Near Victoria Station, just past a fragrant enclosed (private) park, Portico Hotel is in a well-maintained white townhouse in an attractive row of similar historic buildings on St. George’s Lane. Desk service is excellent, room was comfortable and restful and quiet when nearby guests were out. Large TV and very nice bed, excellent state-of-the-art plumbing. Continental breakfast downstairs was meticulously presented.

As others have mentioned, the rooms are small with just enough room to walk around the bed and open doors to bath and closet. Ground floor room (all single rooms are on the 4th floor with no lift, so I upgraded to a “deluxe double” to avoid stairs) opened to an air shaft with no view.

Was a little worried after reading other reviews that this hotel would be terrible but was so surprised. I contacted them prior to arrival to request a ground floor room as I was travelling with my mother who's not great on stairs. They accommodated my request and she was delighted we had a 4 person room and although the room was small we fitted comfortably as it was well designed. It was great value for money we paid just over 500 for 3 night 4 people so for that price didn't expect much to be honest but it was beautiful. I will definitely return as great location but the best part was the outstanding service the staff couldn't do enough for us. Even ordered an user from there own account so we didn't get ripped off on a black cab. So sorry I can't remember the lads names but all the staff were great can't wait to return

Extremely helpful receptionist, especially when it came to storing my "special" food in their fridge and freezer, and letting us leave bags all day on our check-out day so we could trawl around London empty-handed. Above and beyond. Decor is in good condition for its age, and the extra "public" corridor toilet has an edge of gold-trimmed luxury that was most unexpected, worthy of talking photos!

Shame that breakfast is no longer available (kitchens and dining area exist but it seems they stopped because of COVID and never went back). Our room was very cramped (double bed almost filled the room) which made accessing suitcases on the floor very uncomfortable: this could be improved by proving two of those foldaway suitcase "tables" to lift cases off the floor allowing access while sitting on the bed.

Amazing front of house. I stayed for 3 nights with my disabled daughter as I had ask before our visit for a ground floor room, they obliged without question. Excellent location. Victoria station and Tube a 10 minute walk away. Our room was exceptionally clean with tea and coffee facilities in the room. Very comfortable beds. Clean towels and shower soaps/hair and conditioners in dispensers. Our room G3 had good storage space for clothes and suitcases. A safe located in the wardrobe too.

Nothing. For the price of a boutique/budget hotel in the centre of London, we had no complaints.

The hotel is in a great location, just ten minutes walk from Victoria station. It’s nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable and it was very clean. There were plenty of tea and coffee making supplies on hand and nice toiletries in the bathroom.

The room was quite small and as it was on the lower ground floor there was no window so felt a little closed in. Walking around the bed was a challenge as there was very little space between the bed and the wall and I had to lean forward whilst shuffling past because the tv was on the wall. I would ask for an upstairs room should I stay again.

About an 8 minute walk from Victoria Station. The staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating. A quaint, small hotel. Coffee shop, restaurants and pastry goodies just around the corner.

No elevator, that said after a 10 hour plane, train and short walk we were faced with 6 "sets" of stairs to room. I would never have made it up to the room without the staff gracious help. A bit of dusting under beds and sides of nightstands would be a plus. Even though the bedding was clean there were a bit too many visible stains and should consider some newer linens or different washing service.

What a great hotel. The hotel and room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with professional and happy staff. We were upgraded to a deluxe three bedroom room as we were late arriving for a theatre show and rushing. The reception had a 24hr bar with a small seating area and room service. We asked the prices of the drinks which were exceptionally reasonable. There was also a toilet in the reception area. Their luggage storage was spacious and kept safe in a room guests could not access. The hotel was a less than 10min walk to Victoria Train and Underground and closer to Victoria Coach Station. The area was quiet with little traffic and no bars or shops.

Room was quite small,when I booked said it was a city view, it wasnt it was a view of a wall as we was in the basement.Was disappointed in there being no cooked breakfast available even though there was room service available where you could order meals to your room.The bar consisted of a few bottles behind the reception desk.Also said on the website that there was 2 vending machines for drinks and snacks,there wasn't any.Quite misleading information on the website.Luckily we only slept at the hotel as was out and about during the day but was a clean and comfortable room all be it a little small

Compared to many hotels in London in a similar price range, the hotel was clean, well-maintained and the room fittings were up-to-date and fully functional. The shower in particular was excellent considering I was on the top floor.

The single room I took on the top floor was really difficult to move around, and at 5' 11", I don't think I'm especially tall. It would have been unbearable for someone taller. But this is a discomfort one can cope with for the price and location.

Great location and helpful staff The hotel’s location is excellent – very convenient for exploring central London. The front desk staff were extremely kind and helpful throughout our stay. The room was quite small, but had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and we even had a small terrace, which was a lovely surprise.

The only downside was that during our 3-night stay, housekeeping never visited the room – not even to take out the trash. Aside from that, everything else about the hotel was very good.
