My husband and I stayed one night at the Blackfin Resort and Marina earlier this month. Pulling in to the office parking lot, the building looked closed up, not like a place we’d want to stay. Happily, the rooms, located in buildings behind the office, were clean and well maintained. Park right in front of your room. Room 26 had 2 beds, a microwave, good size coffee pot & fixings, and small fridge. Drinks vending machine. The pool looked inviting. The pier area behind the rooms was a very nice touch, with a few picnic tables, a couple of lounge chairs, and a grill--- right on the water, just next to a boat dock.
We felt that the price for our room was high for what it was. This is an older motel--- well maintained, but still, a motel. (We stayed at a lovely, renovated guesthouse in Key West for less per night than Blackfin.) One of the beds in our room had a particularly uncomfortable, lumpy mattress and, while the sheets were clean, I didn't care for the worn bed covers.

The furniture was nice, had good lighting, the room was tidy, the staff was nice and very helpful, the marina was cool, and I liked the big orange chair they had out by the swimming area. We really enjoyed watching the sunset out there on our last night in the keys. The pics on here don’t match exactly what it looks like now bc they updated it after a storm but it’s quite nice. Like 5 minutes from a publix and sombrero beach which is nice but Bahia Honda is better and only 15 minutes away! The pics I’ve included of the room were taken as we were leaving.
The room was pretty small but it was just us two so it was fine. The bed wasn’t very comfy. The window film in the shower had a strip missing so people could peek in so that needs to be fixed. We had to wear wrist bands while on the property because locals have been vandalizing the property. I thought that was kinda strange. Also I think adding weather strips to the doors would be a good idea bc there is a decent sized gap in between the floor and the door. Adding that would help keep the room cool and keep out bugs and little lizards which are everywhere in the keys.

This motel has some nice amenities, like a private beach at the end of the peninsula. There is a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. The flat screen tv is well positioned. There is a table with two chairs if you want to eat in the room. This is one of the lesser priced options for Marathon, but it exceeds my expectations for a lower priced motel. The grounds are well kept and in a park like setting there are tables and grills available. We have stayed here many times and will do so in the future as well.
I have only two suggestions: Put bar soap in the bathroom that is not so tiny as are in there now. Also the bathroom towels could be larger.

From the road, the motel looks a little run down, but once you get past the front building, it becomes a lovely quiet bit of heaven in the Keys! Nice clean rooms, clean pool with enough of chairs and even a shaded area. Short walk to the marina with a sandy area to sit and watch the sunset, fish, and swim in the shallow area. This is not a resort for picky people. It is a lovely place for the simple guest. Reminds me of Old Florida, and we loved it!
We are simple travellers that love a clean room, comfortable bed, and nice areas to sit outside. We don't require allot of fuss to make us happy. If you need the big screen TV, fancy lounge chairs by the pool, or organic fluffy towels, this is not the place for you! For us, it was a slice of Heaven! I hope they open the restaurant in front of the hotel again. That would make it perfect!

This is your traditional Keys location. This is what imagine the keys were like 40 yrs ago. This place takes you back. No frills, but has everything you ate at the Keys for. Rooms are motel style and clean. There is a pool and marina. Their property has a point that allows you access to the pool water. This area is great , picnic tables, giant chairs to relax ponder the palms and grills to use to enjoy all of this. You can also fish of the right side of hole you are enjoying the view. It’s a as great and we enjoyed our time here.
Nothing. It would be very cool if they got their restraint up and running located on property.

We had a wonderful stay at Blackfin Resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rates were very reasonable. The pool was nice and clean, and the resort was being remodeled to make it even better. My room was spacious and spotless, and I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. I felt right at home at this cozy place. The resort also had bbq areas where I could grill some delicious food. The best part was the amazing views of the sunrises and sunsets over the water. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. enjoyed our
Would've loved the bar to be opened but appeared to be under construction.

Check-in was easy, with information provided on local restaurants. Room was big enough for our 2 night stay, nicely decorated and clean. Bed and pillows comfortable. Good location, near to various attractions and numerous restaurants. Although an old-style motel, the property and buildings were generally well kept. No food available, but plenty of options nearby. Parking right outside the room. A couple of minutes walk takes you down to the marina at the back of the property, with nice views out to sea. Didn't get chance to use the pool, though it looked fine. Taken in isolation, it looks a little expensive, but it's actually good value for the Keys, which are generally very expensive.
Nothing significant worth mentioning.

Didn't have breakfast. We liked the simplicity and Old Florida feel. The location was really good for us. We enjoyed the pool, the relaxing outdoor areas like the picnic areas and walking to the point by the lighthouse to watch the sunset.
It would be helpful to add towel hooks or racks so towels and swimwear could be hung up to dry.

The desk was outstanding when we checked in a little late since our flight in was delayed. He gave me a list of good local restaurants and spots. Our room was spotlessly clean. Even when we refused housekeeping, they still left a bag of clean towels outside the room. The bed felt very firm, but was actually very comfortable. Its quiet at night, we slept great. The pool is clean and warm as bath water. There's a place if you walk past the marina with loungers, tables, a tiki hut and grill. There's also rock steps that take you into the ocean. Key West took about an hour to get to. We will definitely be back.
Couldn't find change to do laundry.

The rooms were lovely; very clean, spacious, comfortable beds and it looks like they are constantly putting in effort to update the space. There was daily housekeeping and coffee supplies were also replenished daily (this is very important if you’re up early to take in all that the keys have to offer)! The property is also great-a variety of rooms, pool, laundry facilities, wifi, sandy waterfront complete with tiki hut, beach chairs and bbq’s!
The wifi wasn’t available in all of the rooms. We were lucky enough to have a room close to the source of the wifi, but who really needs it when you’re in the Keys!
