The Griffin Inn was exactly as we expected. We needed a place to rest our heads at night and grab some breakfast before venturing out during the day. The staff were super friendly and the breakfast was very good. When we ate in the restaurant on our first evening the chef even prepared us individual fish pies without the usual prawns and shell fish. The room, although a little small, was clean, warm and quiet. The hotel is right in the centre of town, so convenient for pubs, restaurants and shops, and it's not far from the beach.

The only thing we thought could be improved was the shower in the en-suite bathroom. The shower head dripped (we stopped the noise by placing the head in the shower tray) and the whole unit was a bit tired. Otherwise, everything was clean and tidy.

- Toilet wasn't sparkling clean and toilet brush on the side looked very dirty and off putting. - Room could do with a bit of modernising and smell fresher. - Could hear absolutely everything from neighbouring rooms and anyone walking past. - All the lights and side lamps were linked to one same switch, so it was really bright lighting that couldn't really be adjusted if you only wanted the side lamps on.

The staff at the Griffin were super friendly and were available for all of our requests. The breakfast was basic but very well prepared and of a good quality. The rooms are large and have all of the comforts you would expect. The evening meal was amazing even if we did not to wait a little longer than normal, due to another function which was on at the same time.

If there were a complaint and it would be more of a request than a complaint, would be to have electrical sockets near the bed, as they were on the other side of the room which was not very convenient when needing to charge phones etc.

Friendly, helpful staff. Good choices for breakfast and evening meal. All nicely presented. Room adequate and comfortable, OK for the price paid. Bathroom very clean. Room servicing good most days.

No bedside lights, and inadequate low power ceiling light. Hence room quite dark in evenings. Asked for a higher power led bulb for ceiling, but nothing done. Ended up removing ceiling lampshade myself, just to get a bit more light. Found that the lampshade was just hanging off the light bulb, instead of being secured to light fitting!

As it was a bargain price and reviews are a little mixed we arrived with low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. Check in was quick and simple and the room (room 2) was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Complimentary toiletries and tea tray with a selection of hot drinks and biscuits, extra pillows in the wardrobe, even somewhat of a sea view! The Ritz it isn't, but a solid, good quality three star hotel in a fabulous location at a bargain price it certainly is and we wouldn't hesitate to book again. On-site parking is free, which is a huge bonus in Newquay. Breakfast was hot, fresh and tasty and the staff were fantastic, friendly, efficient and professional. Location couldn't be better. A little gem.

Being super picky, the windows (inside) and the bedroom mirror could have done with a clean, a few black mould spots on the ceiling, no pillow protectors.

Our first impression was the sea view from our bedroom window as we weren’t expecting one The room was clean and well stocked with tea/coffee and toiletries We stayed for our evening meal which was so good we booked in for Sunday Carvery Lunch The breakfast was excellent well cooked and presented The on site parking was impressive and the central location was just what we were looking for

The mattress was basic with no mattress topper so was not comfortable One of us slept better than the other The pillows need replacing as had no ‘bounce’ left

Me and my daughter went down to newquay for the first time, and we stayed at the Griffin, not only is it across the road from the train station, it is close to the shops and the beaches. The room was a very good size, it was very clean the staff were all lovely and we met several, breakfast was included in the price and it was lovely and freshly cooked each morning, we had a meal in the pub one evening and not only was it very reasonably priced, the staff couldn't do enough and the food was amazing.

Superb breakfast. Great quality food and excellent service in the restaurant and generally throughout the whole hotel. Location is fairly central and in walking distance of town and beaches, etc.

Could do with some net curtains or blinds on the windows otherwise people in the Travelodge behind the hotel can see directly into your room and vice-versa. Also, water pressure is not great in the bathroom, both with the toilet and the shower, and we note that other people have mentioned this in their comments over the year. So considering this booking was well into the winter season (December), maybe it's not unreasonable to expect the owners to have done something about this by now. However, this was not a biggie and everything else made up for that and would definitely come back

This is a wonderful Inn to stay in, central location, parking available, staff were amazing and the breakfast and evening meal (photo) were delicious. Finding the Inn was easy and Parking is on a first come first serve basis, there were 2 available when we arrived at 3pm. The staff were brilliant from start to finish, so lovely and friendly. The room (no 5) was big twin room with tea/coffee, shower was massive, very clean and tidy. Beds were firm and comfortable. Great choices for breakfast, and the evening meal was absolutely delicious, I had the steak and ale pie and I can explain in richness😋 We stayed Wed-Fri and whilst there is a bar across the road the revelry stopped pretty much after closing time, might be a different story on weekends, and I suppose it depends on if your room was in the front or back of the premises. We would recommend this inn for your Newquay stay, and would definitely stay here again.

My only criticism which is very minor is that there was no side lamp in our room (room 5). It’s nice to have a low level lighting available, but not essential.

The location was perfect. Staff very helpful couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect. The food was good

The service for breakfast on Saturday 21st September was not very good. We waited 20 minutes before our order was taken. The person that was serving was not has good has the person that worked Monday to Friday. The shower was not accessible has you had to step in. Which is no good for a disabled person
