Hotel Resol is directly opposite Ueno train station and is so convenient as I was using trains everyday to move around Tokyo. Ueno park is only a 10 min walk across the green overpass coming out close to the museums. The room was a good size for Tokyo standards, very clean and has everything you need for a short Tokyo stay. The bed and pillow were comfortable and the room very clean. I don't mind not having the room cleaned everyday, I don't live like a pig so keeping it clean is easy and I welcomed the fact that no one was entering the room while I was away. You leave your rubbish and used towels outside the room for pickup that day and collect fresh towels and rubbish bag from reception as required, a great system! Staff were friendly and helpful with any questions I had. I felt this stay was value for money for me, a great location from which to explore Tokyo.

Nothing to improve

Excellent location right in the heart of Ueno and the station which has great acess to most of the JR lines. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable - had a window facing the street, so there was lots of natural light. Close to bars and restaurants and shopping. Excellent shower pressure! They dont do room cleans for stays under 5nights but this was not an issue - they take garbage and provide new towels and water daily. Staff were really friendly and happy to store our luggage for the day before we flew out.

Yes (I know) Japanese rooms can be very small, so this wasn't a surprise. It was just difficult with two adults with two big suitcases - in saying that, we were only in the room at night so didn't need the space to relax. My only comment is that they need to remove some of the furniture - there was a chair and stool next to the bed, which took up a lot of space. If it wasn't there, it would have been more comfortable.

The hotel 'ticks all the boxes' of what I needed for a short stay: - Clean and tidy - Quiet and peaceful - Very comfortable bed and bedding - Excellent wifi - Close access to public transport - Helpful and attentive staff - Stylish and modern design and overall peaceful atmosphere

The room is very small and although I was happy by myself, I would opt for a larger room if I was travelling with a companion (this is typical in Tokyo, however).

The hotel is very close to the station. Crazy near! That's maybe a 1-minute walk, and you would be there. The staff were really friendly and it was easy to communicate with; I really appreciated that. Our flight was in the evening, and our check-out is at 11 AM. We asked the receptionist if it would be okay to leave our luggage there for a few hours, and get it later in the evening. That was possible and even free. So we could enjoy our very last day in Japan. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a good location and good beds.

The room was kinda small for me. The bathroom was big enough, but the room could be bigger.

It was a very convenient walk to the Ueno train station, which we appreciated especially with large luggage to roll around. The amenities provided by the hotel were excellent, and we managed to get additional pillows because the room only had 1 per person. We had a very comfortable stay overall.

We went in knowing that rooms in Tokyo tend to be smaller because space is limited. Even with the bigger room we opted for, there wasn't enough space for us to have our luggage constantly open. I do wish the rooms were slightly bigger but understand the constrains too. Just do bear the limitation of space in mind when booking!

Part of a chain of hotels, the very modern Resol Ueno is perfectly located a 2 minute walk from Ueno station (where the Skyliner Express from Narita Airport terminates) and so makes for a great place to land for your first night(s) in Japan. Ask Tourist Information at the station for help navigating your way out. As with all Tokyo hotels, the room was very small, but it was super clean and had all I needed - though I think I would have felt claustrophobic if I had been sharing with another person. Don’t expect cupboard space, again as per usual. Do expect pyjamas and full size shampoo and body wash bottles. Other amenities, including chargers, kettles and irons, are available from the reception area downstairs. There’s absolutely no need to order the breakfast options as there are so many great places to eat at in and around the station including a European style bakery. I appreciated the small lounge area which had both adequately comfortable seating and a breakfast bar type arrangement with charging points. The staff were super friendly and helpful - especially when I fell ill on day 4 - and at least one person on reception at any time spoke reasonsable English.

The 3 pm or later check in time is extremely strict - there is no option for an earlier check-in even if the rooms are already made up. Not great when you’ve arrived early morning after a long flight.

When I checked in the hotel, there was an issue with the reception desktop that couldn't connect to the internet. Hence, the receptionist couldn't check me into the system. Good thing that they know which room I am in, so one of the staff, Miss Liu, who spoke Chinese quickly helped me open my room door, and gave me a late check out as compensation. They sent me my room key before midnight. I was very happy with their solution. The bed is comfy, even though the room is not big, but I got everything I needed. The location is really good for me to take the Skyliner the next day!

The only thing I wasn't happy about was probably that I couldn't check in when I first arrived and dropped my luggage in the morning. I knew that I couldn't check in the room before 3 pm, but if I could check into the system, I didn't have to wait when I went back to the hotel at night.

Stayed in Hotel Resol Ueno for 5 nights with my wife and we had a great stay. Ueno is a great base for exploring Tokyo, and the Hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Ueno Station. We came in from Narita Airport using the Keisei Skyliner and it was about 10 minutes walk to the hotel. We spent most of our time exploring Tokyo, so coming back to soak in the bathtub to end the day was a godsend. Great hotel especially for couples!

Location is very convenient: next to major train and subway stations, plenty of restaurants nearby within a few minutes walking, next to major shopping areas, next to Ueno park, a great park etc. While the room was small, it’s exceptionally clean and quiet. The heat and cool system works effectively and quietly. The water pressure is very strong; hot water is plentiful. The bathroom is very warm. The Japanese style toilet with bidet works great. Free coffee (drip filter packets) and other amenities are plenty. Compared to two other hotels nearby (one much higher priced and one lower priced) that we had stayed, we definitely would come back first to Hotel Resol Ueno.

The downsides: the room is serviced and cleaned only on every 5th day (other days guests put used towels and garbage outside; hotel gives new water bottles and fresh towels); the window opens to a side of the neighbor building so there’s no view but an escape stairs of the building next door (I didn’t open the window but I believe it can be opened so there’s a possibility of a rescue if a fire traps the inside stairs); there is a faint smell of bad odor in the bathroom (it’s definitely not a refreshing smell!); there’re only two pillows for two persons (I need two for me myself; it’s how I sleep); the blanket is not long enough, it reaches to my chest at most.

Location convenient for public transport & walking distance to park. Building new and clean. First room on 8th floor had nice wall art, decorative details. Breakfast was simple yet enough.

Ck’d in second time on 5th floor with same room layout minus the decorative details. Room was paired down to plain. Toilet had foul smell after every flush. This happened in both separate rooms. Odd plumbing. Make staff at ck out wasn’t hospitable and failed to thank me for choosing to stay there despite my staying 7 nights.
