Magnificent breakfast. We felt very welcome and the boutique feeling is so much nicer than the huge crowded hotels. The porter (sorry, forgot his name) was really good with the kids and friendly overall which made the arrival very positive. Small great touches here and there that make it such a good experience to stay at the George. I would travel to Christchurch just for staying at the George.

Even though I am unsure if the hotel can do anything about it, I must say there was quite a lot of noise through the night in the hallway. I could hear what was being said as people passed by so the doors do not seem to be very well sound proof. There also seemed to be a large group of people gathered on the floor above us at around 23.00 - that floor did not have rooms so unsure what it was used for. So altogether I was woken up several times during the night. But all in all - I am still rating the hotel 10.

Hotel and room were excellent. Location was great. Parking was free.

Staff was terrific. As I recall, concierge/doormen were earnest about helping with ideas for activities and restaurants, but the recommendations were sort of vague and for that reason not so useful. I also recall that when we went to breakfast, there was unreasonable panic by the hostess because we mistakenly sat down without realiizing we were supposed to check in (breakfast was included and no one was at the host stand at the moment we walked in)

This is THE luxury boutique hotel to stay in Christchurch. The room was comfortable, and the service was impeccable. Every staff we encountered were courteous. Food at their restaurant was very nice, so were the choices of wines by glass. The George bear was a nice touch, our old buddy now has a younger twin brother. If we ever make our way back to Christchurch, this is the place to stay. Book early, they do tend to sell out, I wonder why :)

If I had to cherrypick, the wifi signal in my room was a bit unstable.

I had such a lovely stay at The George. The staff are exceptional - all so welcoming, friendly and helpful (reception, restaurant staff and cleaners). Even a small "hickup" at checkin was dealt with so professionally, and ended up being an entertaining aspect of our trip. The "menu" breakfast was lovely... and the macaron's were exceptional! My son hasn't stopped playing with the teddy bear given. A charming touch to our stay. We look forward to returning.

Everything was simply lovely

The George is my "go to" hotel in Christchurch. Great rooms, quality restaurant, excellent service, good location and value for money. Highly recommended.

The George is a beautiful boutique hotel in a great location in Christchurch with a personal training gym adjacent to the property and included in the hotel facilities. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of variety and healthy options. The service was exceptional. We felt very pampered and welcome at the hotel. Surprisingly crunchy and delicious apples in the lobby and in public areas on each floor. We didn’t use the guest laundry facilities but really appreciated that they were available. It was a nice fifteen minute walk to Riverside Market, and is across the street from a Hagley Park, which is huge and gorgeous. Also very close to the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

We loved everything about the property. It is a very nice boutique hotel. We especially appreciated early check-in and late check-out to accommodate our flights.

Location was good, breakfast was very good with good choices, apples available every day, full range of amenities available and stocked daily (toothbrush, shower cap, etc), heated floor in bathroom - no complaints. All Staff were EXCEPTIONAL, a special shoutout to Mark (concierge) who went above and beyond to ensure our stay and visit to Christchurch was enjoyable and memorable.

No complaints at all.

Pleasant quiet location opposite North Harley Park. Easy to walk into the centre and not too far. Good parking. Large executive room with good facilities. Breakfasts with good quality ingredients. Dinners good too.

Service in the restaurant slow at times. Seemed too few staff for the number of visitors. First night at dinner took a long time to be served. At breakfast they ran out of pasties so I asked if they could be topped up. Nothing happened and no-one said anything to me. On the day we arrived. We were asked if we would like a drink taken to our room so we asked for coffees. They took at least half an hour to arrive.

Christchurch is a pretty city, and staying at The George made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel food and drinks were great, and the attention to detail and service were impeccable. One of us left the passport in the room only to find out (when we were 200 klms driving towards our next destination), when The George called us. They immediately arranged to have it delivered to our following hotel, which we received on arrival. A life saver 🥰 We would stay at The George again.

Nothing to fault.

Location was great for us - we were stopping in Christchurch for a night before picking up our rental car to drive south. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were fantastic. The bed was too soft for us. I accidentally left an item in the hotel room and the staff returned it to me promptly and efficiently - many thanks to them.

The bed was very soft in our room and I found myself sleeping 'in the ditch' made by previous guests.
