The hotel was clean but we wasn't told that you had to scan your key to make thei lift work.

I tried to take a picture of the sunrise but the windows were too dirty, no water in the room, the aircon wasn't working, no phone to ring reception, generally a lack of information, the room was a privilege room, but was very small and not worth the £159 I payed and no breakfast included, no wardrobes to hang clothes only a small rail which was above the kettle so if you boiled the kettle your clothes got steamed won't be staying here again.

Hotel is in a nice spot, parking is 15 pounds for the weekend as well if you park in the bottom of Friars Walk. Staff are very helpful and friendly and dealt with an unruly patron very well. Essentially the absolute tool took some illicit drugs (Was hallucinating) and set the alarm off at 4am. Staff dealt with him well and were very good with everyone else. Staff remained professional even after the police left him (Even though he damaged the hotel) until they eventually came back and took him away. The staff turned absolute chaos into an inconvenience they were apologetic for.

Nothing in the end, wasnt happy at the time of the incident but the hotel sorted everything out and the rest of the weekend was great!

If you need/want to stay in the centre of Newport, this will be the place to go. It's clean, comfortable, well run and has friendly, helpful staff. It's just 5 min from the train and bus stations, so it's easy to get to places like Caerleon. The breakfast is very decent and good value if you book the night before. There may not be a lot open on Sun/Mon evening in Newport centre, so you might want to explore the restaurant if you don't like pizza/fried chicken. There is a luggage storage facility. The upper floors have wide views over the River Usk and the city. Perhaps surprisingly, Newport has a fine partly Norman church just 15 min walk up the hill to St Woolos, definitely worth a visit if you like such things.

There are plenty of drunks around the city centre, but give it a chance and it's no worse than most these days.

Newport is very small city. We searched a lot & at last we found this hotel. We visited other hotel. I am not going to say name of those but we were disappointed & cancelled the booking on spot. This hotel is clean, secure & in the centre of city. The hotel has small gym which is accessible to all upto 10 pm. They have a good restaurant at level 3 which is partly inside n parley at terrace. One can enjoy the view of the city. It’s very secure , comfortable. The cleaning staff is commendable. They teach to room sharp at 10 am for cleaning of room on daily basis. They are very quick & professional. All their staff respond to any query or for any assistance they are readily available which is commendable. I don’t think so any one can find such good hotel in new port city

I booked the privilege room- the room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful, friendly and polite. The WiFi worked well. I enjoyed having the coffee machine and a beautiful city view. The location was convenient for the purpose of my stay.

The bathroom unfortunately had some hairs on the glass shelf above the sink (from someone who has shaved), and there was some mould in the corner of the shower. The room also offered robes which was nice and made me feel more comfortable but I noticed that one of the robes (there was two in the room as it was a double room) had not been cleaned properly after someone with fake tan had used it. In addition, there was a noise coming from the bathroom (sounded like noise from the taps) which would have been quite disturbing if I hadn’t worn ear plugs to sleep. I was not able to use the TV as the menu appeared to be frozen and I wasn’t able to select anything.

The room was spacious, spotlessly and clean. The bed was comfy. The air conditioning worked quietly but efficiently (which was very welcome in the unseasonably warm June). The on-site bar and restaurant offered a decent selection of dishes and drinks at reasonable prices. Nestled a short walk from the quayside and the city centre, the hotel is ideally located. I could easily stroll to the castle, shops, and restaurants without needing to drive. Service throughout the stay was friendly and efficient. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the staff were always happy to help.

Location was great. Beds were REALLY comfrotable - the best part of the room. The presentation and cleaning was good. The view was also quite spectacular. The Terrace in the restaurant adds to this - which sits above the main shopping street in the centre of newport. it had all amenties, such as good toilet, massive TV, usb charging points, (which I didn't use) as well as adequate seating. There were also things like irons/ ironing boards/hair dryers within the room. The restaurant was nice enough, The quality was good, not the best - but it WAS a good meal -better than many pubs nearby. There was also a gym, but did not use.

minor maintenance issues : shower plug hole was blocked and the air con seemed to drip or make thudding/tapping noises intermittently- I was woken up by it several times - recommend ear plugs. Restuarant was restricted/hidden and expensive. I had no other issues. None of these issues ruined my stay as such.

I thought this hotel was fantastic and exceeded my expectations. The room we were on had a beautiful view across the river and city. The room itself smelled amazing, was incredibly clean, and very modern. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was spotless and had really nice smelling handwash/shampoo. The breakfast couldn't be faulted at all - really nice food, lots on offer, and was incredibly good value for money. The whole stay was great, we slept really well (and i'm a light sleeper), great location in relation to the train station, and for £80 odd you really won't get a better stay.

The only downside of this stay was the fact my room had a water tank or some kind of boiler directly above the door which meant it gurgled and clonked significantly (room 1014 if the hotel wants to investigate!). This will of course be room by room and is likely a one off so I didn't kick up a fuss and doesn't reflect in our review score, it also didn't disrupt our sleep as it only went off when people were using the toilet/showering, but it was incredibly loud when we woke up.

We booked the junior suite which was amazing and such a good price. The main bed was massive and my 8 year old slept on the pull out sofa bed that one of the staff made up for us, he said it was very comfy. There were 2 wide screen tvs which can connect to Netflix, I didn’t manage to connect and not sure what I was doing wrong. I only tried on the bedroom tv and not the living room tv. The bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and walk in shower which was nice and hot. Hotel is right in the centre, shops and food places everywhere which was handy. The next morning my little boy woke up feeling really ill and struggled to get out of bed, checkout was at 11 and our coach home wasn’t until 1 so I was feeling worried about having to take him out in the cold to wait. I spoke to the receptionist and she allowed us to stay in the room until our coach which I thought was so lovely. Station is about 5 mins walk from hotel. I couldn’t fault them, will definitely stay again.

Spacious bathroom/shower. Extensive views from room.

Requested River view but got City view, though City view was nice as it faces South and it was a sunny day. Asked to write out my full details to join hotel group membership at reception when booking in. Seemed not all free-view channels available. Lack of choice of News channels, could only find BBC. Lifts sometimes confusing, not always behaving as expected. Couldn't find a way to display/set temperature in room. Warm when I arrived then sometimes too cool with aircon on.
