A very stylish hotel, they really run with the theme and you'll either love that or not I suppose. We loved it. The staff were really helpful and friendly, making us feel really welcomed. We really liked the bar in the evening, although it is rather pricey (although I guess you're paying for the atmosphere). There's a nice lounge area, which we often met in, in the morning, for a quick (free) coffee before heading out. We didn't have breakfast (again, it's somewhat pricey), but another vegan couple we were visiting with said it was great and we regretted not trying it for at least one morning. Our room was lovely: clean, nicely decorated and cosy, with well-chosen decorations and lighting.

Although the breakfast sounds worth it as a treat, it's rather pricey. An alternative, slightly more affordable option could be nice. Only a couple of very minor complaints on the room: one bed-side shelf didn't have its only plug, which was a bit awkward for charging phones. It was also slightly lacking in storage space, so we had to be a bit inventive on how to organise our clothes for the week. But this wasn't really a big problem at all.

A fantastic small hotel with a super stylish design and a unique, interesting room layout. The location is excellent - right next to a metro station, with plenty of shops and cafés nearby, and within walking distance to the city centre. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, probably the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced in a hotel, making it hard to get up in the morning! The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and a true pleasure to interact with throughout my stay. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would happily return.

I was a bit surprised to find that my room didn’t have a kettle or tea/coffee facilities, which was a little disappointing after a long day. I tried to use the 'honesty bar' downstairs, but it seemed very self-service - the coffee machine was tucked away in a cabinet, and after being out all day, I didn’t really feel like wandering around the hotel trying to figure out how to get a cup of tea.

Excellent breakfast, most comfortable beds, exceptional service, every member of the staff is kind and very efficient, wonderful location. Everything is of very high quality.

The interior of the hotel and rooms is beautiful and very tasteful but the inconvenient design of the bathroom facilities makes using them a tricky experience. The sink is outside the bathroom right in the room as one enters, light above it is dim, mirror is not above the sink but shifted so my husband had a problem shaving. The shower splashes no matter how hard you try not to because there is no curtain or glass door. Sorry to say it, but it is as inconvenient as it is beautiful.

A delightful, quirky hotel in the Mariahilf area of Vienna. The location is ideal for a short walk via a long shopping street into the historic centre of Vienna. It's a very quiet area which was perfect for us and the complimentary bottle of wine in the room was a nice touch as well as some information about the hotel's history. The staff were uniformly excellent and helpful, especially the Croatian lady that served our breakfast. Talking of breakfast - it's worth staying here just for that. You can have as much as you want from the menu but it is all cooked & prepared especially for you rather than served buffet style. Not full up? Just order some more. It is a great way of serving breakfast and others can learn from it.

The only reason I haven't given a 10 is the layout/decor of the room. A sliding door serves both the toilet and the shower but only 1 at a time. I prefer a proper door separating the toilet from the bedroom. The bedroom was long & narrow and made getting in and out of bed slightly tricky and although I quite liked the quirky decor in the bathroom it could prove to be problem for some.

This mother daughter trip was amazing. The staff at Hotel Josefine were exceptional. They seemed genuinely proud of their unique hotel and happy to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Both the room and the hotel decor itself has such a quirky vibe, it feels really special - definitely not a copy and paste type of place. Also it is spotlessly clean everywhere. The ensuite was really unique, with a sliding door on toilet/shower area. It took me a while to realize the door could slide! The sink had a double mirror which is handy as one could be using the sink while the other applied make-up. Initially the area seemed to have a lot of graffiti and I worried I would feel unsafe at night walking home. I felt completely safe, even after dark walking home up to 12MN. I wasn't out later than that. Everywhere we wanted to go was within a half hour walk - national library, museum of natural History, Raimund Theatre, shopping with my daughter - location worked great for us.

I had the best holiday week at this wonderful hotel! From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spotless, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the amenities were top-notch. A special mention goes to Milija, who took care of breakfast every morning with such kindness and professionalism. The selection was fantastic—fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented—but it was Milija’s attentive and friendly service that made each morning truly special. The staff as a whole were incredibly accommodating, always ensuring that guests felt comfortable and well taken care of. The location was perfect, making it easy to explore the surrounding area while still enjoying a peaceful retreat at the hotel. I can’t recommend this place enough! Thank you for making my stay so memorable—I will definitely be returning.

The design is top notch and really sincere… this is not a boring box hotel that they dressed up with some art… every detail is thoughtful, authentic, rich. It’s a sincerely cool and comfortable place! The absolutely sensational breakfast that can be served to the room at no additional charge felt like a true luxury. Even staying in the smallest single room, this place felt like a treat. Returning to a (very average and fine) chain hotel for the next part of my trip was real let-down that underscored just how great it felt to be at Die Josefine.

I liked everything, but people with mobility challenges should note that it’s not fully accessible. There are are several steps up from the ground level to the reception and elevator; from the elevator on the third floor, I had to go down several steps to get to the room. This was all fine for me, but if you have trouble with stairs, this might not be comfortable for you. (I did not ask about accommodations and perhaps they have alternatives to the stairs. The staff is very attentive.)

From the moment we walked through the door, we were pleased. The aesthetic and attention to detail gave us the impression that this place is very special. This proved to be true. Every. Little. Detail. - in the rooms, the presentation of information, the breakfast, etc. The BEST part was the staff for their kindness, professionalism, warmth and friendliness. They were always helpful, engaged and asking us the right questions after our questions. They anticipated our needs and wants, made suggestions. The breakfast offering, setting and quality was superb as well - and delivered by the kind and accommodatting staff! The front desk staff persons who stood out were Anna and Sara. Thank you so very much!

The sliding door between shower and toilet room was clever ! However, being with my husband, we both still prefer a little more privacy and noise barrier : )

The staff is TOP TIER. Attentive, responsive and kind. They gave me a cake dessert for my birthday and a free bottle of wine. The location is amazing. It is off the high street with all the major global retail shops but also the museum quarter (walking distance to Albertina for example) and right off the subway. There is also an amazing bar right in the building. Design / decor is outstanding!

The room I stayed in (Room 408) opened right into the bathroom which was odd architecture. I also could not easily control the heating. Also the lighting was a bit low at night (more for mood lighting than actual illumination).

As my partner said—and I completely agree—this is the best hotel we've ever stayed at. From the moment we were greeted by Julia, we felt so welcomed and genuinely cared for. Everyone at Josefine was incredibly friendly and helpful—huge respect and thank you! The interior is super chic and thoughtfully designed, with attention to every detail. They left us a welcome card in the room, a bottle of wine to enjoy, stylish robes, and even a beautifully designed notebook with info and space to write in, which we got to take home! 🤍 Breakfast is à la carte, which really adds to the whole boutique experience, and it’s totally worth it. Everyone working breakfast was lovely, and the food was top quality. My partner and I LOVED this hotel and won’t be staying anywhere else when we come back to Vienna. No surprise they made it into the Michelin guide!
