It was a really good location. It was a spacious room with powerful air con, a fridge, coffee sachets and a kettle. The man on reception was so lovely!
The man on reception was so smiley and welcoming, greeted us everytime we walked past but the lady that greeted us when we arrived wasn’t the friendliest or most welcoming. The room was clean however the bathroom had what looked a bit like poo on the wall and a bogey on the back of the bathroom door. I also think the $100 deposit you pay should be put back in your account immediately, shouldn’t have to wait over 1 week to get it back.

I only stayed one night at the Hides Hotel because I wanted to take the train to Brisbane the next day. So I was looking for a simple hotel in the center. The hotel is a bit old, yes. But I wasn't expecting a Hilton. Maybe it was because of my room or because it was out of season, I couldn't hear any noise from the disco etc. You can just hear the kids in the hallway, so a bit more insulation wouldn't be a bad idea. The internet was moderately good. It could be faster, but I've had worse. I enjoyed the food and some tours. So I can't judge that. Around the hotel, which is right in the center, you'll find everything you're looking for. Restaurants, bars, supermarket etc. You can't complain.

Very big hotel. I read reviews beforehand saying it was really noisy. But our room (near the back) was fine. Rooms are outdated but grand for a few nights stay. Check in clerk was lovely and efficient. Super close to town. Parked on the street which was free overnight. But would have to pay in day. Didn’t try to get the hotel carpark.
Old elevator. Choose to walk stairs instead. Bed was soft. A/C wasn’t very strong but directed at the bed. So quite cold keeping it on overnight.

Very good location, close to all tours, public transport and major city areas Comfortable beds and value for money Clean room with good house keeping If WiFi issue was fixed, which I assume it will be, I would highly recommend!
Noisy - despite requesting a quiet room, I was given a room next to a school tour WiFi did not work - major disadvantage. I used mobile data throughout the stay Staff availability and helpfulness during the day could be improved at reception Most helpful staff were on duty during the night hours

The hotel represents good value in an excellent location. It's not five-star but it's comfortable clean and the staff are friendly. We had some problems because we stupidly left some diving gear in our room after we checked out and the staff and manager helped us sort this out to arrange its return. Breakfast was excellent. Thank you certainly would stay here again.

The location was fantastic and the price was good after reading the reviews I was quiet anxious but honestly the staff were friendly the room whilst older was big and spacious , the bed was 2 singles combined but as a solo traveller was fine. For the price it meets its needs. If you want something fancy spend the extra money and stay elsewhere, if your after budget accommodation close to everything, this is good.
The long hallway was a bit disorienting and could do with new carpet. The aircon whilst a godsend was right next to the bed and constantly blew on me, just turned it off at night the ceiling fan was sufficient.

Cheap hotel in the Centre of the location, had a late check-in due to plane delay so had to give the hotel reception a call which the did message me the instruction of how to get to my room. There seems to be a paid laundry facility in the building however I did not use it. The room itself was quite large with lots of charging spots, a aircon and a ceiling fan, nothing fancy but good value for what was needed. It's located n the center if the city area and across the road from the grocery shop (Woolworths). has a small fridge but the fridge doesn't seen to have a freezer section so don't buy anything frozen.
You can't keep your suitcase for free. They only have paid lockers.

Friendly front of house team. Answered all my questions making me feel comfortable and safe. Also booked my taxi for the airport when I left. This was super helpful.
I liked everything about the property. Was situated in the middle of everything I wanted to do throughout my stay. This meant I could walk to every place. I would have liked a microwave but having the fridge was more important.

Location, simple breakfast, room size and comfort. Surprisingly this was a hotel where the modest entrance lobby did not do the rooms justice.
My last night before an early departure (04:30) I was in a room which had throbbing music from the street until the early hours.

So central to everything in Cairns. The outdoor first floor verandah was a delight . I sat out there most days in the fresh air reading
Room doors were not sound proof, so you heard people moving and talking along the long corridor moving in and out of the building .
