From the moment we booked, everything was brilliant. John's communication was excellent and he was very accommodating even despite our flight being delayed and not arriving close to midnight. We arrived to a beautiful big , warm and cosy room - we immediately felt at home. We had amazing sleep! The breakfast was brilliant too - John makes a beautiful porridge and eggs, and has nice little treats for brekkie. He also gave us really good insights into what to do in Edinburgh. Finally, John was very accommodating for us with leaving our bags, etc which we really appreciated. Had an amazing time and would 100% recommend Mc Craes BnB to everyone.

We dont want to tell how great the location is otherwise we cant stay at John next time because he will be fully booked. Location is in a quiet street on walking or bus distance from the city center in a classic building. Breakfast options available for the hungry and less hungry. Breakfast is on one large table with other guests which was fun for us. Clean and professional while still personal. John is a great guy.

That we could not drink the champagne provided by John on the streets with the neighbourhood because of bad weather and cancelled fireworks. Also we were not amused that there was not a giant flatscreen tv and a private aquarium with mini sharks in the room. ;)

We had a ground floor room facing the street. The neighbourhood was quiet, beds were comfy and we slept very well. The room was clean and had adequate space too. I loved the Faith in Nature toiletries and like that John promotes environmentally friendly living. His breakfast was better than expected for a continental. Great variety, good quality (local organic) and plenty to eat. He also provided some good suggestions of things to do in the area. I particularly liked the shops and eateries along nearby Broughton St., and it's not far from St. James Quarter. Highly recommend John's place and feel free to play the piano! :)

I prefer strong showers, but it seems water pressure across UK is generally weaker, and possibly related to drainage and water saving initiatives. Other than that, it was perfect.

One particularly thoughtful feature was the presence of USB slots in the lamps, eliminating the need for adaptors. Beyond the exceptional amenities, John himself is a gem of a host. His genuine kindness and willingness to assist made me feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. His attentive nature and helpful recommendations enhanced my overall enjoyment of the trip. In summary, our stay at John's accommodation was outstanding. Combined with John's exceptional hospitality, this was undoubtedly the best booking experience I've ever had. Nothing to point out. It was perfect.

Lovely B&B, owner takes very good care of the rooms and the guests! Our booking included breakfast and there was a great range of cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt, and drinks. The room was a generous size and the bed was incredibly comfy. Location is great, quiet road and not too far from city centre and the tram stop.

The only thing I can think of to improve is to add blackout curtains in the rooms, as the sun was quite bright in the mornings during our stay. Otherwise, everything else about our room and stay was perfect!

We had an amazing stay, John was a fabulous host! The room was very clean and comfortable as well as spacious. Tea/coffee/biscuits restocked and room given a small clean every day. The included breakfast was so delicious and a wide variety of options. John was such a great host, very friendly and attentive, he even gave us some lovely recommendations for local restaurants. Incredible value for money especially considering the time of year so close to Christmas! Thank you for an amazing stay and hopefully see you again one summer during the festival!

There is really nothing to dislike!

Although some my say this location was a little bit further out we found it to be PERFECT. It was a short walk or bus ride, just 3 stops (No 8) and you were in the heart of the city AND it was quiet! Very important for us. John was a very pleasant host and his breakfast was excellent, I can thoroughly recommend the creamy porridge but all the choices were fantastic. Our room was clean, spacious, comfortable and warm with a good sized bathroom. There are only 3 rooms and this meant everything was serviced really well, we also met some lovely fellow guests. We were able to leave our bags on our last day and collect them when it was time to go home. The other nice thing about the location is that there are some lovely restaurants in nearby Broughton Street. There is so much choice in Edinburgh it can become confusing but this district is definitely worth a visit.

There was nothing to dislike! I truly cannot fault it. The location, room, breakfast and host were all to our liking. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and we will revisit.

We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone! John was a great host, communicated well, and the rooms were lovely. The pictures online do not do them justice. The rooms are large, very clean, comfortable and stylish. It was a delicious breakfast. John even packed us 'to go' breakfast when we had to leave at 5am for our flights. Stay here - you'll love it!

Room was very quiet, clean,and comfortable, host was outstanding - thoughtful, hospitable, and friendly but not at all intrusive. Breakfast choices were excellent and the quality was very high.

Nothing to dislike. The only possible improvement that I could imagine are that the shower water, which was warm enough for me, may not not be hot enough for some.

Our host for friendly and the place was absolutely lovely. John, our host, helped us get settled in and everything was exactly as explained when booking the room. Breakfast was lovely with all different options of pastries, fruit, etc. I loved the location and would definitely stay over when we visit again.
