I liked the facilities, breakfast and dinner was good and our room was excellent,

Prices - the cheapest price for wine was £34 which is too expensive as was £35 for a steak. I also noted a slight lack of attention to detail, for example the front glass door was not working, it appeared to be slightly ajar, thereby allowing leaves into the entrance area.

The very first time I stayed I was allocated a room on top of the kitchen fan outlet, with predictable results. I generally request something far away from there, except this time I forgot. And sure enough, I was allocated the same room. Right next to the lift, over the kitchen fan and it looked rather "used" and a little tired and I doubted if it was the deluxe room I booked. I was then moved to a room I remember having stayed in before, comfortable and spacious. However, after bouncing around on a train for the entire day, do you really need this extra half hour to argue and persuade? Moreover, another guest had the same problem. Room not as described, not as in foto shown when booking etc.

Apart from the room "switch" I hated having to wait to check in, the lack of a Nespresso machine in the room, the occasionally fluctuating water temperature in the shower. Although the restaurant is good, there are large inconsistencies in presentation and/or preparation. Something that bowls you over today comes out as a variation on a theme tomorrow and as a poor shadow of what exquisite only yesterday.

We have stayed twice before which speaks for itself. The rooms are spacious, the staff helpful. well trained and kind, the food good. It has its own ambience in spacious grounds. It retains its country house appearance, very well furnished, including a number of antiques. We are elderly, but the lift makes luggage disposal easy. The corridors are picture-lined and simple to navigate. The weekend is a time for weddings, but apart from numbers at the front door they don't impinge on guests and the kilts add to the attraction. We may go again.

The menu is small and unchanging for a four-day stay.

Booked and got free upgrade via Booking.com + free breakfast as well (Genius Member). Had our dog Rosie with us and often means lower quality of room at other hotels. Not at this hotel, good location, brilliant sized room & amenities. Almost forget excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Finally the location for our trip was good. As was the location for Rosie & myself early morning walk (6.30am'ish). 5 minute walk onto the cycle/ walkway that used to be the Aberdeen to. Ballater railway line.... Minor thing, but could live with it for our one night stay. The function room had an event on into early hours. Maybe the next round of hotel upgrades includes newer noise reduction windows. But as mentioned above, we coped for our one night stay.

I had a Booking.com room upgrade to a deluxe double that also included breakfast. The room was quite large and fairly well appointed, although I would say it was a little dated. One thing the room was missing was a fan, particularly as it was hot weather. I understand that air-con is probably impossible, but having a fan as an alternative would be beneficial. Staff were all very pleasant.

The dinner menu is very limited and very expensive for what it is. Only one veggie option and that was not very imaginative (butternut squash risotto). I wouldn't eat in the restaurant another time. Breakfast was nice enough - I had the Scottish breakfast, but asked for no sausage or black pudding. I was then disappointed that one slice of bacon was deemed enough. Additionally, I found it unacceptable that you have to pay extra for certain items - for example to have Eggs Benedict which is a fairly standard breakfast option in most hotels, would have cost an additional £5.

Our room was capacious. Bed comfortable. Spotlesly clean. Excellent sound insulation. Outlook on to trees. The decor was striking and what we expected, Staff extremely helpful. Meal delicious and quantity just right. The background music during dinner was pleasant and NOT INTRUSIVE as is so often the case. Fine grounds we were able to explore admiring the planting. Although the hotel had many guests there was a tranquil and efficent atmosphere helped by its setting amidst such magnifiscent trees and grounds.

Nothing. We genuinely found our stay delightful. It was unusual for us not to find something not quite right!

My room was very comfortable, large enough to spend a lot of time in without feeling cooped up. A large desk and plenty of power outlets were very helpful. The water pressure in the shower was exceptional. I have stayed quite a few times and the hotel never fails to disappoint. The staff are invariably helpful, pleasant and accommodating.

One small gripe which is purely personal and not particularly important, is the lack of a Nespresso machine. A good number of hotels of this caliber provide Nespresso machines rather than sachets of brown substance masquerading as coffee.

A wonderful quiet country location but just on the edge of the city, so only a short drive to the city centre. The food is excellent, menu a bit limited however, but the quality is very high and portion size more than adequate. The staff are also very friendly and helpful, and really go out of their way to provide an excellent service.

The WiFi in our room was quite patchy, and failed a few times in the evening with no speed whatsoever. We were however in a room at the end if the hotel, so that may have been a factor.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Norwood Hall Hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond—friendly, helpful, and always professional.
