Stylish, clean, comfortable and welcoming. Food and wine was exceptional. Breakfast set us up nicely for the day. Evening meal was delicious. Bed was big and comfortable. Shower was fantastic. We were very sorry our stay ended and both agreed we would love to stay there again on our next visit to Brussels.
Nothing about the hotel was unlikeable. The alleyway at the back was used as a toilet late at night. The building works close by meant the street cleaner couldn't quite reach this area so, with the bedroom window open, the smell was bad. This problem will be cured once the works are finished or kept the windows closed and it probably didn't affect other rooms. We were out day and night so really this is nit-picking and not anything to do with the hotel.

The incredibly friendly and hospitable staff were a delight. It’s always nice to feel welcome after a long day of travelling. The location of the hotel was also great and it was very easy to get around the city and Old Town. Also grateful they allowed us to leave our luggage for a few hours after checkout.
The cleanliness was unfortunately somewhat subpar - the rails in the shower don’t seem to have been dusted, as well as odd stains on the wall. Additionally it would be great if the curtains are washed (layer of dust) and the carpet and floor was given a good pressure wash. The door wasn’t entirely soundproof so you could hear people going up and downstairs. Lastly the rooms almost smelled a bit musky, would be great if they get properly aired out.

The hotel has a very nice Art Deco style and a great location. Staff is exceptional. At the time of my stay the hotel was very quiet despite the fact that some reconstructions were taking place near the hotel. Breakfast is very typical and this is nice as it reflects the country. It is delicious. The staff even try to fulfil my demands regarding the food. It is very clean and the room is warm. WI-FI is great, I worked without any problems. The only cautions regarding the facility is the fact that the hotel has only narrow stairs which might not be suitable for all quests in particular for older persons or persons with huge suitcase. But if you would like to have typical Belgium family. run hotel with a lot of charm downtown Brussels, i.e. few minutes walking from la Grande Place, in a very quiet street with no tourists around, this is the right place. It is even easy to imagine the life of Hercule Poirot in the downtown as Art Deco style is carefully perserved. Congratulations to the owners!

Really enjoyed how spacious yet warm the room was, and the double shower was lovely and clean. The location was great too and a very easy walk to the metro stations and attractions.
The area was very noisy, as were the sounds from rooms above. The windows and curtains did a great job at blocking out most of the construction noise from outside but the sounds of other guests outside the room were very noisy. Thankfully this stopped within sleeping hours but it is something to be aware of.

The staff was great and very welcoming. We arrived kind of late but were still able to get drinks and food at the downstairs bar. Our room was very comfortable but I imagine it could get very warm in the summer.
The hotel was great but our map app told us to exit the train at the Brussels Nord station to get there. The walk from there goes through a pretty rough area. When we left, we walked to the Brussels Central station and that felt safer. Both stations are about a 15 minute walk from the hotel so we just recommend using the Brussels Central station.

Great location very close to the "real center", everything in walking distance. Spacious rooms, comfy beds, good bathroms. I did not try the breakfast, as this (not only here, but in all hotels) this is too big and therefore too expensive for me.
No elevator, and you have to climb up 1-3 floors in a narrow staircase. No problem for me, but for others it could be. Next to the hotel some construction work had started, which started at 7.30h/8.00h in the morning, but this is not the hotel's responsibility. Also the noise insulation is relatively good.

Hotel Esperance is what you would call a boutique hotel - very small and interesting. Great location close to Gare Du Nord and just off the main shopping street. Although it dates back to the 1800s it was renovated in the 1920s and the downstairs area is probably the most original art deco cafe in Brussels; in fact while sitting there we saw several tour groups being shown the features. The staff are super helpful and if you are lucky will show you the one bedroom that is still in a fabulous art deco style. If you are looking for something different then this could be for you. Breakfast was very good. Being very small there is no lift.
Nothing - was just as described.

Unique room with a tub in the middle of the room! Huge room with big windows, luckily came with a fan as it got pretty hot. Staff seemed nice and friendly.
It's a restaurant that has a few rooms, not exactly a hotel. Which is fair enough, but something to be aware of. Would like a door to the toilet, not just a curtain. But this is definitely a room for someone who knows each other very well!

Unique art deco room, good value for money as we get superior room that had a huge bed and a large bathroom. Bed was clean and had large opening windows, comfortable chairs and a ottoman that could extend into a second bed (didn't use this bed). Stylish small bar at the bottom of hotel with friendly service and nice drinks. Location is good as close to large shopping street with a large selection of shopping brands. Fairly close to old town and walk there is pleasant.
No lift did make 4 floors a little tedious to walk up with bags; however it was made very clear that installing a lift wasn't possible due to the historic nature of the building. I'm sure they would've helped carry the bags if needed! Food was quite expensive so didn't try any.

Located at the heart of the commercial area of Brussels. Being an old Art Deco Hotel protected by the City, it has no lift. The room was very clean, with a big bed, sitting space, big shower room/WC. The Tavern/restaurant of the hotel has a very bohemian vibe, with nice furniture, excellent service and good food.
