Beautifully decorated (brand new! I was honoured to be their first guest on opening) and impeccably clean, in a wonderfully central location. Only a 2 min walk to the riverside and ferry terminals, and to the city centre. Also lovely and quiet at night considering the central location. The warm welcome by Jessica on arrival and the thoughtful attention to detail and assistance (including an excellent restaurant recommendation) by all the staff during my stay was outstanding. I would highly recommend this fabulous boutique hotel, and look forward to visiting again soon!

My wife and I spent four unforgettable days at AlmaLusa Alfama to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen something truly special. The hotel is a beautifully restored building that perfectly captures the charm and soul of Lisbon’s historic Alfama district. Every detail, from the elegant design to the thoughtful amenities, reflects care and authenticity. The architecture and interior decor blend the old and new in a way that feels both luxurious and intimate, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the staff. Every member of the team—from the front desk to housekeeping—was genuinely warm, professional, and attentive. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home, always greeting us with a smile and offering thoughtful recommendations that made our Lisbon experience even richer. Their attention to detail and hospitality elevated every moment of our stay. It’s rare to find a place where you feel so personally cared for. AlmaLusa Alfama isn’t just a beautiful hotel—it’s an experience crafted with heart. We left with full hearts, grateful memories, and a strong desire to return. If you’re looking for a romantic, refined, and deeply welcoming place to stay in Lisbon, this is it. Highly recommended.

Booked this hotel as we wanted somewhere easy to reach by Metro (coming from the airport) and also being close to the cruise terminal. AlmaLusa Alfama is a 3-minute walk to the Metro and 10-minutes to the ship. So many of the hotels are located on busy streets, but AlmaLusa Alfama is on a square with very little road traffic. We had room 12 (superior double) which was on the 1st floor (2nd floor in North America). Only rooms on the 1st floor have double doors leading to a Juliet balcony. The room and furnishings were beautiful. It was very bright having the balcony doors and a huge window in the bathroom. Heavy drapes blocked out any light for sleeping. We didn't notice any outside noise at night, except for one night when a terrible rain and windstorm went through...patio furniture was flying everywhere! The staff were all friendly, especially Jessica who checked us in and gave us tips of what to see and always asked us what we had done during the day. Breakfast was delicious; cold foods and made to order eggs and grilled veggies. We stayed 4 nights and plan to book again when we're in Lisbon in 2026. There are 3? steps inside the hotel to get you to the reception level and elevators. There was a side door off an alley that I imagine would give wheelchair access and then you would be able to move around all areas in the hotel..

That we didn't have the time to stay longer.

Rarely has the description “superb” been more appropriately applied to a hotel. The building is beautifully stylish, the bedroom and communal spaces immaculate and wonderfully scented, the breakfast more than you could possibly need - a combination of cold buffet and eggs cooked (anyway) on demand. It is perfectly located for walking just about anywhere. But what made our stay absolutely perfect were the staff. They could not have been more friendly and helpful. Without doubt we will return to stay on another occasion.

Even if I had to, I would struggle to find any criticism

The most thing I liked was the staff. They were super friendly and helpful. Every time I come down to the reception they all stand up and welcome me. They know their city very well and loved their restaurant recommendations. The hotel has this cozy warm atmosphere that I loved so much! The check out night they gave me a little cute gift (hand cream) that was placed on my bed. I thought was such a wonderful touch!

The smell of the toilet in my room (sewage smell not that strong though). When I arrived the smell was also in the corridors of my floor. I complained about the smell and the staff was attentive and took my complaint into serious consideration.

Staff was very helpful, and kindly upgraded our room without our requesting. The hotel is tastefully designed and in a nice, walkable location near the water. We didn’t try the breakfast but appreciated having the cafe downstairs.

My partner and I both prefer a cooler room at night, and the lack of a fan or air circulation in the room made it difficult to sleep; we ended up opening the window overlooking the street several nights but this had the effect of bringing in the city noises.

It's a heritage building, predating the 1755 earthquake, in an historical part of Lisbon, close to the centre and to many major attractions as well as public transport. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts are good. Our bathroom was large, with an excellent shower, and mirrors all round the walls which created an amusing 'hall of mirrors' effect. Guests are able to use at any time a tea and coffee maker in the hotel lobby.

The heritage nature of the building, while charming, does impose space limitations. Our standard double room was quite small (except for the bathroom) and had very little storage space; some higher categories of rooms may well have more space including balconies. Similarly, the breakfast room can get quite cramped if a lot of people are eating there at once. The bathrooms could be enhanced by the provision of facecloths - if you want one, you need to bring your own.

The hotel is in a great location, about 5 minute walk from Praca Comercio and the cathedral. It's on the edge of a small pedestrian square, so traffic noise is almost non existent. Our room was sort of adequate size, and had all the amenities and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was a good size with all the amenities and the shower was easy to use. We had a “balcony” looking out to the river, but due to Lisbon’s construction rules about balconies it's only about 8inches wide, so you can only just look from inside the room. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, bringing our bags from across the square and they speak good English. The parking garage (Campo das Ebollas) is only about 3 minutes walk away - not cheap, but convenient and reasonably spacious stalls. Wifi/internet was good, The adjacent pedestrian street is filled with cafes and restaurants.

Bartender had a ungracious interaction style.

Location was perfect, overlooking the river, next door to the historic Alfama district, walkable to most tourist sites. Near to many, many restaurants. The room was cosy and well designed, with good storage, lovely shower and toliletries. The little extra daily gifts like cakes, pasteis de nata, chocolates, port was a lovely touch. The staff were very helpful

The hotel is located on a cobbled square and the laundry is delivered with metal trolleys at 3am. The noise was incredible. However our complaint was well handled and they did their utmost to resolve the issue by moving the delivery to later and supervising it so it was quieter. We were on the 1st floor, higher up rooms would be quieter.

Breakfast was mainly continental with cooked eggs in various forms. There was a variety of pastries, cold meats and cereals etc. and hot drinks and juices. The location of the hotel was perfect - a few mins from metro (so easy connection to airport) twenty min walk to train station (train to Belim or coast). Hotel very close to cathedral and castle with a lift at side of hotel to reduce walk up hills. The thing that impressed us the most were all the staff. Reception were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Waiting staff were kind and helpful and hospitality did an amazing job also. We were left cake on first day and hand cream on last night - very thoughtful touches. It is a coffee machine only in the rooms, so if you only drink tea like us take (or buy locally) tea bags and ask for a kettle on arrival and hospitality will provide this. If revisiting Lisbon I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Some drawers in bedroom would have been useful.
