We spent 14 nights in The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel in September 2024. The hotel is joyous, relaxed place with kind staff in the reception & attached restaurant. Not to forget cleaning ladies - impeccable service. The location is ideal, meaning a short walk to a plethora of restaurants and essential museums. We disagree with some reviews stating that the surroundings are unsafe. You might see a drug addict or a tipsy tourist coming from wine tasting, but the city is Cape Town, not the village back home. Uber is working nicely, so it's a relatively short ride to for example to boring V & A Waterfront or to townships. Would stay for another two weeks.

I had an amazing stay at the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel! The location is absolutely strategic, right in the heart of Cape Town, making it easy to explore the city’s main attractions. The hotel offers great value for money, with its unique design and comfortable accommodations. A special mention goes to the staff – they were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and always ready to assist with any request. Their exceptional service truly made my experience even more memorable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cape Town!

One thing to note is that the street can get quite lively at night due to the many bars and clubs in the area, which may result in some noise. Additionally, it’s important to stay cautious while walking in the evening as there can be interactions with homeless individuals, which might feel uncomfortable at times. Despite this, the overall experience was fantastic, and I would still highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cape Town!

The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to be in the inner city. The room was spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. I love the huge bath they have in the spacious bathroom. The double glasing works very well at keeping the noise out, so you do not hear the sounds of the city all around you. The breakfast that was included in our package was superb. The restaurant at the bottom, Thirty Ate, has a lovely menu, and their food is very tasty with very healthy portions. The cappuccino and Chai.latte were very good. I personally love the old elevator. I love the look, and it works very well.

There is some maintenance around the hotel that needs to be completed. Our door looked like it had been forced open before that needed some more work. Parking is a problem, so book it in advance. A boutique hotel really should provide more and better coffee in the room. Consider a small coffee maker with capsules.

We've been here for a week. Room on the side street, minimal noise. Staff tried VERY hard to help right from the start (hairdresser, doctor, pharmacy, excursions, THEATER! ...) Great atmosphere, wonderful theater performance in the hotel, very good breakfast, clean, good room service. Everything was perfect! Thanks Dawn! Good value for money. RoomVery large and clean. Also the bathroom. Walkability, hop-on hop-off station very close, market very close, also the shopping center, cafes, hairdresser, bars... Food and Drinks. Very good breakfast and dinner are available until 10 p.m

This hotel is truly outstanding. The rooms are not only comfortable but also tastefully decorated. The staff and management are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the breakfast meets a correct standard.

However, there is one caveat to be aware of: avoid booking a room that faces the street. Across the street, there is a bar that plays loud music well into the night. Initially, this caused us sleepless nights, but the management promptly relocated us to a room at the rear, resolving the issue. Their swift action and commitment to guest satisfaction earned them a well-deserved five-star rating.

A truly unique stay - I have never slept in a camper/ trailer. Beautifully made up and functional.

Area is incredibly noisy - from clubs, to cars backfiring - did not really get a good night’s sleep. However we did spend a Saturday night there, so maybe not the best decision on our side. We are tall - all in excess on 1.7m - beds could not accommodate us all. Room rates the same as some 5 star hotels near by with historic luxurious feel and soundproof rooms. Great for 1 night.

Friendly staff, hotel situated jn the heart of Cape Town (good location), very good breakfast, neat rooms, good clean linen, good beds and pillows, the architecture of the building is beautiful, the rooftop views are stunning, the old escalator still in good working order

The international plug in my room burned out my GHD hairdryer within a second of switching it on , it was reported to staff but no feedback, bathroom of room 207 needs a paint as there are some rusty areas on wall, shower has lots of grime (needs a proper clean), no proper tv channels, no remote to work the tv’s airconditioning in rooms barely cooling the rooms, carpets in hotel need to be replaced (looks old and full of old marks)

The location was fantastic, everything was in walking distance. The free breakfast was delicious.

I wish we'd gotten a warning about the rooftop parties on Friday and Saturday evening. Though they finished around 11pm, staying in room 314 meant the sound ended up amplified even with the windows closed. The bathroom door also didn't close properly.

It is great for a group of friends. The staff made our stay!!! It was the best service I have ever had at any hotel. From capacino's at 6 in the morning to opening the bar at 12 at night after coming back from rugby game. Parking your car. Organising snacks. Or tv to watch final. They have a great team!!! The trailors are beautiful inside. Have everything you need. With lovely "lounge" and bar area.

You are in the City, which is great!! So over weekends the city dont sleep. Its not noisy, but you can hear the cars at night. Im a light sleeper... But it was still worth it!!!
