The hotel was magnificent, perhaps the most beautiful in London. The decor is breathtaking, from room to lobby. An excellent luxury hotel. The staff were extremely professional, kind and helpful, truly 5-star. The room had all the amenities and was comfortable and gorgeous, but wasn't as clean as one would expect. The bath tub was so comforting, and the marble in the bathroom was beautiful and luxurious. The breakfast wasn't great but lunch with room service was excellent, we had the burger and carbonara. The location is terrific, just two minutes away from Gloucester Road Underground Station, quite a useful one with Piccadilly, District and Circle line services. East reach to all of Central London (City, Westminster, Soho, Covent Garden, etc). We had a Swedish massage in the spa which was one of the best we ever had. The spa staff are amazing as well, very welcoming and helpful. The sauna however is quite small and we didn't really enjoy it.

As written above, we didn't really enjoy breakfast and the sauna, and the room wasn't as clean as one would expect from such a wonderful hotel.

The hotel does not cater for the volume and therefore staff can offer individual attention. One can have breakfast with dignity and not fight through a crowd, as is the case with most hotels. It is very quiet and the rooms are bigger than standard. Toiletries are high quality, complementing the high quality of the furnishings. The location is upscale. The building is a historical building and the hotel respected this rather than partitioning the much bigger Victorian rooms into much smaller modern ones. The traveller who loves that epoch will find great appeal in this hotel.

We liked the hotel was near Harrods and other places we wanted to visit within the area. Hotel was secure and safe with card needed to access lift and rooms. Quiet location. Staff were very polite and eager to help when asked. Room service available if needed. We liked the heated flooring in the hallway and warm throughout, beds were very comfortable. Liked the free toiletries to use and mini fridge to stock our provisions.

The room was a little tired looking in areas, stains on the chair, sofa and headboard. Bathroom needs remodelling in areas, side of the bath, grouting. Room was dusty in areas, curtains needed steaming to deep clean.

My 20th visit to this hotel. Last few were mixed bag. This time, things appeared better overall for the cleanliness, room furnishings and house keeping. They are always short staffed (always) which means no one ever picks the phone up - be it house keeping, reception or an operator- the phones would keep rining and ringing and ringing.. so if you need anything, you need to physically come down to the reception.

Short staffed and dining room staff never visible. For 2 days in a row, walked to the dining room for b'fast but staff fully engrossed in their phones and didn't bother looking and left for the kitchen.. Walked out and ended up having b'fast for all 3 days next door to a great new b'fast place "The Other Kitchen".. Wish the management took interest in improving this incredibly great property with awesome large rooms, decor, bathrooms and furnishings.. Short staffing is killing this iconic property

There was quite a bad sewer smell in the lobby Our TV had no volume but we didn’t turn on the TV until late, and didn’t want to disturb the staff Very dated, from head to toe. It didn’t bother us, but just very dull

Every thing was perfect! This property was recommended by my parents who used to book here five years ago. The location is really convenient and inside the neighbourhood so it is actually pretty quiet. Cozy place with good service. Highly recommended.

The pillows were too soft for us…

I remember visiting when it was his Lordships residence as my mother was receiving her diploma of further education in 1986 direct from from his hands with merit, being able to play in the elevators. I Love the marble architecture and the timeless beauty of the place with specific reference to the paintings on the wall, the facilities are above class and I chose this hotel for its personal room spa bath and its healing properties. The breakfast was excellent with eggs and meats cooked to order, the staff were helpful, polite and efficient. The TV is a satellite receiver and all channels were available and reasonably priced. The room facilities are beautiful, the bed was very comfortable with AC in the room that works very well. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I cannot say I didn't like anything; it was exactly how I remember it, how many hotel rooms, the newly built hotels in London would a person hesitate to have a fine classical Italian red wine in. This place is just perfect to relax and chill in. Just be advised the rooms are not sound proof. The hotel could do with an extended room service. The doors are sometimes locked at night and a smoking area could be provided elsewhere than out the front. There is a 24 hour reception.

-Room was very spacious -Classic style of the hotel -The staff were generally very kind (Special mention night receptionist and front desk staff) -Turkish spa was great (special mention to the masseuse) hot stone treatment was great, le kalon treatment (hammam + Swedish massage) wonderful.

-Hotel needs a quick renovation (keeping the style but changing some carpeting … textiles and so on) for it to keep its initial levels of comfort. -For a 5* finding the room with an empty mini bar was kind of a surprise, the bar closes very early at 22:30 rather than 00:00 or 1:00.

Excellent location in South Kensington with Gloucester Road tube station only a five minute walk. Excellent service and staff. Room was fantastic and spacious on the top floor.
