This was a wonderful hotel, providing amazing value for money. There was a decent-sized room with private bathroom, a very good air-con system, fridge and kettle; absolutely everything a solo travel could want for visiting this wonderful city. The location is good as well; about 15 minutes walk across the river to the Citadel and only 5 minutes from the area where most of the restaurants could be found. The hotel has its own bar serving local beers on draft. The staff at the hotel (especially Mary on reception) were so helpful and attentive which enhanced my stay even more. They could offer motorbike hire for just 150,000 VND (about £4.40) and Mary arranged a taxi to the airport when I left. Although I did not need it, they provide a laundry service and can arrange day-trips to the DMZ I would definitely stay here if I was ever lucky enough to visit Hue again

The location is great, very close to the walking street, but far enough to avoid the chaos. The street itself is lively, with lots of cafés, restaurants, shops, and even hair salons around. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They shared great recommendations, including a cool custom Google Maps guide and a list of tours. I stayed in a room with a balcony, it was spotless, cozy, and comfortable. They cleaned it every day and always left fresh water, which was really appreciated in Hue’s hot weather. Just a small note: the bathroom is quite compact, with the shower and toilet in the same space, which might feel a bit tight for some. It wasn’t a problem for me, and it seems to be a common setup in many homestays around Vietnam, just maybe god to know in advance for some :)

The hotel is very affordable and really good for the price. Just keep in mind it’s on a busy street and above a bar, so it can be a bit noisy. But I had no problem sleeping with regular earplugs!

Welcoming host, nice bar downstairs with a great beer selection. The street-facing balcony room was spacious, and the balcony was large. Within walking distance from the citadel (20-25 min). The host gives you a custom Google map with a bunch of local POI's, which is very helpful. You can organize a bunch of day trips from the hotel directly. The boiler is in the room, so hot water was never an issue.

There's no real furniture on the balcony, apart from a single stool. One or two of those camping chairs they use everywhere would have made it more comfortable. Not a real complaint, but the shower is sort of combined with the toilet. I didn't mind, but this is definitely not for everyone.

I had such a wonderful stay here! It is in a great spot so was easy to walk to things or use a Grab. It was my coziest stay in Vietnam so far with very cute rooms and so many thoughtful details. The host has really thought of everything and even has a little directory and Google Map with saved spots and recommendations that he shares when you check in. Literally every one of the staff was so kind and helpful and thoughtful and caring. I am truly so sad to leave and wish I would have stayed longer! Thank you so much for having me and I hope to come back again!

Good location in the city centre, close to cafes and shops. Room was comfortable and clean, great for the price. Staff were lovely!

Very noisy! Next to a school which starts at 7am and traffic can be heard easily. I didn't have a window in my room which was a shame, only frosted glass out onto the corridor. The shower was cold despite turning the heating switch on. On my second and last night the WiFi went down on the whole street and was still not fixed in the morning. This was annoying as I went back early to relax and call family, which I couldn't do.

Great stay in the heart of the city! I had a double room and really enjoyed my time here. The room was clean, comfortable, and I slept very well. For light sleepers just keep in mind that there is a social space on ground level, it didn't bother me to much since I sleep with earplugs 😉 The staff were super friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with anything I needed. Communication was quick and smooth throughout my stay. Would definitely recommend staying here, you’ll feel well taken care of!

10/10 for the staff. Great communication, super friendly, helpful and welcoming. They were always available and gave WhatsApp contacts for if we needed anything. The place is well located and excellent value for money. Their advice on good places to eat was accurate and helpful also. Taxi arranged as requested and also good value.

There were 2 things that prevented me giving a maximum review score. The noise was severe - street noise loud until late and a school next door that kicked off loudly with a lot of noise -- and drumming - at 7am! We were tired! The bathroom required strategic planning as the shower was over the toilet and sink. If anyone showered, the floor and toilet was soaking and slippy and you could not really use it. It was also very cold for 2 nights but no heating - just aircon.

This hotel is the perfect stay in Hue. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The highlight was the amazing staff who made you feel so welcome, and were so helpful! We were provided with tips and recommendations for food, sightseeing, cafes, and anything else you would need in the city. We adored the bar downstairs, and couldn’t resist grabbing a drink on the way out each night as there was a great selection of lovely drinks and beers. We loved our stay, and we hope to some day come back!

Among all the hotels I stayed at in Vietnam, Purple Hue is THE one where I REALLY felt at home and would recommend blindly. Every staff member has been so lovely but not clingy or pushy in any way. They have just been perfect: giving great advice, making sure I feel great, asking if I needed help and even said "welcome home" every time I arrive at the hotel. How cute is that? On top of that, they recommended a great easy driver for the Hai Van Pass. Honestly, I would rate it 12/10 if I could, loved it. Thank you for everything! 💕

What a great hotel and fantastic staff! I arrived in Hue and only had one day to explore the city. The owner offered tailored recommendations of what she thought was the best way to spend my time in Hue and also saved the places to my map app so they were easy to find. I am very happy to say that I chose to follow each and every advice. Thanks to her great suggestions I went to see not only the imperial city but also the big pagoda to the west of the city, I tried salted coffee for the first time and I had the VERY best Vietnamese meal on my entire trip in a restaurant just down the street, that she recommended. Not only that, but the hotel has a huge selection of tasty Vietnamese beer in the bar area downstairs where I was able to do some work after a long day while drinking ice cold local beer. The room was very nice at the price. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at this lovely place and with this lovely and caring staff!
