I was visiting the Utilita Arena on a Saturday night and this hotel location was brilliant to catch the tram (less than 1 minute from the hotel) and leave the car behind. Inexpensive quiet and comfortable room (at the back), late bar, decent breakfast, all made for a pleasant overnight stay.

A hotel car park would improve this rating, however, there is 4 hrs free on-street parking behind the hotel in Livery Street. From 4pm until 12noon next day should be sufficient for an overnight stop. If driving, remember this is inside the clean air zone!

Clean, comfortable facilities with very helpful and polite staff. In my room I had twin queen size beds, a luggage stand, a shower en-suite, a hairdryer, a workspace, a good mirror, TV and closet space. It felt secure and was reasonably quiet in spite of the metro line being right outside. The temperature was good, and I had a good night's sleep without too much interruption from other guests. There were plenty of options at breakfast for my dietary requirements (gluten free). The excellent close connection with the West Midlands Metro stop, St. Paul's, right outside was a bonus and a large part of why I selected this hotel. I felt safe as a lone female traveller arriving at night walking between the metro and hotel entrance. Check in was easy and check out time at 11am was a bonus - a bit more time to relax in my room. The lounge facilities were comfortable and I could easily find somewhere to charge my devices even after check out. I also loved that it was only a couple of stops on the metro to get into the city and make onbound travel connections through New St station, and affordable too.

My shower didn't drain very well so I kept having to turn off the shower and wait for it to slowly drain before restarting it. There was nothing visibly blocking the trap - the whole thing was spotlessly clean. I did report this to the reception so hopefully it is something that is easy to resolve. I was in Room 321 for reference. The way you have to use your room card in the lift to access your floor is a reassuring security measure but also rather fiddly and took a few goes to get it to work.

Like everything. Reception should inform you that when using lift you have to tap your hotel key card on screen next to floor button before selecting floor number…will only let you exit on your designated floor (guest informed me,as couldn’t get lift to move)Also have to insert key into panel in room to activate lights etc…Never experienced this before in hotel…took abit of working out ..

The room was big enough for the 3 of us - 2 adults and 1 child. The bathroom was wonderful, plenty of towels and provided hand soap, shampoo, shower gel etc. The reception staff were ok, a couple of them quite moody at times. Breakfast was brilliant, with a range of things to choose from. They could do with providing some vegetarian options with the full english. Coffee was great and lots of juices to choose from. The food was replenished often too. The young lady on the breakfast shift was lovely and helpful.

The area was very rundown and didnt seem particularly safe. I was advised to not use the public carpark at the back of the hotel by the reception staff as it is unsafe with reports of theft. I used it anyway and it was fine. This is no fault of the hotel, of course. The lift going to the bedrooms was very annoying and took way too long!

A welcoming hotel, modern and spacious, clean and tidy. Room 143, twin room - quiet, spacious room, over-sized twin beds, large mirror, large TV, tea tray, toiletries, iron and ironing board, hair dryer. Waste bins, plenty of sockets. Large dining room for breakfast - ample breakfast items (hot and cold selection). Thanks for a fantastic stay.

Room 143 - lack of natural lighting, having only one small window. Room lighting was not always adequate. Twin beds had wooden bases - my friend banged her leg on the corner on a few occasions. We would definitely stay here again though as lived the room and the hotel.

The price of the stay is really great, the location could not be better, since it is around the corner form the Metro! The room was an okay size, could have been a bit bigger but was fine for a few nights!

Their was an issue with a metal panel falling down from under the Air Conditioning unit when we were out, upon returning to the room it was on the floor. I did speak to the front desk about this and the manager came to the room and managed to get the panel back up in the space. I also feel like the breakfast each day was an issue this stay, we were waiting on food items a lot and some of the food items did not taste fully cooked. The bed was okay but could have had more comfortable pillows, as I was having issues with my neck whilst sleeping.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating, the price was reasonable, and our room had all the necessary amenities. The hotel's location was another positive aspect. It was conveniently situated in Jewellery Quarter close to the city centre. This made it easy for us to explore the city and its surrounding areas without much hassle. Additionally, the proximity to public transportation options was a big plus.

While my overall stay was pleasant, there were a few areas that could be improved upon, particularly the breakfast. The daily breakfast offerings became monotonous as they lacked variety. Another downside was the limited vegetable options available during breakfast. Apart from beans in sauce, there were no other vegetables provided.

This hotel is absolutely spotless. The staff are amazing, polite friendly and welcoming. Location is a few stops on the tram from Grand central station approx 5 mins travel located right on the St Paul’s tram stop. We used the hotel as a base to visit Legoland discovery centre and Cadbury world.we had fresh towels and room cleaned every day. Public areas including bathrooms are spotless. Rooms are warm, beds are comfortable. The breakfast was really good for a complementary breakfast, it’s busy and so things run out but you only have to ask and they will be replenished. Duty manager Fay was very helpful and welcoming. It is an excellent spot for touring Birmingham. The best hotel we’ve stayed at in Birmingham. We were family of 14 with 5 rooms for 4 nights and had no complaints.

It would have been helpful to be able to open the window for a bit of fresh air as can be a bit stuffy but really not a problem.

The breakfast is a buffet. The selection is quite varied. Overall, everything is good. For a 3-star hotel in Birmingham, it is worth the price. The hotel is located near the city center.

The rooms are quite dark, even in daylight, due to the small windows. Additionally, the rooms are not equipped with a refrigerator; I had to keep my medication in a communal fridge by the reception desk. The Wi-Fi connection was unreliable, and I had to go to the reception for assistance several times just to connect to the network

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hilton Birmingham for two days, and I must say it was a fantastic experience.
