The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful, with a special mention for Bethan (who helped me find the hotel when I was walking up on the day of arrival) and Aoife for all the (very much appreciated!) fuss she made of my dog Effi. Breakfasts were delicious, with a very good variety in the buffet and a good range of cooked food, made freshly to order. The food in the Sixty bistro was also excellent, and I really appreciated being able to bring Effi in with me. The location was perfect for us, as it gave us easy access to walks on the beautiful Fistral Beach and the headland. And the swimming pool was a lovely place to spend an hour in the evening after a day out-and-about. All-in-all an ideal place to spend a long weekend.

I booked a single room for me and the dog and it was quite small -- on reflection, I might have been better off booking a double room (thankfully my dog is more Pomeranian than Great Dane in size!) We were only staying for a long weekend, but it seemed slightly unusual that the room wasn't visited by housekeeping during that time. However, the room was certainly clean on arrival and I only had to ask at reception for fresh supplies of tea-bags and milk, so it wasn't a massive problem.

I was really impressed that in spite of thinking I had booked a basic single room I was given a double room. My room was nice and the extra facility of a shower over bathtub rather than just a shower cubicle meant that I had the option to take a bath if I needed a soak after a day out walking around. My only complaint with the rooms is I wish the wardrobes were proper with doors rather than open hanging rails. Also I had the option to grab lots of extra milk and teabags from reception. I really like the cooked breakfast at the hotel and that they are very accommodating to requests for various combinations of the breakfast. I have to rate the sausages for being much nicer than the ordinary catering sausages found in some establishments. They also had a good selection of teas and the option of decaf coffee at breakfast. I can't comment on the cereal selection as I didn't look. I like the fact that there are so many jams, preserves and spreads on offer to go on to bread/toast. My room looked out over the car park and streets opposite so not the most exciting, but being a floor higher than where I normally find myself I could see over into the Gannel and farther countryside. The view doesn't particularly bother me as I am not spending hours in my room.

I wish it was a bit more obvious how to book to dine in the main restaurant. It was open most nights as there was a coach party staying onsite. While I am okay eating in the bistro on some nights, sometimes I would like to eat a bit differently and don't want to venture offsite alone at night to find a restaurant. Also a half board guest option would be good.

The reception staff made the experiance so much better, they always kept an eye on us making sure we are ok and we had everything we needed, very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them, couldnt fault the staff, genuine nice people. The bistro was lovley, and along with the staff running it. The swimming pool was nice and clean, with loungers and a couple of places to change which was good. The room was nice and big. Me and my partner really enjoyed going downstairs to play table tennis and pool on the rainy days.

Its not something that usualy bothers us but if i have to be a little constructive, the bathroom in our room could have been a little cleaner with a few stains on the wooden shelves from previous customers. Also a fair amount of dust. We are not really that fussed by this as we loved our stay, but i could see other customers potentialy complaining about it considering it was the deluxe room.

The hotel was well decorated and very clean in the public area that I saw. The staff were exceptional. I had trouble getting down to Newquay that day and to the airport the next morning. A big thank you to the lovely Liz/Elizabeth on reception. I only stayed for 1 night, the bistro served excellent food and everyone I met were very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfy and warm. It has a lift which is a must if you have mobility issues. Breakfast was very varied with lots of choice. The service was excellent. Thank you for making me welcome and helping me. There is a wonderful and very hardworking team at this hotel.

As I have health issues I usually try and arrive around 2pm so I can rest. There is a high charge I feel for checking in before 4pm. As it happened I was delayed so it didn't matter. Also my single room was quite scruffy. No kind of bedside table and lots of marks on the walls. These are the reasons that I wouldn't be able to stay again.

Breakfast was superb my sister and I had our evening meal there as well and it was just scrumptious and the breakfast is first class I think the chef is a real asset to the hotel All the staff are great and Blue was very pleasant and helpful Suoerb thank you all

Perhaps a shuttle going into town not free but had to get taxis a lot and they are not cheap

Loved the pool, and the view was ok. The location was perfect for what we needed.

The bed was a little uncomfortable. We had two dogs ( spaniels), so the room was a little small. I didn't like the full English.I didn't taste fresh. Some of the older staff came across as blunt. And I felt because we had dogs that we were excluded from the main restaurant. And not the same service. As we were forgotten about on one occasion in the morning. We have stayed in other dog friendly hotels and been included within the restaurant area. But saying that, we did enjoy our stay.

i have stayed here a few times before with family a few years ago so i decided to visit again with my partner. i love the quiet location and how close we are to the beach. we enjoyed the coastal path to the town lovely views and an easy walk. i also found it convenient that there’s a bus stop right outside the hotel that goes to the town centre perfect for the cold evenings. we loved the swimming pool facilities very clean. we ate in the restaurant twice and the food was amazing. the first night we had pizza and ribs and the second we both had the pulled pork burger and wow ! the room was a great size and perfect for what we needed. all staff were lovely especially the duty manager she was working every night we were there on reception the bar and restaurant. the bar prices were good and we liked sitting there and relaxing. very welcoming staff and just a great time we really enjoyed it.

The room was lovely and clean (albeit a little bit small), the bed was lovely and comfy and the food was delicious! The staff were also fantastic and extremely helpful.

My only complaint was that the shower was very small and claustrophobic, although admittedly I am a big guy who is also very tall. I also found the handle for the cold water in the shower to be very stiff. Until I had managed to push the handle for the cold water back far enough, the water came out scolding hot. Admittedly I am 27 stone and with a 55inch waist but I was only just able to fit through the shower doors. The design of the shower doors was also faulty because I found the door to bang against the handle for the cold water. In order to get the door to open fully, I had to wedge the door between the tap handle and the wall. Had I not have done this, I would not have been able to get into the shower. Beware of this if you are of large build.

Good location, easy to find if you’re new in Newquay, it’s a 8 minute drive to where I work during the weekend stay and 4 minute drive to Newquay town centre. Lots of free parking spaces available, first come first serve basis. I booked a standard single room and I was on third floor. Lift is available, I stepped out right in front of my room. The bedroom itself, I love it, bed is so comfortable, near/clean spacious room and bathroom, and drawers/closet available to hang/put your clothes into. Very peaceful and quiet at night, slept very well every night after long day of work. Thank you.

Nothing really, love the place. Definitely recommend if you coming to Newquay for short stay.

The room was clean and tidy all the staff very helpful friendly and welcoming. Fantastic room with lovely views . We had the same room as last year . Swimming pool and gym clean and easily accessible. Parking on site no problem as there’s some extra parking to the rear of the hotel . It’s an old hotel but it’s nice and comfortable and chilled out . Handy if you want to surf on fistral beach or or short walk to Crantock beach via the fern pit steps down to the Gannel or ferry . Roughly 25 min walk into Newquay road regular bus service outside hotel to Newquay bus station where you get anywhere in Cornwall from there .
