The location of the villa is fantastic -- right across the street from one of the arts centers and one block down from the large art museum. The botanic garden was a block away. There were good restaurants, shops and cafes right near the villa, and then a bunch of restaurants across the bridge near the River Market and along Regents Street. The couple running the villa were very friendly and helpful.

There is no hot option for breakfast. There is plenty of fruit, bread, pastries, cold cuts, and cheese but no eggs, bacon, or sausage.

Karen and Cherie were excellent hosts and were helpful and informative about the local area. . Our room was comfortable and provided all we needed. There was plenty of bedding to accommodate the changing temperature as the season changed. Local restaurants were good and plentiful

Although the room had a heating unit it was not really adequate to keep the room warm. We were in Christchurch at the turn of the season into Autumn and found morning and evenings to be particularly cool. Car parking could be a problem as there were only 6 spaces but good use was made of the available space.

Situated in the historic part of Christchurch. Opposite the Botanical Gardens and walking distance to restaurants. Well maintained property. Everything was spotlessly clean. Fabulous hosts. Great breakfast. Great bed and bath 😀

The Classic Villa is such a beautiful property to stay at and is only a few minutes walk into the main area of Christchurch for all the bars, restaurants and shops. Our room on the ground floor was clean and comfortable, self serve continental breakfast had enough choice to start our day with great coffee too. There is a lovely lounge area where you can sit and relax which looks out onto the garden area. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the dining/kitchen area and are available at all times. The staff were just great, we would like to say a big thanks to Steve and Jackie - Karen and Sheree for a great stay.

We could not fault a thing.

The location was perfect for us, with the beautiful Botanic Gardens and arts centre in the Canterbery University building close by. Restaurants and cafes are also within walking distance, as is the city, but the famous city tram passes by regularly which is also convenient. Breakfast was a variety of cereals, fruit, cheeses and cold meets, toast and condiments, bottomless freshly brewed coffee and a generous variety of teas to choose from. Karen and Cherie were friendly and welcoming hosts, totally focused on making our stay the best it could be. They kindly organised an early morning taxi to the airport for us which was much appreciated. The Classic Villa has gorgeous heritage rooms which we loved, but there are modern ones. Everything was spotless, we had a relaxing guest lounge and lovely outdoor area as well, just fabulous.

The Classic Villa is perfectly located for a stay in Christchurch: - easily accessible from the airport, - just opposite the famous Arts Centre with its historic buildings (we recommend a guided tour) and highly recommended eateries (Cellar Door for dinner, Bunsen for coffee and cake) - a few steps from the magnificent botanical gardens and - all the city's attractions a pleasant stroll away (e.g. Christ Church Cathedral, the Cardboard Cathedral, CoCA: Center of Contemporary Art, the Christchurch Art Gallery). The reception at the small but excellent hotel is very friendly and extremely attentive. The breakfast is generous and filling for the day. Our room was charmingly furnished and the bathroom and WC were generously equipped. The lounges were perfect for reading and daydreaming after a day out …. We will gladly return to The Classic Villa. Steve and Jackie are wonderful hosts.

Everything perfekt

The highlight of our Christchurch stay was the staff at Classic Villa - in particular Calitta (apologies for guessing the spelling her name). She was tireless in her efforts to ensure we had the best possible stay (not just us - everyone who was staying at the Villa) and she was incredibly kind and friendly. She is an absolute asset. Also, Helena who was cleaning the rooms was wonderful - warm and friendly and made us feel at home.

The drainage in the shower of our room was not adequate, meaning the floor flooded when the shower was used.

Superb location, nested in the heart of Christchurch city, opposite the Art Centre and just steps away from most sights, the Museum, Botanical Gardens, Avon River and Library, literally living in the garden. The villa is a hotel with continental breakfast included (not AirBnb with cookware). For guests with a Chinese palate (like my families), heaps dining options within walking distance. The stunning heritage building preservation and tasteful interior refurbishment truly make each room tell its own tale. The hosts are very personable. If you are interested in the story of the house such as the first owner, the globe-like decanter, the exquisite glass curtain wall, etc, I highly suggest you spare some time and talk to Despina and Costa as they are the walking history of this villa. Highly recommend staying here on your next visit to Christchurch.

The Classic Villa is beautiful and just a few minutes' walk from the centre of Christchurch. The owners/staff are friendly, easy to talk to, and so helpful. Checking in and checking out was easy, and the continental style breakfast was great. Coffee, tea, and cookies are available all day if required, as is chilled water, and there were one or two other nice little touches. We would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends if they should ever visit Christchurch.

We were warmly welcomed by Steve, the proprietor who made sure we were comfortable and everything we needed. Our room was tastefully decorated with antique furniture. I think every room was individually decorated. He made some great suggestions for dinner and the property is located a quick walk from great shops and restaurants of Christchurch. He showed us the fridge in the kitchen where we could store any food that needed to stay cold. It was also stocked with chilled wine available for check out on the honor system. We met Jackie, the other proprietor at breakfast. Both Steve and Jackie worked hard to serve us a delicious breakfast and to make sure our coffee cup was never empty. It was fun eating breakfast "family style" with the other guests to share our vacation experiences. We left a portable speaker in the room. Steve called me and even took the trouble to mail it to me at our next destination in Queenstown. That is service above and beyond!
