- pretty big rooms, enough for two people with large suitcases. - the walls seem to be soundproof as we heard nothing during our stay, even though the hotel was fully booked. - near the main train station and bus stops (especially for going to the Bamboo Forest and Fushimi Inari) - shops nearby (Lawson or 7eleven at 3min walk) - very helpful staff members and very polite. - restaurants nearby. - smoking room in the hotel.

Location = Very good, not too close and not too far from the Kyoto station and surrounded with convenient stores. Hotel (inside and outside) = Clean and stylish, love how they decorate everything. Room = Very clean, comfortable and well designed layout. Also a little bit more spacious than other hotels from my opinion. Staffs and Services = Very impressive services. Always smile and support me anything I needed the best way they could.

1. Don't quite understand about how their cleaning staffs handle a small garbage bin in a room toilet. Somehow the garbage in a toilet were not cleared in some day even if I've put the cleaning sign at the room door. I wish I could learn more so that I can plan about this beforehand. 2. I wasn't sure that the room toilet seat is supposed to warm like the one in the restroom behind the front desk on the 3rd floor. Mine wasn't warm but it wasn't cold either so it's okay, I guess.

We had a wonderful three-night stay at Rihga Gran Kyoto. The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from Kyoto Station and also close to a FamilyMart. The staff were incredibly accommodating, allowing us to store our bags upon arrival so we could enjoy the afternoon in Kyoto. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and equipped with a wardrobe and a lounge area. The bathroom was modern and well-stocked with amenities, though we did think some fold-out hooks for bath towels would be a nice addition. We also appreciated the thoughtful extras, such as the tourist information and facility vacancy (for washing machines, communal baths and restaurant) available on the television, as well as the free soft drinks from the restaurant. Overall, we highly recommend Rihga Gran Kyoto for anyone visiting the city.

Easy walking distance from Kyoto station where most of the transport, and a lot of food and shopping options are located. Quiet surroundings. Front staff were lovely. There were a quite a few washing machines but they were still sadly snapped up quickly. We did one load of light clothing and needed to add 30min drying time.

When we asked about making a reservation for breakfast, the staff told us the next morning was heavily booked which meant likely a 30-40min wait for breakfast. It was kind of them to warn us but the organisation of breakfast seemed a bit counterintuitive. It also felt like our linen wasn’t changed after the 2nd day like they said they would.

Lovely Staff with good English. Luggage storage available in lockers (free). One of our suitcases were too tall and the staff were happy to leave it near the reception (many other luggage also left there - unsure why as they definitely appeared to fit in the lockers - maybe they were for those who hadn't checked in yet?). TV allowed you to view which washing machine/dryers were free and the times remaining. Close to Kyoto Station, under 10 mins by foot. But getting out of the correct exit on your first day to the hotel may be a little confusing, however, once you know your way you'll realise it's really close. There's a Don Quijote and mall just down the road from the hotel and across from Kyoto Station.

Not enough washing machine/dryers (2 in 1) for such a big hotel. We were always fighting over them. Drying function was not good. Modern hotel rooms with just enough space for large suitcases, but not enough outlets for charging. Carpets in rooms needed a good vacuum with a heavy duty strong vacuum cleaner. A lot of dirt and hair stuck to my barefoot :( It was definitely not our hair as the colour was different...

Nice and Comfy hotel. Room was pretty small. We are 2 adults with 2 medium suitcases and struggled to find place to put our suitcases open. Wardrobe space able to fit 2 shirts max, not 2 puffer jackets. Other than that, the hotel is fabulous, very clean, comfortable. Breakfast is great, comes in a small box set for everyone, and then there is still a small breakfast buffet on top of that, food was great!!. There is onsen, washing machine, free small snacks in morning and free drinks (tea & soda) at evening at a specific time range, which we greatly appreciated. Will definitely come back!!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and we immediately felt comfortable in the very clean room (twin bed). Even when we had to spontaneously extend our stay for another night it was no problem to keep the same room, and the staff were very helpful with the changes. The breakfast was also very delicious and combined traditional Japanese food with "Western" breakfast options perfectly. The location is perfect, since it is about 5 walking minutes from Kyoto Station and we could reach every one of our sightseeing spots via train/bus easily. We only stayed for 5 nights, but I'd definitely recommend it for a longer stay as well!

The hotel’s location is very convenient and close to Kyoto station (just 5 minutes walking distance). There are many restaurants and daily shops nearby. The room was spacious and clean. We can also choose either full service or limited service daily. The hotel’s front desk customer services were excellent! For example, one night we couldn’t open the laundry machine after washing our clothes. We told the front desk. The gentleman went up immediately and picked up our clothes. Besides, we asked for 2 thinker blankets due to the hot weather. Then the hotel sent the blankets quickly to our room on the same day. Very helpful.

The only thing that we are not satisfied with was the time limitations of free drink time on the 3rd floor.

The property is 2 blocks from Kyoto station. There are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores and shops nearby. There were coin laundry machines that washed and dried your clothes. Although, often very busy and didn’t dry well. There is a laundry mat across the street as well. You get free drinks including juice, soda and coffee from 10-10.

Laundry machines were often in use and didn’t dry well. Also, I thought it was strange that even if you go down to the restaurant and order a meal at supper in the same location that you pick up your drinks, you’d have to pay to enjoy your drinks with your meal. Also, I wish coffee was available before 10am. We found the pillows uncomfortable.

Our room was well-appointed, comfortable and clean. The staff at reception were excellent, with one lovely lady who spoke very good English and sorted out a mix up with our booking.

Coffee is available free downstairs near the dining room only after 10am. Seems to be a Japanese thing. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as there were very limited options for a fairly pricey meal and often we had early starts, so a light breakfast option with coffee would be good. The bar wasn’t open in the afternoon when we arrived. We were looking forward to relaxing and catching up with our friends for a cold drink.
