The marina view from the Horizon club room was fabulous as was the breakfast and evening drinks and canapés at the Horizon Club lounge. The staff servicing the room were very friendly and did a great job as were the staff at the Club lounge. Very much appreciated. Complimentary champagne and strawberries during one night of our stay just added to the experience.

We spent 6 nights in a Horizon Club room for a much needed break. Our request to have a marina view room was gratefully honoured - the view from our room was spectacular - it was relaxing to simply look out of the window. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were amazing - always friendly and helpful. Gratitude to the Front Office Manager Alastair and Horizon Club staff member Federica for their service and support. House keeping was also very responsive. Loved the Horizon Club which included a breakfast buffet and canapés at night. Location is fabulous - right on the marina and close to various cafes and restaurants. The hotel has a very relaxed and friendly vibe which we loved.

Just some minor feedback. Being a vegetarian/vegan is still challenging in Australia whilst travelling. I was grateful for the vegetarian offerings on the menu for the Backyard restaurant but this could be extended. Also the hot canapé offerings at the Horizon Club - 1 out of 4 was vegetarian and mostly fried. I would have appreciated less fried options. Very grateful for vegetables at breakfast buffet, but some variety across 6 mornings and a change in vegan protein from baked beans (tinned unfortunately) would also have been appreciated.

Staff went above and beyond, making our 6-night stay comfortable. The location was great and we had a beautiful breakfast by the water. Being near the ferry terminal was handy as most of our activities required us to head out into the water. The hotel was also within walking distance to the main city area and the esplanade. The view was lovely as it had partial view of the waters and mountains. Room size and set up was great. Lovely gesture with a welcome gift. Pool area was amazing and great for families with kids. We will definitely be back.

We had roaches (2) in our hotel room on the walls and floors, and the duty manager handled it well, which is understandable with a tropical climate. Beds were alright, but the pillows would need to be changed as it gave me a stiff neck in the mornings. Room service dining needs improvement with the quality of food. The Thai beef salad was drenched in sauce, which made it hard on the palate.

We loved absolutely everything about this hotel. The hotel was impeccable - very clean and up to date facilities. Staff were super friendly, constantly greeting and assisting. The location was perfect for us, we walked basically everywhere other than day trips where we needed to take a boat or van. The buffet breakfast was unreal - worth every cent. Jen from reception was absolutely amazing and very accommodating throughout our stay. I accidentally booked a twin bed room and she fixed that up upon arrival. We loved our stay at the Shangri La hotel. We will definitely be booking again.

Can't fault a single thing. Our entire stay was exceptional.

We were supposed to be on a boat but my daughter tested positive for COVID right before we boarded and I had to quickly find a place to isolate. The Shangri-La was ideal: beautiful, large, light room and delicious food and drink delivered to her door. The lovely balcony and enormous bathtub made her happy and she never felt cooped up. It made the trip lovely in spite of the circumstances.

The public areas do need a bit of a freshening up, which is to be expected in the tropics. Still. It does not detract from the overall comfort and light of the rooms.

Location was good, central even tho the park below was worrying noisy with some unrest one night. Bars n restaurants music was also a bit disturbing, patrons very rowdy after close times.

This is a very well located hotel in Cairns with stunning sea views (if you have a sea view room!). The room was large and generally in good condition and the staff were friendly. The hotel is more of a resort style (as is sometimes the case with Shangri-La) and there is often a little walk to your room, but not too bad. Parking was initially a little confusing - a mall is also within the complex - your best bet is to pay the hotel valet to do this. This hotel was very good value for money and we enjoyed our stay in it.

This bills itself as a 5* hotel but there are a couple of areas it needs to improve in the public areas. Specifically some broken chairs in the restaurant were not great and some of the outside areas need some maintenance - loose tiles near the pool and a stained ceiling in the restaurant. These should be an easy fixed for the hotel and have been noted by others. That said - this was a great value place to stay and our room was absolutely fine.

We had one of the suites rooms and whilst the room and the size was lovely, we felt the furniture didn't meet the expectations, very dated and mismatched to the room. The room wasn't overly clean, we found used tissues and papers in drawers and under sofa and also found a couple of hairs on the shower wall. Additionally, I had to ask for bathroom products to be changed as they hadnt been replaced and the toilet seat was also loose. That said, it hasn't totally put us off and we would definitely stay at this hotel again

We loved everything . The service. Pool is fantastic.room was a great size with balcony .we could see all views .. the festival was on .we could see all the light shows at the lagoon pool and surrounds. The gardens a credit to maintenance. And thankyou to all the cleaning staff they are under estimated .. Thankyou to the front of house staff too. And the happy cheffs and staff in the BACKYARD restaurant. Breakfast was excellent.

The bed was on rollers and moved very easily nearly causing a couple of falls as we got in and or sat on it. ALSO no puck for the air hockey table .the bar staff said there hadnt been one for weeks. THAT was very disappointing.
