Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, bed was super comfortable and the shower was great. My room was very clean, pillows were excellent! Plenty of space for hanging up clothes which is handy for a business traveller. Windows are super thick, so even though it's in the centre of the old town, you don't hear too much from outside. The proximity to restaurants and the lake is fantastic, as is the value for money, given that Zurich is one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Unfortunately there is no fridge or kettle in the room, which is a deal breaker for me. The walls are also extremely thin - I could hear the person in the room next door having a long facetime conversation, and the footsteps of the room above were too loud.

1. This review is actually for the Alexander Hotel and not the guesthouse as we shifted to the hotel because the lift in Guesthouse wasn't working. We had to pay extra for this forced shifting. Alexander Hotel room was better than the smaller guesthouse room. 2. Efficient and helpful staff. 3. Free coffee and water at the reception. 4. The location was great.

1. No electric kettle, though it was provided on demand. 2. The experience of non-functional lift, especially because the steps of the stairs are high. 3. Having to pay extra because we couldn't use stairs and had to shift to the Hotel. 4. The message from the property didn't mention that reception is in a different building than that given in the address. The reception at Alexander Hotel was about 150 yards away, but in a different street. It took me 20 minutes and some asking before I could solve the mystery of reception.

I love the location and access to the shopping, train and walking about safely. I will visit in late spring and stay at your hotel. Recommended to my friends..

You should have hand rails on the steps to the breakfast area especially since the carpet is black. I saw many guests struggling with the step down. Safety is key.

Alexander Guesthouse is a great place to stay in Zurich for a short visit. It is close to the main train station in the center of the city, shops and restaurants. It is in the funky Old Town area. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the guest house is clean and well maintained.

The guest house only has 2 person rooms, so larger groups need multiple rooms. There is no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms, however, they are provided in reception for free. The guesthouse has multiple floors and the lift is very small, so getting large luggage to your room can be an interesting experience.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, fresh looking, and light. The staff were very helpful with all onwards travel advice and support. Early checkin was also given. This was appreciated after a long trip. Breakfast was excellent and good value. The restaurant staff were welcoming, generous, and brilliant at what they do. The location was excellent, close to restaurants and boutique shops, and very close to the river, transport, and train station. Complimentary water served in rooms. I would stay here again..

No complaints, really. Whist it would always be nice to have a jug in the room for tea and coffee, to compensate for this, the hotel had complimentary coffee and tea in the foyer, as well as free fresh fruit for guests. A nice touch

We had booked a short stay with the Alexander Guesthouse on our way back and we received a really warm welcome and a room upgrade! I should note that our upgraded room was actually at the Alexander Hotel (not the guesthouse) and we were even allowed to check in early. Notes: - staff was super polite and made us feel really at home - a very cosy experience overall. - modernly furnished room, big comfy bed, nice bathroom. Not very spacious but not too small either. Very clean. - complimentary coffee, filtered water and fruit at each floor - complimentary access to the Zurich Zoo (upon availability) - this was actually the highlight of our experience. - location is excellent, right at the heart of the old town, very close to the main station too. Despite the location, the room was very quiet. - great value given the hotel rates in Zurich. I recommend this place and would book again if I return to Zurich.

Location was very walkable for riverfront, cathedral, and lakefront activities. There were two twin beds and plenty of electrical outlets.

Parking was challenging. There are two properties a block apart, plus a third for paid parking roughly in between. You can’t check in at Alexander Guesthouse, you want to map to the Hotel Alexander. The parking is accessed by driving down a pedestrian zone. The hotel staff follows very different protocols depending on which employee is running the front desk. Most were very friendly, but finding the parking area was not clear at all the first time.

Great location, clean, and very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel provides free access to the art museum, which was nice. We enjoyed our stay.

Our only suggestion would be better lighting in the room. There were small swivel wall lights near each bed that were nice for reading but otherwise just a ceiling light that was somewhat dim. Even just a lamp on the desk would help.

Great location in the old town but close to train station. Nice room with view of courtyard trees. As it’s past of Alexander Hotel one street over, you can pop in and get a free coffee and apple all day.

Great central hotel, pretty much in the heart of Zurich. The owner was very hospitable and gave us great recommendations. We happened to be there during an annual festival which covers the whole of old town which was extremely fun and made me experience a whole new side of Zurich! There's also small extras like coffees and teas available wherever you like which was a lovely addition ☺️
