We were upgraded to the Spa room when we arrived which is absolutely gorgeous. Room was clean and has everything you need for either a nights stay or longer. Lovely hotel and would definitely book again.

There are no blinds on the windows and the Spa room overlooks a busy shopping centre and walkway so people walking past can see directly in your room. It was a hot day but we couldn’t have any natural light in the room and we had to keep the curtains shut. There is also a busy bar over the road with outside seating so the noise was loud until about 1:30am when the bar closed. There’s no air con in the room so with a window open it’s extremely loud.

The Hotel was very central and also next to a car park which was very handy. The rooms were very large and the decor was beautiful. The kitchenette was well equipped and there was even a pint of 'proper' semi skimmed milk in the fridge for us to use!

The only thing I would comment on was that because the building is older, it wasn't fitted out with air con and as it was pretty hot when we stayed they had an air handling unit in the bedroom with a pipe running out of the window, which wasn't too bad, but around 4am in the morning there seemed to be a few delivery lorries banging and crashing just under our window.

It was Clean. Good quality towels and bedding. Comfortable bed. Nice toiletries. There is a separate sitting room and kitchenette with a stove top and microwave, very useful as I have food allergies and prefer to cook than eat out. There were no photos on the website other than the bed headboard, so it would be better to add a few more. Good location , within easy reach of the centre.

The air conditioning is free standing and quite loud with a large pipe that needs to be placed through the window. When turned off the bar courtyard was noisy. There is no coffee maker which is unusual in a 5* only instant coffee. No tea choices other than Yorkshire tea, which is very nice, but a selection such as earl grey or camomile would be good. Just suggestions as I know these are things I appreciate in hotels.

The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of all the things Chester has to offer. On arrival we where greeted with a big smile from the lovely receptionist who during the checking in process offered us a free room upgrade to one of their two room suites. This was a pleasant surprise and of course we took up the offer. The room "The Secret Garden" has what can only be described as WOW entrance. The Bed was huge, the shower was huge and the second room though we didn't make much use of it, would be great if you where travelling with others or you where staying for several nights. The Hotel Chester is now our go to when we visit. We can't wait to try some of the other themed rooms. And as an added bonus there is a pub right next door which shares its beer garden with the hotel. Lets just say its worth a visit if you like your conspiracies tongue in cheek.

The remote for the fireplace didn't work correctly, nor the light on the mirror in the bathroom. Small things that didn't spoil our stay in anyway.

Staff were lovely, very comfortable throughout and very clean - smelled lovely too! We loved our stay but following points of feedback do apply : 1 Instructions re location could be improved- yes the car park is next door - great in the car but there is no explanation provided about when you exit the carpark how to find your way back on foot from inside the shopping centre - it is not “ next door” unless you walk out through the drive in ramp which is very dangerous 2 The rooms are dark - you can’t open the curtains for any natural light because of privacy - there are buildings close by and walk ways on level with windows- easily addressed by installing some voiles 3. Staircases inside the hotel ( no lift ) are quite dangerous as the bannister is too low - you need to stoop over to use it - just be aware if you are travelling with anyone elderly or with walking difficulties as I was - it’s not ideal

The design details. We stayed in the Treehouse. This was my second time staying in this room as once was not enough! This time I had my 5 year old child with me and he was elated! He had his own miniature door to unlock and enter the room. The details are incredible. The tree in the living room, the massive comfy couch that a family of 8 could all fit on, the copper bathtub, the skylights, the window from the bedroom looking over the living room, the beautiful kitchen, and all the other details. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms luxurious. I can't wait to explore the other themed rooms.

The entrance is discreet and deceiving then you walk into an unknowingly maze of rooms. The staff at reception was exceptional, we were met by a lovely young blonde woman, she was delightful. Room was exceptionally clean (was doubtful because pets are allowed) lovely cream carpets, quality very soft mattress. So cosy could have stayed there for a week. A gorgeous hide away! Lovely lighting! Good choice in mini bar, alcohol, drinks, milk and chocolate bars and the sweets on the table! Dog basket and bowl in the entrance cupboard! Gorgeously lit alley way to hotel!! Superb! X

First time visiting from Glasgow, thisplace is located on a wee side street near the shopping centre. Looks cosy and inviting. Easy check in process and the staff member was fantastic. Really regretting not staying another night as iv stayed at the Balmoral, Gleneagles, Cameron house. This is probably the cosiest room and wee hotel i have been to and the price is extremely reasonable, and if you cant manage that they offer Clearpay. Televisions are great, lets you stream all the apps you want. Big hotel chains still don’t do this and try charge you a fee or Don’t have the ability to do it. Everything is walkable, and you’re surrounded by stacks of fantastic small, medium and large restaurant chains. Plenty of options for alcoholic beverages and theres a nice wee cocktail bar called palm that offers 2 cocktails for £12 👏. Lastly if you have parking anxiety this hotel is located next to a multi-storey car park with hundreds of spaces. Summed up, cosy, warm, safe and a great hotel with excellent staff.

Couldn't have asked for a better stay! I was treating my girlfriend to a weekend away for her birthday. She's a nurse and had just finished a week of nights. So when the hotel messaged me on the day of our arrival to say they were upgrading our room free of charge, it could't have been timed better! The room was spotless, and the bed was extremely comfy. It's also in an ideal location to explore Chester. Just a few minutes walk from everything. The staff were very friendly, and helpful.

The staff were welcoming, jovial and polite. We were offered an amazing upgrade into an apartment called the Secret Garden. The apartment was beautifully appointed with excellent facilities. A huge, super comfortable bed, two televisions, a small well appointed lounge area with a kitchenette. Ample complimentary tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a well stocked mini bar. We took our dog with us on this visit and Jess was spoilt with a her own bed which she loved, there is even an area at the hotel designed specifically to look after her needs.

Chester is, (and has been for several years) been undergoing a restoration program around its city walls. The Chester Hotel sits on the edge of this city wall and has unfortunately suffered from a collapse which detracts from the views out of the window. A lot of effort has been put into trying to make the rear of the hotel look more aesthetically pleasing but it is obviously a bit of a challenge.
