The room was large and well furnished with antiques. The bed was very large and comfortable. There was the use of a mini bar and nespresso coffee machine. The wardrobe was plenty big enough for the two us for our four night stay. Ten coat hangers and ample drawer space in the room. Large, very powerful shower. Bath robes and slippers provided and the towels were changed daily. We were overlooking the rear of the property onto the street. There were three large windows, with shutters, blackout curtains and thinner curtains, so plenty of privacy. Breakfast was buffet style but there was the option of having omelettes or fried eggs cooked to order. Plenty of choice and good quality ingredients. The hotel also managed the kiosk located in the park opposite. A lovely place to sit outside, even in December! Staff were friendly and helpful; looked after our luggage after we arrived early. The hotel was in a good district very close to public transport and within walking district to the centre of the city.

The hotel is so adorable, charming, with a vibe that is very cool. The location was great for us in a nicer section of Lisbon. The staff was wonderful and i loved talking to them; they were all very helpful and kind. The rooms had nice espresso machine, hot water kettle. The breakfast was outstanding! Even for Gluten free, the choices were wonderful, but for people who can eat anything....wow...i also loved the front outdoor tables to have an afternoon coffee or drink. OH the sheets were so nice.

There was a problem with the AC in the middle of the night which woke me up every night. The staff reset, but kept going it. They cared very much about my comfort and i would stay there again for sure!! LOVED this place.

Alegria Hotel is a really really lovely hotel, the personal touch is everywhere, from excellent helpful staff, spotless clean rooms, brilliant location, great beds, lovely decor, excellent food, and the garden view rooms well worth booking, superb hotel to stay in to see Lisbon and would definately recommend to everyone to stay here!

Nothing everything was perfect!

They have a buffet breakfast with a wide selection of food, and they will also make you an omelette for no extra cost if desired. Also they provide cafe latte on order, again free of charge.

It's an old building, which is actually very charming. The floors are not completely flat, but that did not worry me. Just one issue, which I encountered in a few restaurants in Lisbon too, is that my (Visa) credit card was rejected by the machine, for no reason that I could ascertain. Luckily I had another way to pay the small extra charge (the main bill was paid in advance), but it's something that I realised one has to be prepared for.

The Alegria is a great little hotel in a very central location. We ended up walking 9 miles each day and found that the hotel was perfectly easy as a jumping off point on foot for Alfama, Bairro Alto, Baixa-Chiado, Moorish Quarter and even Principe Real. The hotel is very close to the metro, and well linked for buses, trams and even a funicular up to the nearby Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara. We didn't have breakfast and so I can't comment on that- as a group we preferred to come across nice places for a coffee and a pastel de nata each morning. On arriving back at the hotel for a change each afternoon, the rooms were spotlessly made up. I appreciated the bedding, towels, amenities, proper kettle and nespresso machine, and also the double glazed windows which definitely did well to block out any noise. The hotel has an elevator and a simple staircase running up directly to rooms- the hotel isn't huge and so it takes just a second to quickly nip back to the room. Diego at Reception was very helpful in assisting in changing my room on arrival which I really appreciated. Booking taxis and anything we needed was dealt with helpfully and efficiently. We all enjoyed the iced water and snacks in Reception each afternoon. The kiosk across the street (food is prepared in the hotel's kitchen) is a nice spot for an apperitif and it's definitely one of the quieter, more peaceful squares. I'd definitely stay at the hotel again next time we're back in Lisbon.

There was a slightly odd smell in the room on the first two nights and was the same for family members on the floor above. I'm not sure if it was drains, but it did seem to fade away for the second half of the trip. We put it down to it being an old building. On arriving at the hotel, we were slightly shocked to see the building next door is derelict (although it looks like architects have been employed to restore it) and there is construction work across the square. However, neither of these two things were in any way a problem and we didn't hear any building work going on at all.

An exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful and located in a small square right behind Avenida de Libderdade. The staff was very polite and the attention to detail was amazing. I arrived a night before my birthday and tomorrow, on the day of my birthday I was up early exploring the city. When I returned to the hotel, the staff had left cake and a birthday note in my room. I was beyond impressed by this gesture. The rooms were beautiful and clean, and the bed super comfortable. I'm not sure when I'll be back in Lisbon, but I'm sure of where I'll stay if I do.

We loved this hotel! It’s very central, we walked everywhere. The room was a good size and very quiet, there was no noise at night. The shower was great too, with a strong flow of hot water. The bathroom cosmetics were of high quality and smelled amazing. The breakfast was delicious; there were plenty of options and the food quality was also excellent. For example, the ham was delicious, and you could tell because it ran out quickly. There were also eggs, vegetables, all kinds of desserts... The breakfast room was very pleasant too, very calm and beautiful. But the best part was the hotel staff, who were super friendly and kind. I hope they are paid a decent salary for their work.

Liked everything

The location was great - beautiful scenery (the park across the street is beautiful!), the area felt safe. It was a short walk to good restaurants nearby. The hotel is gorgeous, the room was nice and clean. The bed and bedding were very comfortable, which was perfect after long travel. The staff was the best part of the hotel in my opinion. They communicated well before our stay, and I had asked to arrange for a bottle of bubbly and a bday note in our room since we were celebrating my husband's birthday. Not only did they send a fantastic bottle & thoughtful note, they also sent a plate of dessert and fruit along with it. They also helped us arrange for transportation from the airport since our flight was arriving super early in the AM, and I wasn't sure of Uber availability at that time. They made everything seamless for us, and we felt very welcomed. Wished we could've stayed longer. I highly recommend this hotel.

There really wasn't anything we didn't like. The noise from the outside was very minimal, the hotel itself was quiet. The only noise was within the room since there are wood floors and heavy bathroom door, so getting up in the middle of the night creates some creaky noises, but it really was not bad at all.

Loved everything about Hotel Alegria. Location was fantastic! Walking distance to major attractions and to trams. The room was a great size for a couple. Very clean and had most things we needed, and staff were very helpful if we needed anything else. Bed was super comfy and loved the view out our window and how the window could be opened. Air conditioning was great on the hot summer days. Blockout blinds were also fantastic for the sleep ins after long flights. Loved all the little details like the coaster with a hand painted picture of the hotel.

Excellent location and really good breakfast buffet! Beautiful decor in the breakfast rooms. Beds were comfortable and we had top floor views of the castle.

The small lobby/check in area is in desperate need of renovation and upgrades, and does not match the more upscale decor in the rest of the hotel or the beautiful exterior. The check in person was doing double duty as a concierge so we had to wait awhile to check in. They also didn't have enough room keys so we had to share one. The rooms and bathrooms were quite nice but the walls were very thin - we could hear every move our neighbors made.
