The food here is excellent, and we appreciated the complimentary coffee/tea/hot cocoa. Staff goes above and beyond - very hospitable, friendly, and communicative. We felt welcomed and right at home upon arrival. It's a historic hotel, so it has some charm & character. Size-wise, rooms are on a smaller size, but that was perfect for us. Nice hot water in the showers. Overall we had a good time! Still missing those raspberry danishes at breakfast. Yum!
It didn't seem like the hotel was fully booked, but the room next to us was occupied and only separated by a regular wooden door. It felt like we had to be extra quiet not to bother them, and like they could overhear everything going on in our room, even from just rolling over in bed, which we were hyper aware of how loud that was. Maybe these rooms were designed for a family, where the kids can stay in an adjoining room, but we didn't love this room in particular for ourselves.

Breakfast was outstanding, especially considering it was free with the room. Yes, they had the usual "continental stuff" if that's what you actually wanted. But every day they have a buffet of to quality food served by a friendly kitchen staff member.
The building is over 100 years old yet beautifully preserved and updated to current codes. If you choose a small room....it will be small! Walls ate thin so hopefully you have considerate neighbors. We did. It's in a historic residential neighborhood, so parking is streetside. These minor inconveniences are tolerable if you love the charm and history as much as we did.

My spouse and I loved: The charm and dedication to authenticity of the Inn; the quiet inside and out; the lack of electronic intrusions including the fact that there is no elevator; the magic of entering into casual, friendly conversations with other guests; books available on bookshelves around the Inn; the easy walk into town (just 15 mins); Bay View itself is just ridiculous in a wonderful way - the sweet cottages and environs almost put me into sugar coma; the breakfasts were filling and varied. We also very much appreciated the absence of screaming children, drunken adults, and horrible live bands.
Our bed was pretty comfortable, but mattress needs replacing due to a "hill" that rose in the center. The door to our room wouldn't latch which made it awkward to lock. The music playing in lobby and dining room was completely wrong for the era. Don't get me wrong, I love the Doobie Bros and Earth, Wind, and Fire, but please...in a beautiful turn of the century inn, play music that adds to the ambiance. The breakfast eggs were dry and tasteless. The dinner menu was pricey and not particularly interesting.

Breakfast was a highlight. The buffet style breakfast in the 8 am to 10 am time slot worked perfectly for our schedule. Not only was the food delicious but there were several choices covering both hot and cold selections. The room was not enormous but it was adequate, comfortable and clean and served the purpose offering very good value for the price paid. The staff was professional, kind and over the top helpful. The staff came outside to verify our parking spot did not violate some parking law. We would definitely return in the future.
The parking lot was small, but the staff was kind enough and helped us get sorted out with on street parking in front of the hotel.

I liked how quaint and cozy it was; I'd almost stay I stepped back in time walking in (some people might not like it, but I did). Breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect in regards to the community it was in and the distance from things I wanted to do. The staff was very friendly. Cute, bright room that had a small closet, small table and chair and a dresser.
The wifi was spotty. The shower head was so short and with the shower so small, it made it very difficult to take a shower ( a shorter person might not have as much of an issue. I'm 5'9" and the water hit my chin/collarbone).

The setting was lovely. The food at dinner was very good and the service was delightful. Everyone we spoke with with kind and yet professional.
I had made a previous reservation through booking.com. When I called the Inn directly to cancel the first reservation, I was told it would be taken care of. The person I spoke with did not tell me i would need to cancel through booking.com, and I thought that was something they would do. A few days later we changed our plans and I ended up reserving a second time, unbeknownst to me the first reservation was never cancelled. Upon arrival I found out that I had paid for two reservations and that I would not be able to get a refund through the Inn. I wish the person I had spoken to when I “cancelled” had directed me to contact booking.com directly. ☹️

The hotel is in a great location. It's a very quiet neighborhood and has easy access to both downtown and roads to other attractions. The breakfast was good and a good way to start the day. The staff was polite and attentive. One must remember that this is an old hotel and the rooms are very small, the floor isn't level and there isn't an elevator. However, it's charming and as long as you remember it's an old hotel, you will enjoy it. You'll expect to see Earnest Hemingway on the veranda.
The parking situation is not good. There is only on-street parking and some nights you get a convenient location and other nights you don't. But, overall, it's okay because the neighborhood is super safe and walking back to the hotel at night isn't an issue.

We stayed in Petoskey since our Michigan Mountain Mayhem bike ride was only 20 minutes away. I picked this place based on location & reviews. When I arrived, I was truly blown away. This place is beautiful and classy. The staff was so welcoming, I felt like I was visiting family. The food was unreal!! Thank you Belinda for a wonderful stay, your smile will always be remembered:). I wish we would’ve had more time to enjoy the beauty of this place, but we are already making plans to come back next year!!

The property is full of old world charm. The bar made lovely cocktails. Check-in was personable and straightforward. Parking on the street right in front of the hotel was easy.
The only downside for me was the walls/floors are quite thin and you can hear folks in other rooms easily. This is just part of staying in an old structure, and was expected. But if you require total silence for a good night sleep it's something to be aware of.

Overall great experience...Brenda was amazing as always (Its our second time visiting)
Found the lady plating breakfast a bit rude...when getting a plate to place my fruit and granola she went crazy and said she is the only one who handles the plates, when i explained i did not want any cooked items and just wanted the plate for my fruit and granola she told me that she is a nurse and I need to grab a glass plate not the other ones because she is the only one who can touch them...ummmm ok, but it was for ME I was the one touching it, why would i want her touching it? And what does her being a nurse have anything to do with it? Get some manners!
