Great breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms. I was there for 3 weeks, and even if the breakfast buffet was mostly the same stuff, there were also variations. And there were so many choices to start with, and the food so fresh and tasty, I (and my companions) always absolutely loved the breakfast. The location is wonderful, lots of wonderful restaurants next door or within short walking distance. The bus stop is next door, so going downtown is super easy, and the old town is wonderful. Hop on of bus next door too, and it was fun. I love the hotel and I love Madeira. If I ever manage to go to Madeira again, I'll go to again to hotel Allegro. It's also great to be on this adult only, no screaming kids, and no screaming parties either. They use allergy free washing detergent for bedsheets, which is so great, as one of us has allergy to most washing powders. It just shows how attentive they are to details.

The swimming pool was very cold, but it was also November. So, I didn't use it at all, but I was sunbathing every day by the swimming pool, there was good shelter there, and absolutely lovely. The beach is cliffs, but that was my ignorance, Madeira is not about sand beaches.

The hotel as a whole was excellent, providing some fantastic facilities that were all very well kept and presented. The room itself was a good size, was clean upon arrival and with the cleaner coming in every day of the stay, meant the room stayed clean and new towels were always on hand. The spa area was great, made by booking (no extra cost) meant that it was a private experience, and the gym, whilst not massive in size, had enough equipment to have a good experience. We only had breakfast at the hotel, but this too was very good, there was a large array of different foods on offer; hot, cold, pastries, fruit, cereal, yoghurts, and cooked on request for things like pancakes, eggs etc. The service, not just for breakfast but throughout the whole stay, was amazing, with all the staff being friendly and attentive. The roof bar is also a fantastic addition, something that was seemingly very unique in the area, especially at this level (11th floor), and had a great choice of drinks available. The location was on the west side of Funchal, many shops, bars and restaurants surrounded the area. It is about a 30 minute (at a fair pace) walk to the main main area of Funchal, but there is plenty to do in the immediate vicinity.

There is not many negatives to say about the hotel, a personal one for us is for breakfast to stay on till slightly later (currently finishes at 10am), but that is only as we enjoy a lay-in whilst on holiday! Other than this, we were extremely happy during our 10 day stay, and would 100% return to this hotel.

The staff at the hotel were exceptional. When we arrived, as it was Easter, there was a small box of Easter eggs waiting for us. It was also my husbands birthday the next day and when we returned from a day trip there was a slice of birthday cake waiting in our room. We had a sea view room and it was perfect, there were no faults that could be found. I'm also a very fussy breakfast eater and the breakfast at the hotel was very well laid out with plenty of very good options. There was also a sauna and Turkish bath included and was available for private bookings each day. We also rented a car and each day a space was available at a reasonable price of €8 a day. This hotel was also very close to restaurants next to the ocean and would highly recommend "il basilico", it was so good we went twice. The hop on hop off bus also stopped outside.There is also a rooftop bar which has a brilliant bartender who was extremely passionate about his job and created some of the cocktails on the menu, the maderia flip was an outstanding cocktail and a must try. This hotel was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at and was very sad when we had to check out.

There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel.

We had a wonderful holiday at the Allegro Hotel. The staff is dedicated, helped us in every way. Near the hotel there is a public transport stop, several tourist offices that offer various tours of the island with relevant explanations from a tour guide. There are a variety of reasonably priced lunch or dinner options down the street south of our hotel, as well as a large supermarket down the promenade. The hotel has a rooftop bar with great views and live music. We mainly did excursions around the island of Madeira and neighboring Porto Santo for the tranquility and exotic flora and fauna. We went on boat and catamaran rides. We had almost no time left to lie on the beach. Congratulations to the staff of the Allegro Hotel.

We were on the same island about 20 years ago. Since then, rental cars have increased the traffic density around Funchal and throughout the island several times. Parking (in general and everywhere) is already problematic. But this is not a problem of the hotel, which offered us excellent conditions. I recommend that newly arrived tourists call the tourist offices for excursions instead of rental cars.

A wonderful stay. Location wise the hotel was perfect for us, lovely restaurants, views and the lido all within a short walking distance. The hotel really went above and beyond to help with everything and anything we could possibly need. Staff here are lovely and so helpful. Rooms are spotless and the pool was lovely with plenty of sun loungers available. Late night entertainment at the rooftop bar was also amazing. If returning to Madeira I would absolutely choose to stay here again/will be recommending to all family and friends visiting also.

Excellent breakfast with wide selection, spacious room. Location is far from city center but close to the sea and offers nice walks. Electric cars can be charged, however setting that up requires cooperation from the staff. Parking place is narrow but once you get your spot at check-in, that will be reserved through your stay (but not the same spot). Excellent roof-top bar with spectacular view to the sea and to the mountains, offering great cocktails.

We had trouble setting up the car charging and the person at the reception was not helpful at all. We wanted to have a room with a sea view (and booked a room with that), but the hotel is built in a way that the building itself blocks the majority of the view which was very annoying. At one occasion we had to wait for a table at breakfast, it can be made better by organizing the guests or telling them which time period(s) are less busy.

The location was perfect for our needs. There's a great spot just downhill to enjoy beautiful views and have a walk. Sightseeing bus stop near by. Several shops and restaurants in the area too. The hotel itself has all one may need, a pool, rooftop bar, great staff etc etc. The room was comfortable and the breakfast nice as well. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Having booked a room with sea view I was somewhat expecting to see sea from our room (as advertised in pictures). While we technically were able to see sea from the corner of our balcony, it was a bit of a let down. Also, there are two construction sites near the hotel, luckily we were staying on Sunday when they were not working.

The hotel was very good, although there were some things we didn’t really like, the breakfast was a bit of an disappointment we saw in the reviews that breakfast was very good but we were a little disappointed. What we also didnt like were the elevators most of the time we had to wait a long time before they came… we really liked the rooftop bar and having Andre as our bartender he makes the best cocktails we’ve ever had! . Besides all that we really enjoyed our stay at allegro!

All facilities were excellent, room cleaned and tidied everyday, plenty of stuff in the room with amazing view. Really helpful staff at front desk, really welcoming. Facilities and gym all up to scratch, couldn’t ask for anymore. Amazing value for money.

First of all, the hotel is great! The staff are very friendly and does everything in their might to help us. The view from our room was amazing! We had a view over the ocean and the town of Funchal, so we could relax on the balcony with a great view. We had breakfast and dinner included with our room and the food is delicious! The options vary every day, which is really nice! I could keep going with what is nice about this hotel. The staff is very engaging and did a lot of things to make our stay extra special. THANK YOU! This has been the best hotel experience I've ever had!
