The location of the hotel was perfect. A short walk from the main centre and parking nearby isn’t a problem. Overnight you can park by RingGo on the road outside if there’s space rather than leaving it in a nearby carpark. It’s not a pretty hotel from the outside but looks can be deceiving. Inside the welcome from the staff was warm. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Very smiley and attentive. The family room we booked was very comfortable. Anyone who has concerns about two kids sleeping on a sofa bed needn’t worry. It was super comfy and there was plenty of room for my 12 and 10yr olds. Comfy beds, great bathroom toiletries and fluffy towels. The hotel was decorated ready for Halloween which we loved, and it seemed to be a good place for families to stay with toys, books and games available. Breakfast was a little manic but the staff were great and did their best to refill everything. Food was pretty good too.

Our room was situated overlooking the dirty linen bins outside and some extractor fans. There was a sign saying the fans switch off at midnight, which they did, but they made a heck of a noise before that point! Luckily we had earplugs with us, otherwise we would have had to move because it was pretty noisy. Tinned mushrooms to be replaced with fresh, but this is a minor irk!

Booked at the last minute this hotel was perfect. Friendly staff when I arrived to leave my luggage which was no problem. Room was a good size, spotless with all facilities. A very comfortable bed. Just outside the centre which was perfect as a but quieter. An easy 10 minute walk into the centre. Access to the wall walk only a couple of minutes from the hotel. Helpful staff.

My room on the first floor had a bit of traffic noise during the day but was quiet at night. Suggest asking for a room on a higher floor. The staff offered to move me but I couldn’t be bothered & it didn’t really matter for one night!

The hotel is well located close to the historic centre of the city. The hotel is clean and well kept and the staff at reception and the breakfast room were efficient and welcoming. The bedroom was clean and functional.

There was only one lift which was busy at times and would have been problematic if it was out of order. The twin beds were close together with only s a small bedside shelf rather that a cabinet with would have been more helpful. The shower room was generally well appointed but but only two small hooks close together was hard to accommodate all the towels. A couple more hooks please!

Mobility adapted room as requested, amazing breakfast (pancake machine!), very friendly and accomodating staff, good temperature controls in room, good firm bed, great location (opposite a good wethers), handy luggage storage facility

Fairly minor for us but could be a problem for others; the wall and door to the adjoining room were paper thin, we could hear clearly everyones conversation and footstep the guests were having and they kept trying our adjoining door (maybe a sign on it explaining its not a cupboard could help?). Luckily the guests weren't loud through the night though. The (cool wooden) key cards stopped working twice as well, but we're immediately sorted

Great location? central for everything. Nice hotel, great staff. We had a problem with the bed being lumpy but the housekeeping manager got it sorted out right away and we got a new mattress. He was excellent to deal with. Breakfast was a little chaotic some days but good enough breakfast and the staff were lovely. We loved York and will definitely be using this hotel again.

Nothing to add here really. Maybe more choice of beverages at the bar. A bit pricey as well for to have z drink.

Great value for money. We had been staying in a more expensive hotel for the weekend and decided to stay in York for an extra night on a whim, so selected the Holiday Inn based on price. Turns out it was actually nicer than the more expensive hotel! Large, clean room with an extra-large bed.

The manager pressured me to leave a positive review on check-out, asking me to get out my phone so that I could do it there and then. My partner had actually already walked outside with my phone so I couldn't, but I didn't like how pushy he was. We had a great stay and would have left a good review without this unnecessary pressure.

Great location, clean, had everything that was needed

Nothing everytging was great We had a great stay, the room and hotel was lovely, great value for money and generally clean. Only issue we really had was we left our cases to go look around York on the day we were leaving. When we went back to pick up our cases and handed in the tickets we where given the wrong case, this was a little concerning as you don’t want then someone else leaving with your case. It was quickly sorted when we pointed out where the cases had been previously taken to by another member of staff.

We booked at very short notice, late at night after a storm which had caused widespread travel disruption and had prevented our onward train travel. The hotel was a safe 20 minute walk from the station. The room was ready on our arrival, including the sofa bed being made up as requested. The room and beds were very clean and comfortable. The staff were courteous and helpful.

The price was very high for what is a fairly standard room but all hotels in York increase their prices on a Saturday night and the price here was slightly better than others that we could find at short notice. There was some traffic noise, even from the fourth floor. Buffet breakfast was expensive so we ate elsewhere.

Its location was great. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly from reception to the restaurant to the housekeeping. Everything was absolutely marvellous. We had a lovely time. Excellent10 out of 10 Rochelle and the rest of the staff at reception were really so kind, so thoughtful and helpful. We couldn’t six we we. We couldn’t want for anymore. Many thanks to Holiday Inn for having such a very very good team at York city centre hotel

It would’ve been nice to have a couple of more hooks to hang things in the bathroom, especially the towels and also the wardrobe could’ve been bigger to be able to fit more in, but they are only little things compared to the rest of the hotel which was great

This hotel was brilliant. The rooms are very spacious and very clean! The bed was very comfortable. We stayed with our two young children, the sofa bed was set up already for our stay which was a nice touch. We had the breakfast in the morning also which was lovely. The food was very nice, restaurant area very clean, and lots of options. The kids loved the breakfast. Staff were also very approachable and welcoming. I would stay at this hotel again, thank you for a great stay.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the hotel, everything was amazing!
