Hotel is in a great location with a lovely view overlooking the sea and coastline - it was worth booking room with a coastal view! All staff were very friendly & helpful and food was very tasty. Perfect for beach & coastal walks & browsing the nearby shops. Lots of water based activities available in Newquay for the sports lovers. Tea and coffee facilities in room were replenished each day along with lovely Cornish biscuits and cleaning service was excellent. On the morning of our departure we had to leave before breakfast started but the staff on duty very kindly accommodated us with coffee, toast etc which was greatly appreciated.

The decor on corridors leading to bedrooms looked rather dated but the bedroom itself was modern in comparison.The shower door over the bath could do with an upgrade. Otherwise, no complaints!

The hotel was in a very good location for the beach and town centre, parking facilities were very good but best to pre book, the food in the bar downstairs was very nice and good value, breakfast was good with plenty of choice, our room was at the back of the hotel with a sea view, the room was very nice and the bed was especially comfortable, very clean and a nice touch with the biscuits on the beverage tray, l especially liked the coffee machine, we had a very nice stay in this hotel and would recommend it.

The only negative l can say is certain areas in our room and the hotel could do with a little spruce up like a lick of paint here and there, and maybe a new shower head ours wasn't great.

Staff were great. The view from the room was poor, but I did not ask for a room with a decent view, so no complaints. My mother, who has mobility issues was in a room close to mine, and had a walk-in shower, so this met with my request. We booked a table for a meal on the Wednesday evening. We were given a table next to the windows, so had a nice view of the sea. The meal: gammon, eggs and chips, was excellent. We didn't have to wait long for the meals to arrive, too.

The tv was antiquated. When scrolling tv channels I had to wait for the channel to fully change before I could scroll to the next channel. I could have punched in the channel number if I knew what was on, but didn't. My mother's tv was fine though. There was someone walking up and down the corridor outside my room (creaky floorboards) at about six am on one of the mornings, which woke me up. I don't know if it was a guest or member of staff, but they did this for a good ten minutes.

Fantastic sea view from the room. Great value for money. The room was a good size. We had tea, decaf tea, fruit tea, coffee pods, milk, hot chocolate powder, two packs of biscuits. These were topped up the next day which was great. I didn't try breakfast so can't comment. The bathroom had a mirror light above the sink which was good to use in the night.

The room needed some TLC. The TV was a bit small. The hallway and stairwell reeked persistently of cooked mushrooms. Yuck. The lift was uncomfortably small for two people with a single suitcase and creaky. The bathroom needed some TLC. There was shampoo and hand wash soap supplied but no body wash.

I loved almost everything about the property! The single room I stayed in was perfect, cosy but still plenty of place to store things. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, beautiful big fluffy towel and the room was fresh and clean. The housekeeping staff were all lovely and you just can’t beat the location of the great western.

Only thing that stopped the hotel receiving a perfect score was the lack of temperature control in the room. The top floor desperately needs some kind of cooling system in the hot whether as the rooms become very warm and stuffy.

Blond reception lady very helpful & sorted out an iorn for us.... we were attending a funeral & our clothes needed pressing. The shower was powerful & very nice. The room was a Twin - 1 double bed and a single. The beds were comfortable, and the linen was clean and of a high thread count. The room also had lovely fruit teas, which were of good quality - there was also instant coffee & hot chocolate available in the room. The hotel heating was comfortable, and the room temperature was perfect. Overall, I was happy with the room. It was clean & comfortable & room maintenance was carried out very professionally. The sticky toffee pudding was enjoyable & touched the spot that was needed. Bar staff were also friendly & helpful. If I needed accommodation in Newquay in the future, I would absolutely consider this option. Clean & friendly

I thought the late checkout was a bit too steep in price £20. I think £15 would be more reasonable. I did not enjoy the macaroni cheese , it was tasteless & the crumbs on top were rather nasty. I was surprised that some of the staff were gathered at the window in the restaurant, watching a car that had to reverse in a difficult situation. This was amusing for the staff as the person was having to reverse up the hill as there was no room out the back to do a three point turn....the staff said it happens often & they seemed to find it really funny. I think that a bigger sign is needed to prevent this from happening & to possibly prevent an accident.

The views were fantastic. The breakfasts were lovely and had a burger one night there and it was great. All staff, including reception, bar and room staff were exemplary. Bus stop right outside the hotel

Bit of a mix up with room on arrival. Was expecting something else but chose to stay in the one allocated which had great views and hubby wouldn’t have agreed to lose the views anyway! Need to check the restaurant windows at least twice a day for seagull poo!

We loved the location suited our requirements exactly. Close enough to Lusty Glaze and close enough to be able to access the town itself. Our room was well maintained and clean, cleaned each day and tea coffee etc refilled. We shall be in contact to book again for the same weekend next year and shall be requesting the same room.

The corridor areas felt a little tired and in need of a little touch up, I appreciate that they are high usage areas, and they were only very minor little details that overall had zero impact on our stay.

the location was great being right next to great western beach which you can watch over at breakfast or if in the restaurant. the room size was generous too and had what we needed. breakfast choices were good and restaurant meals. we went and watched some live music on the friday we were staying but there are other things during the week and live sports on.

not having all parking spaces on site and having to pay £10 per day for this can all add up to the holiday cost. i would recommend booking through the hotel though as we parked just up the road in a car park which is just for the great western. the temperature was a bit warm in our room and the bed was quite uncomfortable being a harder mattress.

Location was the best thing about this property and the staff who were always accommodating and pleasant and helpful. Great location to have drink, chill out literally.Laundry and cleaning system spot on.Reception staff lovely.

Old rugged wood like smell and feel to it. Worn out and molded window corners. The price does not always necessarily reflect the room or sea view. I feel even booking.com as a platform also has to take some part in promising the same room as reflected for the high price point demanded. Small lifts and squeaky floor and no smart tv or even netflix or any app connectivity. Restaurant menu options could be expanded.
