The unobstructed view from our balcony out across the southwestern end of Lake Maggiore was beautiful. We also enjoyed the breakfast of fresh pastries and other European fare. Natalino, who co-owns this historic family villa with his brother, was such an interesting person who seemed to take delight in sharing with me (in English) the history of the Villa pre–WW I, the tragic role it played in WW ll, and how his family eventually became the owners of it. Our conversation was a highlight, along with the stunning lake view, of our visit here.

This is not something I didn't like, but I think visitors to this hotel need to be aware that the initial place to park for check-in is across the main highway that follows the coastline at the southern end of the lake. Since the road is well-traveled and crooked, great care must be taken when crossing this highway to access the hotel which sits, after a number of steps, above the road.

Excellent location with the closest view of the Borramear islands right outside our room. The breakfast is outstanding. The staff is great. This is an historic hotel so the rooms are a bit dated but that is part of the charm, high ceilings, period artwork throughout and a beautiful garden outside. Parking is across the street, crossing it to get there can be harrowing because of the speeding cars and no sidewalks, be patient, the traffic goes in spurts. You need to drive into town since there are no sidewalks.

Crossing the street is a challenge.

It's an unbelievably beautiful place. View from your balcony is looking like some of a fantastic fairy tale. Rooms are cosy and clean. Also, you can take a rest at two big terraces. Parking place for your car is joined with the rest zone and private beach. You can also start your trip to the Borromeo islands directly from mini harbour for 25 euros for 1 person. It's a clever variant and saves your time. Many thanks to Julio for his help! I am honestly recommend Villa Ruscello for romantic moments!

The hotel was in an excellent location for travelers with a car, and the balcony offered fantastic views. The building and courtyard had a rustic, idyllic charm that added a pleasant atmosphere to the stay. The room was fairly basic, but clean and functional. The breakfast included in the price was a positive – perfectly adequate and a nice way to start the day. The staff were appropriately friendly and helpful. All in all, a pleasant experience – we would happily stay here again.

What an absolutely beautiful and charming place! This sort of hospitality, that was shown by all the staff, is very rare and it made our stay even more special. Everyone was so friendly and helpful the entire time of our stay. The gorgeous house, the rooms, the architecture, all the artwork, the lakefront, the location, the views, the sunrises, the gardens, all the sitting areas outside, everything was so beautiful and inviting! We wish we could've stayed a lot longer, and if we ever come back to this beautiful lake, this is definitely the place we will stay!

The hotel was amazing! The location is great, the hotel is clean and the staff is amazing and really welcoming. The view of our room, the area for swimming and free parking are great bonuses. Giulio and Natalino were really helpful and patient. We were in a big loud family group and they were really kind and patient with giving us directions and general information. We would definitely stay there again. Grazie mille! Muito obrigado pela estadia.

We loved everything

The owner was fantastic and extremely helpful and the breakfast is wonderful in a lovely breakfast room. They speak fluent French, German, English and Italian. A great and economical stopover on the way further south for families.

Walking into town is a little precarious with the Main road as the only option for pedestrians, so it probably better to take the car to go to dinner. There is a good parking near the boat landing to the islands in Stresa, which allows you to walk along the lake promenade without having to walk along the main road.

Amazing view over the lake and the island. The breakfast was delicious typical Italian with croissants and coffee, but also eggs and other options available. Free parking available and 15min walking to Baveno city (no sidewalk so is not the most pedestrian friendly). Is a small villa and the garden and outdoor area is relaxing, would definitely recommend is you want a chill vacantion.

The hotel is charming, and the staff were extremely helpful. The grounds are beautiful with lots of outdoor space. The private parking is just across the street (watch for cars). The breakfast was extensive. We loved the small balcony. Lots of storage space for a smallish room.

We had only one pillow each, and the bed was a bit firm. Be aware that there are stairs, and there are no restaurants within walking distance.

The property is in a perfect location between Stresa and Baveno with its own secure parking. The view from Hotel Villa Ruscello is amazing looking from height directly onto Lago Maggorie across to the islands.

The ambience during breakfast could have been improved by not playing local radio but with some cafe style music of Italian origin. The local radio is of no interest to the many international guests, who after all are paying for an enjoyable experience, not to be audibly assaulted first thing in the morning.
