Great location! Comfortable beds Rooms are small but all older hotels share that with their own charm! Clean and nice for us! Fresh lemon water in lobby daily! And popcorn 🍿 loved that they kept our bags secure after checkout next day so we could sight see for rest of day before we left. Very nice and helpful staff. Parking garage is one block up and vehicle is safe there. We decided to cable car ride down to fisherman's warf or Uber to sight see vs tackle the driving and finding parking. Highly suggest that. Waymo automatic cars are fun too! Walk to cable car up one block & hop on! They stop at every intersection. Get the Muni app and purchase tickets before. They only take exact amounts in cash. And they show you route maps on that too. History buff? go see SS Jeremiah O'Brien. VERY cool and self guided you can wander the ship! Took us about an hour. Could of stayed longer! Alcatraz trip was neat too. Highly recommend both with teens! Lori's Diner (up 1 block from hotel) delicious breakfast and late night old fashioned ice cream treats! Apple pie ala mode was amazing! Didn't actually make it to "union square" but it's 1 block south of hotel, could see it but kept heading to the coast for sightseeing! 😊

Location was amazing! Close to everything. The hotel is beautiful and I loved that it maintained some vintage details. The room was very clean. Having a refrigerator was helpful. There was no microwave in room though. There was a microwave in the lobby for guests to use but I felt a little awkward to go down there and heat things up. Endless tea, coffee, filtered water and cookies in the lobby was a nice touch. It felt safe enough considering its San Francisco and you will encounter some unusual activity because its a big city. There were enough people around that I felt safe enough. Also the room had a safe for valuables, I love when hotels have this.

The coffee was not very good when we tried it but maybe the filter just needed to be changed? It's free though. We just bought coffee elsewhere. Maybe its good sometimes? Microwave in room would have been cool, but I can understand why hotels might not do that.

Location. Overhead fan and fresh air. Good sized room. Sears Nextdoor.

Location next to Union Square ment that there could be late night noise. My husband thought that there should be a variety of pillows available because they were too plump for him. The power outlets for charging were not next to the bed That meant that if recharging, we needed to work at the desk. If I weren’t so lazy, I would have shifted the desk light to bed stand.

Very central location .Lovely well preserved 19th century building with lots of character The standard of cleanliness across the building was very high .The staff were great - friendly and extremely helpful . No breakfast facilities but there is 24 hour free tea and coffee and cookies. It also provides excellent value for money .

The hotel is very centrally located, which make it easily accessible to several option of means of transport! The room was spacious and clean. The personnel was very friendly. At the lobby was a surprise, since they offer for free coffee, tea, water, fruits and biscuits all day long!!! Alao during evenings, they offer popcorn! They also have a baggage storage after your check out, which is also very convenient if your flight is later in the day!

Conveniently located. Close to many cafes and restaurants. Helpful staff and the room is clean. Definitely will be staying here again. Thank you.

The hotel was nicely located near the Union Square. There was a Walgreen in the next-next building that was very convenient for me to purchase something small including drink, snacks and toothpaste. The room I stayed on 7th floor faced the opposite side of the Powell street and thus it was quiet, being free from the noise from the outside. The building was old but the room was clean and I liked it very much.

The two elevators had expired certifications of their inspections, which let me fell a little uncomfortable. For some people, it may be a minor negative point that there were no coffee machine or kettle to boil water in the room. I am not sure if that would be available upon request; It was not a problem on me because I brought my own kettle and tea bags anyway.

Good location in Union Square. Very clean bed and pillows (very important to us). Clean room (also important). Very polite and helpful front desk staff, bellmen, room service ladies. The staff's polite manners reminded us of the wonderful old-time hotel services when bellmen welcomed you, opened the hotel doors, and helped with luggage. The front desk staff were also polite and cheerful. The reservation lady, Shirley, was polite and helpful with location direction, parking info, etc. We appreciated popcorn, cookies, coffee and clean filtered cold water refills at the lobby, candies in room (kids loved it), and usage of guest restroom before check-in and after check-out.

1) Some rooms have very strong smell of room perfume (or scented clean products). I could not stand the strong scent in the first room and had to request for a room change. The staff promptly changed the room. I recommend the hotel to utilize neutral no-odor room cleaning products and not to spray perfume or scented products in the room. 2) The rooms were clean and no noticeable issues with cleanliness (except for the scent issue noted above). The bathrooms were clean and they provided anti-slip mat for the bath stubs. The kids loved the decor rubber ducks. However, the bathrooms do not have fans and the shower vapors may bet trapped in the room for a while. We had to open the windows for the shower humidity to exit.

Check in. Quick & easy. Hotel staff were super friendly throughout our stay. I mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday & the hotel staff generously gave us a bottle of bubbly 😊 & some balloons!! What a lovely surprise. Location Literally 60 seconds from Union Square. Perfect location for public transport, shopping, sightseeing. San Francisco is also a great city to walk & Fisherman Wharf & the Golden Gate Park are a quick bus, or morning stroll away. Also the Walking Tour and the Hop On, Hope Off busses all leave from Union Square so the Chancellor is perfectly situated. McDonald's is 3/4 minutes away, Walgreens & 7eleven are 2/3 minutes away. Right next door is an old school American diner called Sears that does great food all day. Rooms The hotel is an older building & the rooms have an older, quaint feel, but honestly they have everything you could need. They are cozy but spacious. We had a large luggage room with wardrobe, safe, spare pillows. There was also a portable heater & plug in fan should you need them. We didn't even though we visited in Jan. The bed was so comfortable, it was difficult to get out of bed in the morning! :) You can have a choice of pillows too. Our room had a large fridge that Bar / Lobby There is a bar at the lobby, (which we didn't get to try out this time), but the best part was the cookies!! They were plentiful & absolutely delicious!!! The lobby is comfortable & has Coffee, Tea, Apples, Popcorn & Cookies. We stayed at the hotel in Jan, so it was lovely to be able to grab a coffee or tea & have a chat with the hotel staff & enjoy some cookies before hitting the hay. Check out Quick & easy.
