The check-in was very quick and easy and the staff member who checked us in was very friendly and accommodating. The beds were comfy and the rooms spacious with a nice-sized en suite. Location was nice with only a short 25 minute drive into Cardiff.
The only thing we'd suggest is A/C as there was a fan on the ceiling that only circulated warm air earlier due to it being very warm and muggy. This was due to abnormaly warm weather and not an issue with the hotel itself. *This did not impact our stay*

The staff were the happiest group of staff I have come across for a long time working in this type of environment!! They were all so helpful and cheerful!! The food was very good and as I am gluten intolerant often I have a very poor choice but in this case I was very happily surprised!! We had breakfast and dinner there and I was well catered for !
The room we stayed in could do with a bit of TLC as it is getting a bit tired looking . Lights around the place and our room need attention as there are quite a few not working .

The design and style was superb.
We went to the Newport Marathon 7:15 am, Sunday morning and you gave us sandwiches a packet of crisps water and an apple for breakfast. As breakfast didn’t start till 8:30 am. My daughter and her fiancee stayed in the Green King down the road. Although they don’t normally start breakfast until 8 o’clock on this particular day, they started at 7am. Which made life a lot easier for them. With that said the breakfast that we had the following morning with you was amazing.

We stayed one night to go a family funeral in Newport. The hotel room was comfortable. The bed and linens were lovely and we were so impressed with the pillows that I have ordered some online! Breakfast was great and Sue was very attentive and cheerful, even getting my husband an egg which I had forgotten to tick on the menu! In fact, all.of the staff were very helpful and pleasant. This was great for a one night stay near (but not IN Newport.)
The check in was not smooth as the receptionist was discussing wedding details with a couple so I accosted a passing member of staff. The bathroom was spacious and immaculate but needed a slip may for the bath and/or a grab handle.

Friendly welcome, good food, well stocked bar with two real ales, good lounge and superb staff. Spacious room with comfy bed and great pillows. Well appointed bathroom with bath and shower over. Room temperature good especially as it was a very cold few days during our stay. Minor problem with faulty bulb in bedroom promptly rectified. Plenty of parking spaces and there was no charge for parking.
Breakfast menu was limited if you were not keen on a traditional cooked breakfast. The dining room was very cold for breakfast.

Really liked the hotel. The staff were very friendly. The evening meal was lovely as was the quality of the breakfast. However.... I'm not sure if I was just lucky on the first morning, Friday 23rd August or robbed on the second morning. On Friday we were greeted by a lovely lady who could not do enough for us and my breakfast contained 2 eggs and 2 bacon rashers. On Saturday we were met by another lady who greeted us with " You can't sit there the table isn't made up, sit over there! My breakfast only had one egg and one bacon rasher. Was this a change of chefs, Who knows?
Read the above.

We have visited here many times. It makes a welcome pit stop on our way to West Wales. The rooms are comfortable. The welcome is warm. The bar and restaurant are pleasant and up until lately we have enjoyed the food but recent changes to the menu have dropped items like fish and chips, a rack of ribs and healthier salad options to be replaced with massive meat choices. Huge burgers can be enjoyable from time to time but if you have a lighter appetite it always feels such a shame to waste half of your dinner.
The chef has designed a new menu that appears to be based on a burger van theme. Everything is fried, vegetables are only really available in a vegetarian dish. The breakfast that used to include boiled eggs, porridge, and other items has now been replaced with a tick list fried breakfast. Transport café rather than restaurant food although the service is still excellent.

The room was comfortable. The breakfast and dinner were very good. The staff was friendly. We had a comfortable stay - the facilities in the room were good and they all worked well.
On Sunday we went for breakfast and when we came back we noted that the room had been serviced. We had not put the sign outside requesting the cleaning of the room. I had brought my blood pressure tablets - had cut two tablets out from the strip and had kept them on the bedside table. The cleaner may have thought that these are small strips of rubbish and must have throw them away. I thoroughly looked around but could not find my tablets. The cleaners should only clean the room when they have been asked to - this way such accidents will not happen.

We have stayed at the Old Barn several times and it never dissapoints. Lovely location , friendly staff . Comfortable rooms excellent breakfast .
We had a slight problem with the drains , unfortunately It had rained very hard and the smell from the drain in our bathroom was not pleasant , checking out I mentioned it to the owner Jackie, who apologised and was grateful that I mentioned it so she could get it maintained . Definitely be back

My mini suite was nice, breakfast wonderful and the most obliging lady anybody could wish to have serving breakfast and generally looking after everybody, and for an Inn, the dinner was very good.
This is not a complaint, but as it happens, on the 5th November when I visited, the water from my shower (in the bath) would not drain away, I tried for about 30 minutes but had no success. (Room 14). As I`ve just said, this is not a complaint, it can happen unexpectedly anywhere, unfortunately for me it happened when I was there.
