This hotel had been highly recommended to us by some friends, so we knew what to expect. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, our room was lovely (and quiet) and the public areas including the pool are great. We were travelling in our own car and the parking was free, easy and spacious. All of the staff were outstanding, we particularly liked Simone and Gabriella who were lovely. The breakfasts were good and we had some excellent meals in the hotel restaurant. We also had a good meal at a nearby restaurant, Roven. The hotel operates a minibus that can take you into Florence for 2.5 euros each. On arrival we were told that when checking out, a service charge for all staff would be added to our bill. It was made clear that we could remove this or change the amount. After initially being surprised, we decided this was a good idea as it was a fair way to tip and also saved having to think about it each day. On this occasion we were happy to keep the whole amount on the bill as we felt all of the staff had been exceptional.

The only thing that could have been better is if the minibus had taken us nearer the centre. The drop off point was 20-40 minutes away from the centre (depending on your mobility) and although the walk in is flat it was hard work for us, especially in 38 degree sun.

Room and breakfast excellent, staff including bar staff, housekeeping and reception all really helpful. setting is beautiful. They tell you when you check in they will be adding an optional service charge to the final bill so need to tip as you go along which is helpful.

cost is on the high side, restaurant is ok but better places nearby for the price. The shuttle is not very flexible, (out 9,10,11 only, back at 3 afternoon times only and stops some way outside city). However taxis are readily available and they are building a tram to right by the villa.

The hotel is beautiful and luxurious. Yet it is not pretentious or snobby. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The grounds are extensive, lovely for a stroll in the evening. The pool is a bonus. There are many, many options for breakfast. Our favourite part was our room. It was the most comfortable room we have ever stayed in. The air con is super efficient and silent. The bed was simply bliss with the most gorgeous bedding.

The only slight niggle, for us personally, was the number of very young children at the pool. I understand families are entitled to holidays too but I would have liked an adult only area to relax in.

We wanted a special holiday for our dad who was celebrating his 85th birthday. Alessandro, Elisa, Gabirelle and of course Paula and all the staff of Villa Olmi were absolutely amazing, nothing was ever too much trouble and anything we asked was done in the most courteous way that made us feel very comfortable and welcome, the staff were just brilliant, some of the best we have ever come across. congratulations to everyone.

Menu was a little sparse, would have liked more options especially during the day. The only food item that we did not like was the eggplant parmagiana, it was too small in size and was over cooked.

The room was spacious with drawers, cupboards and seating. The furniture is period and very nice though probably ought to be protected from damage, it's a privilege to be in such ornate rooms. The lawn and pool have adequate sunbeds so no unnecessary bed grabbing.

The evening restaurant would be appreciated more if the menu had more choice and varied by day. The hotel provided transport into town should run all day and finish later with stops closer to the town centre.

The hotel is very charming. For me the stand out feature is the absolutely beautiful gardens. The pool area was also lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a great selection Proximity to Florence was fabulous. Would love to return!

Hotel restaurant for dinner was mediocre compared to all the other meals I’d had whilst in Italy. Shuttle to Florence could drop off at a more convenient location. You need to walk a further 15 min to get into the centre I didn’t like the inclusion of a 10% service charge on the final bill. I’ve stayed in many hotels and have never encountered this before. I chose to have it removed and paid my own tip in cash

I absolutely loved the quiet location, gardens, pool, friendly staff, history, and uniqueness of the property -- it was a great place to relax as a couple and a quick drive into Florence. The housekeeping was amazing and constantly kept our room spotless. Lastly, I loved the bathtub and cafe table in the room to relax and have tea.

The lunch and dinner options from the restaurant on-site need a few more options and bigger portions on some dishes. Additionally, there was a surprising amount of babies and small children screaming at the pool and throwing rocks at dinner, etc., yet the feeling of this hotel is very polished and adult.

Stunning buildings and grounds. Staff were kind and polite and professional. Everywhere was spotless and exceptionally clean. Facilities offered were great.

Fitness room was tiny and a little disappointing. Two main drivers for this hotel were pool and fitness room and was a bit disappointed with the fitness room. Only other thing was the sound and lack of noise cancelling in the room. Could hear other people coming the stairs late at night to their room and hear the woman next door coughing. Just made it hard to sleep.

I wanted a hotel close to Florence but also with grounds and a pool. Both were excellent. I hadn't planned on eating at the hotel every evening but the food, ambience and service were excellent. For those that fear having to save a bed by the pool every day, fear not, there are ample. The local buses into town are frequent but a 10 min walk away and don't adhere to forecast times, I didn't find it a problem, part of the experience of being in Italy. The hotel operates a shuttle but not always at the times I needed.

The cardio aspect of the gym could have done with heavier free weights and a better range of cardio equipment but it was ok with a few compromises. A more frequent hotel shuttle service would be welcome, particularly for the evening.

Stunning place, beautiful gardens. The villa was fabulous, beautifully appointed. The staff are excellent and welcoming. Service in all areas was outstanding

The 2 beds pushed into 1. The breakfast was not as good as the 3 star place we stayed in. Breakfast was average for the standard of property. For the price we feel an 11am or 12 midday check out would be good value.
