The room was very convenient and comfortable. I stayed in another room with my work, that was at the university building. Although that room was also fine, the furniture was very rundown and didn't feel clean. I think for the money that is charged that was not ok at all. However, this room felt more comfortable and clean.

I wish the TV also had an easier way to connect apps such as Netflix as the TVs don't have internet. This is not a problem in the short term but for someone like me who stayed for two weeks that matters. I wish there was a gym (even a small one), I would expect from an hotel that is at this price point.

The rooms in building 2. It feels like u are not part of the main hotel and living in a school environment. Load shedding affects this area as there was no generator. Therefore the lifts don’t operate which is a problem for luggage, prams, elderly people etc The rooms are renovated beautifully but this external issue put a negative aspect to the hotel.

The location of the property and it being backed by a familiar brand was nice. I loved my room which had a beautiful tub as well.

My room was on the op floor of a university which was not known to me in advance. Also on 2 mornings of my 4 day stay, there was some sort of maintenance happening on the roof. Not only was it at 8 and woke me up (nothing in Cape Town opens until 10 so the timing of this was bad) it sounded as if there were people actually going to break into my room. It was so loud and very disturbing when I was sleeping or trying to enjoy a low key morning.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for three nights, and it was an excellent experience. The location was perfect, and the rooms were clean and well-maintained. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was the outstanding service from the staff. My partner fell seriously ill in the middle of the night, and I cannot thank Jason and Tarfueeq enough for their incredible support and assistance. Being unwell in a foreign city can feel overwhelming, but their kindness and professionalism made all the difference. Additionally, the hotel was very accommodating, allowing us a late check-out after we had spent time at the hospital. Their flexibility and understanding were greatly appreciated.

Ok so it’s good, no real complaints and it’s quite close to the V&A but then again it’s far enough away to be a little risky to walk and yet too close to take na Uber. I did walk but I heard reports of issues with theft after dark so beware. But back to the “hotel”, I stayed in a part of the old prison, it’s now a college and it was a tad weird to be wandering around between college lecture rooms and student lecturers etc. did it detract from my stay? No, just a tad odd! That said, reception staff were very friendly and I have no complaints !

The hotel is in an excellent location near the waterfront. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is excellent, too. In short, we loved our stay and would recommend the hotel.

The only negative was the fact that the in-house television channels were inadequate. The units are not smart TV so consequently one cannot stream. The channels offered are limited and we were unable even to find SKY or any suitable channel to watch. An upgrade to this system would definitely be welcomes.

The Marriott Protea Waterfront is ideally suited for the Waterfront in Cape Town. Far enough from the hubub to be peaceful, near enough to walk and enjoy the wonderful offerings of the location. Chilled water with cucumber and fruit daily in Reception and coffee was much appreciated. Spa was excellent and very affordable and the university buildings and setting in an old prison was really very interesting and fun. Parking in the car park was easy to access and safe and the security staff were welcoming and there was plenty of space. Overall a really lovely home from home.

Glass doors on the toilet and shower were an interesting choice and the water outage on the last day was unfortunate, but couldnt be helped.

The location, price, facilities and genuinely attentive staff make this THE perfect place to stay with a group. The easy walk to the V&A Waterfront, the AMAZINGLY helpful staff, clean and secure environment are highlights. I also like the fact that this is a training center for the hospitality industry and there are many young folks at the front desk and throughout the property who are eager to assist and learn. Since 2001, I have benefited from bring groups to the Breakwater and it was always a good move.

Part of this was my fault, but at check-in it would be helpful for the front desk staff to ask if it is a group vs individuals registering. I should have directly told members of my delegation to WAIT before trying to check in (but we arrived late, and folks were tired). The logistics of check in lasted way too long and could have been simplified had I spoken to the manager first.

We stayed a week in this hotel and it was great as a base. It was a safe walking distance (2-3 mins) to the V&A waterfront so close to plenty of restaurants and bars. The hotel was clean with air conditioning that worked, the staff were helpful with any queries that we had and there was a great choice for buffet breakfast every morning. We were upgraded to a suite so the extra room space was very much appreciated and it was quiet. The second room with 3 beds was smaller but was suitable. As the hotel has three different blocks, I did request that our rooms be located in the same block which the staff were able to arrange.

With the high temperatures did miss having a pool but as we had lots ot trips arranged it really wasn't an issue and the beach wasn't far away.

Breakwater Lodge is in a great location, just 10 minutes easy walk from the V&A Waterfront and all that it has to offer. The hotel feels safe. The rooms are a decent size and very clean and well looked after. The staff at reception are very helpful. If you're lucky, your room may also have a bit of a view of Table Mountain. I wanted somewhere with modern facilities so that I could spend a couple of days catching up with the outside world in comfort and still enjoy the V&A Waterfront and what Cape Town has to offer. The Breakwater Lodge fitted the bill exactly, and was a good price considering its location.

Everything went well and as I hoped it would.
