Breakfast & staff were brilliant & very attentive especially Massimo who goes above & beyond to make your stay comfortable. Grand canal view rooms give you good views. Hotel in perfect location for bus station (4 mins walk) & train station (opposite hotel) Water bus stops & ticket office opposite hotel - very convenient. Get a travel card as you will benefit from using water bus daily for travelling to Venice locations

Rooms were small & pillows were uncomfortable despite request extra pillows. No kettle or beverage options in room Limited hot breakfast options - need more vegetarian options for vegetarian bacon or sausages

First off - the staff were superb. This hotel is expertly managed and the place runs like clockwork. They're courteous and extremely knowledgeable about the city and almost trip over themselves in their attempts to be helpful. The rooms are spacious. The water pressure in the taps is high. The breakfast is adequate (though not excellent). And the location is fantastic (just across the canal from the train station and one of the main water-taxi hop-on points).

The hotel itself is in desperate need of renovation. The furniture is dated both in the common areas as well as the rooms. The mattresses are a little too soft and can lead to back pain. The air conditioning system didn't work in our room, which is a shame. The windows, especially the ones facing the canal, need to be double-glazed because there's a lot of noise at night (even though the views are gorgeous).

Hotel Carlton to my surprise is directly across from the train station, with the Gand Canal separating the two. Making the Hotel "an excellent location". The room was exactly what we booked (view of the canal) with opening shutters. The staff was very accommodating upon our arrival, during our stay and at check-out. Breakfast was nicely displayed with a variety of choices i.e. eggs, cereal, hot cereal. Highly recommend this hotel.

Getting to the hotel was a bit of chore if you have heavy or many bags of luggage. One has to traverse over a bridge which consists of many steps going up and many steps going down. Although there are workers (wearing orange vests) with carts that are able to load your luggage on to a cart and take them over the bridge, there is a price to pay. If you packed light and able to carry your bags over and down...great! If not be prepared to pay.

Convenient location, in front of railway station. Room of reasonable size for Venice. Reception staff friendly and supportive

Breakfast staff was extremely rude and aggressive and, despite paying the full breakfast price they did not allow me having 3 coffees (3 small cups as only machine brewed was available) while smoking outdoor.

The hotel was on the Grand Canal. We were traveling with seven people and had two rooms that were for a family. These rooms do not have views of the Grand Canal. I thought that was important, but soon learned it was not once we arrived. The hotel was very pretty, check in was quick. We were able to eat in the cafe for lunch and took advantage of the rooftop dining for dinner. The food was delicious and fresh in both. The staff was extremly helpful and kind.

We arranged for a ride from the cruise port to the hotel. I wish I would of had better communication about how this worked. The ride can't take you to the front door of the hotel. We paid a hefty amount to have our luggage taken by boat with one member of our party to the hotel while the rest of us walked. I wish I would of known to walk around the corner and gotten a taxi for all of us and our luggage for the same or less of a price. The walk was manageable but we had some eldery members in our party. As a first time visitor, I just wish I had known to reach out to the hotel and make more reasonable accomadations for our transport from the drop off point to the hotel.

This hotel is separated from the main train station by the grand canal! It is a walking distance from there if you arrive at Venice St Lucia train station. The hotel is also a walking distance to all attraction points, on the way to any of them there are many restaurants, shops, events areas and it is a great pleasure to explore the different parts of the city. The room is quite spacious, very clean and good enough to accomodate two persons with great comfort. The breakfast was good, with varieties and options that may meet different tastes and dietary requirements.

Shower area is quite tight and the bathtub makes it more challenging! the breakfast area is quite congested may be due to high occupancy at the time we stayed in the hotel. Service staff during breakfast were not very friendly!

Great location just across the Grand Canal from St.Lucia train station; wonderfully decorated room in "old Venice" style; very nice breakfast; lovely staff. We booked two different rooms, one for 2 nights and then another for 3rd night, and all we needed to do was to pack our things in first room and go enjoy Venice - when we got back, our luggage was moved to the new room by the hotel staff. Thank you for this :)

I would have liked a bit more wardrobe/storage space in the room, and also thicker blankets. But this is minor complaint :)

The hotel has an excellent location on the Grand Canal. It is opposite the train station which was perfect for us. The water taxis and ticket office was a 5 minute walk across the bridge. The Room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was fantastic! The lady in the restaurant/ breakfast was extremely helpful, friendly and polite- she wore spectacles- I didn't get her name- excellent service from her.

The hairdryer is too small. It kept over heating and switching off- that was very frustrating. I would highly recommend the hotel attend to this. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the two ladies at reception. There was only one male assistant at reception who was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly when we approached him about a taxi to the airport.

The free upgrade to a Jnr Suite and Grand Canal balcony/view was a fantastic surprise. The room was very big, and very authentically Venetian. Ideally located directly across the Canal from the main train station and 5 mins from the main bus station it was perfect. Waking in the morning and looking out at the Canal watching the locals just going about their daily business and commute up and down the canal i really enjoyed watching. Fantastic City, my second visit, and not my last.

The only comment I would and could make was that the Hotel Bar did not sell wine!! We went down to the Reception and Bar and asked if we could get a drink, only to be told that they had no wine?!!! In Italy.......in Venice......... Bizarre!
