Mr Hanz and Mr Ilia are both welcoming and accommodated my request for a groundfloor room (even though the hostel does have a lift). Westbahnhof is a short walk away for trains and there is a tram stop even closer by to go direct to Hauptbahnhof. There is a choice of restaurants nearby (but no bakeries in the surrounding streets for a morning coffee - you need to go to Mariahilferstrasse). I would definitely book again.

I thought it would be possible to use the washing machine, but there seemed to be some confusion on that issue when I asked (a note says 'no self-service', but also '4€'...)

This was my second stay in 3 weeks, this time in a single room in a small apartment (shared with another two rooms) that has a WC and a separate bathroom with shower & toilet (spacious, hairdryer, easy shower to get in and out, plus toiletries). The kitchen has everything you need – a table and chairs, fridge and freezer, microwave, cutlery, crockery, even an iron. My single room had its own sink, a TV, fan, working desk, ample cupboards and shelves, and even a private balcony. There was nothing to fault on cleanliness – even from the apartment mates! Overall, a very positive experience that exceeded my expectations! (I was initially concerned about the shared bathroom, but that was no problem since it’s right next to the room.) Easy access by stairs or the (glass) elevator!

The hostel is well located in a quiet alley, almost opposite the Westbahnhof and near to the shopping street Mariahilferstrasse. There is a metro station and many cafes nearby. The inner city is no more than 20 minutes walk away. The room, kitchen, toilet - everywhere was clean. The kitchen has everything for cooking, there is a coffee machine, a kettle, a microwave, a fridge. The table lamp with good light by the bed. Many thanks to the staff for their responsiveness and good relations. The general impression of the hostel is very pleasant.

I would like to have sockets closer to the bed, two towels and a more comfortable pillow and blanket.

I stayed in what felt like a shared apartment, with my single room sharing a bathroom and kitchen with two other rooms. Everything was exceptionally clean and organized. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it perfect for preparing meals, and the bathroom was spotless, complete with complimentary toiletries. The location was fantastic—close to a metro station and a bus stop, providing quick access to the city center and major attractions. The staff was incredibly friendly, spoke fluent English (which was very helpful), and even lent me a hairdryer during my stay. Overall, a comfortable and convenient experience!

Our room had a strange smell, but on our last day, we had the chance to see the other rooms, and they didn’t have any unpleasant odors. I suppose we just had bad luck with our room.

The room and the shared kitchen were well-cleaned when I arrived. Even my room faces the street but the quiet and clean neighbourhood provide a comfortable and relex vibe during my stay. The shared kitchen provides all homeware,microwave and cultry to use. The WC is cleaned by the team but the cleanliness depends on the other shared users throughout the day. The elevator is the most amazing facility I appreciate even I use the spiral staircases the most. Just 5 minutes walk from Westbahnhof Station and there are two supermarkets, a Lidl and a Hofer, just opposite to the station. It is a good city walk from the Westbahnhof Station to the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, around 35 minutes, and you can enjoy the well-preserved building and modern shops on the journey. Highly recommendation to you if you would like to experience more like a local in Vienna in Happy Hostel!

The services of Happy Hostel are all good except they cannot control the way of other users keeping the WC clean.

1st of all I would like to thank the staff. They were by far the loveliest hosts. Always available, very easy-going and friendly. Our check-in, check-out and luggage storages were very smooth. During our check-in we were handed out a map of the city and the transport links to the different attractions, this proved real handy as it was our 1st time in Vienna, we managed to cover almost every attraction because of that. The apartment was also very comfy and relaxing, the kitchen was well equipped, the bed was comfortable to sleep and the bathrooms were great as well.

The toilet ventilation was something we struggled with, maybe that could use some improvement.

The room was very big and clean, with closet space and a table, while the kitchen and bathroom were shared with only another room. The kitchen was fully equipped with a fridge, electric stove, water kettle, coffee machine, and toaster. The bathroom was small and divided between toilet and shower, but it served its purpose. The location was great, the closest train and metro station (Westbanhhof) was 5 minutes away, there were restaurants and supermarkets very close by. The city centre was reachable by metro in 10 minutes, while Schönbrunn was around 25 minutes away by foot.

It would be nice to have a full-length mirror somewhere in the room.

If you're searching for an unique place to stay in, you should definitely give this hostel a try. It's not your typical white-sheets-stay-in experience, which is a big plus for me. I felt at home when I entered my room first. There are a lot of different artworks hanging on the walls, ranging from cross-stitching to paintings, which are done by hand. Furnishing suits the decor, and having access to a kitchen, even if it's shared, is always great. I can't recommend this place enough for people seeking something different for their holiday stay.

I don't have any complaints other than I wish showers were a bit more cleaner.

The room in the hostel was excellent. It had plenty of space, a small kitchenette and dining area allowing us to have a couple of meals in the hostel rather than eating out all the time. The property is close to the Westbahnhof station with easy access to the underground and tram system. We purchased a 48 hour travel card for use on public transport and this was fantastic allowing us to explore lots of Vienna, I would definitely recommend this for other travellers.

Some of the furniture is a bit dated but it was all clean and functionable. This did not deter from the joy of our stay at this property.

1. The room was enough big and had the sofa in addition to the bed. 2. There was a kettle, fridge with freezer, hob and plenty of dishes. 3. I was given some leaflets with useful information. 4. I was notified that all shops would be closed the next day after my arriving due to the National holiday. Thus, l could buy some food for two days. 5. All the staff answered friendly to my questions l had to ask.

1. The only one ring worked on the hob. 2. There were 2 rooms and 3 guests in a section, but only 1 floor towel in the bathroom, that was not hygienic. 3. There was no dish drier, l didn't know where to put washed wet plate.
