Lovely staff who were outstandingly professional, helpful, hard-working and friendly. A great team! Sparkling clean and very well maintained accommodation. Brilliant mini bus transfers to and from Chania.

Only two things caused us any problems, which hopefully can be resolved. We stayed in a junior suite (103). Firstly, the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor unless you kept hold of the shower head yourself at all times. The problem was caused by there being no seals on the bottom of the doors, together with the holder for the shower head being in a vertical position and only permitting it to point straight at you. Secondly, the sheets sometimes didn't fit the bed properly and caused a poor night's sleep as they rumpled up really badly. Such a shame as the beds were really comfortable otherwise. Fitted sheets, or sheets that were big enough to be tucked well in, would be a great improvement to an otherwise absolutely excellent hotel

Nice and quiet where the hotel is. They offer a free taxi service to take you into town and back. Would recommend getting the breakfast included as there’s no where to eat near the hotel. Hotels food and drinks are very good. Staff are super friendly they bought out more deckchairs for us when it got busy by the pool. They also can arrange taxis for you to and from the airport for €26, if you’re coming here I wouldnt rent a car, its very hilly and you dont need one! But for the most part it’s very quiet, clean and looks just as good as the pictures.

Could be a little cleaner by the poolside but I have nothing to complain about!

From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff made us feel truly welcome — friendly, helpful, and just cool. Thanks a million everybody !!! We had a room with a sea view, and it was absolutely worth it. The breakfast spread was generous and delicious, with plenty of choices for every taste. The free shuttle service to and from town — reliable, convenient, and a great way to explore without hassle. Our room had clearly been recently renovated and was finished to a high standard: modern, spacious, and super comfortable. Brilliant big pool, perfect for a long, relaxing swim or a lazy afternoon by the water. We spent most mornings and afternoons by the pool and then went to Chania in the evening.

A perfect stay.

Excellent stay, breakfast and view from the room and restaurant. The pool is clean & the food is good. The best part is the free shuttle to the city centre which takes 6-8 minutes, make sure to book it in advance especially during peak season. The staff at the hotel is service minded. The room was clean and it was facing the pool and city view.

Such a lovely quiet hotel with a spectacular view over chania. It really feels like a retreat above the city even though it’s so close and the hotel have a handy shuttle bus that brings and collects all day. We had a suite onto the tranquil pool and garden which was just gorgeous. They are so well kept and maintained and everywhere is spotless . The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more friendly, nothing was too much to ask. The food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was excellent and probably one of the best sunset views in chania! We all absolutely loved this hotel and look forward to coming back.

We liked everything. Few highlights (there are a lot in fact 😃): 1. The view is just amazing 2. The people - so welcoming ☀️ Thank you 3. The food in the restaurant - this is a must. The culinary experience is just fabulous 4. The pool - lots of sun beds, warm water, great view 5. The balcony on the room (sea view) - lovely 6. Overall attention to detail - we truly appreciate how you take care of the guests 7. The transfer/navette to Chania city center - such a benefit We felt spoiled and relaxed 🤴 ☀️

We loved everything, but just for the sake of being objective: the rooms are not huge, which was not a problem for us, cause it was super comfortable, but maybe it matters to other people.

The frontline staff, Maria, Faaia and Nicholas were always available to help with any queries, organising taxis and were kind and helpful. The hotel provided a free shuttle bus to town, which made the location perfect. Views from the hotel looking down on the town and the port were breathtaking. We often took the walk down to the town and the shuttle uphill to the hotel. It was a good mix. We were warmly greeted each day by the cleaning staff, who were efficient and thorough. There is a laundry for washing and drying clothing, and we especially enjoyed the use of the leisure room where we could read and enjoy a game of cards. The offering for breakfast was varied and delicious. The dining room is perfectly situated to take in the incredible views. On our last evening, we booked for dinner in the dining room just before sundown. We had a scrumptious meal, a great bottle of wine and bade farewell to Chania. We highly recommend Royal Sun hotel, we believe it will not disappoint.

We had an amazing stay at Royal Sun, the room was very comfortable and with a beatiful view, the staff was really kind and nice, always helping and guiding us before and during our stay in Crete. Also, the breakfast was excellent, we could try a lot of things typical of Crete's kitchen and were delicious, and we can say the same about the restaurant, the waiters and waitress very professional and kind. They offer you a shuttle bus to the old town and the car rental service that they offer works really good too. We had a wonderful experience in Crete and we are so geatful for the treatment that all the staff gave us

We couldn't have been happier with our choice of a hotel! It's located a few kilometers outside of the center and the old town but this was only a positive thing for us - lying by the pool (a big and clean pool for that matter) it was actually calm and quiet with only some birdsong to be heard. The hotel also provided a free shuttle every half an hour to the center and back so the distance was not an issue whatsoever. The staff was a m a z i n g, I can't compliment them enough. It must've been the warmest welcome I've received at any hotel, in any country, and they kept being so genuinely kind and helpful for our whole stay. The restaurant upstairs offers you the best sunset view in town and we actually ended up having dinner there almost every night since the food was also great there. The breakfast buffet was so great as well, with a big variety of food and omelets made to order. If (and hopefully, when) I return to Chania, I will definitely stay at Royal Sun again.

If you're a light sleeper like me, BRING EARPLUGS WITH YOU. The only thing that slightly bothered me here was that the walls and the doors seemed to have been made out of cardboard (at least on the second floor where I stayed). I could hear absolutely everything; someone living down the hall - not even next door - put on some music from his phone and started to sing around midnight and they could've just as well been by my bedside. With earplugs I didn't mind the snoring, singing and/or frisky neighbors though and I would still go back in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the Royal Sun for a week in July to celebrate my partner's birthday. We had family staying at the hotel too and it was just perfect. Its views overlooking the bay and the old harbour were magnificent. The pool was huge and very well maintained, with bar service providing food and cocktails when required. The rooms were a little dated but well appointed, with a large private terrasse to watch those magical sunsets, bliss! What makes the hotel so special is the team and the care management takes in making each stay a memorable one. The front office team (Maria, Nikolas and especially Nota) were always on hand to greet us with a smile, help us plan our days, book the free shuttle service linking the hotel to the city centre (so no one had to drive down and could enjoy a drink or two without having to worry who will drive back). Emil, the main driver, was very nice and helpful too. The restaurant, located on its top floor with breathtaking views of the bay, was just amazing. We had breakfast included and again the team there was just fab, especially the hostess who was always on hand and super smiley. We also had dinner on three occasions at the restaurant, different ambiance at night, with dimmed lights etc. and a great menu with fantastic desserts. Upon departure we received a great farewell from the team and even little gifts from the hotel management (honey ointment produced locally). We couldn't fault it, we highly recommend this hotel and hope to come back one day - efcharisto!
