the neighborhood (10 min to the Parson's Pig Pub, recommended by Sam) is interesting (houses) but somewhat dirty (some garbage in the woods) and along a fairly high-speed country road (40mph limit) with narrow, often broken sidewalks (not good for wheelchairs or elderly but fine for others). Lastly, it is very near the airport, so you can occasionally hear jets taking off, but the noise is not too loud, the windows are fairly soundproofed and the plane traffic stops late at night.
