Staff went above and beyond, making our 6-night stay comfortable. The location was great and we had a beautiful breakfast by the water. Being near the ferry terminal was handy as most of our activities required us to head out into the water. The hotel was also within walking distance to the main city area and the esplanade. The view was lovely as it had partial view of the waters and mountains. Room size and set up was great. Lovely gesture with a welcome gift. Pool area was amazing and great for families with kids. We will definitely be back.

We had roaches (2) in our hotel room on the walls and floors, and the duty manager handled it well, which is understandable with a tropical climate. Beds were alright, but the pillows would need to be changed as it gave me a stiff neck in the mornings. Room service dining needs improvement with the quality of food. The Thai beef salad was drenched in sauce, which made it hard on the palate.

Location was good, central even tho the park below was worrying noisy with some unrest one night. Bars n restaurants music was also a bit disturbing, patrons very rowdy after close times.

We loved absolutely everything about this hotel. The hotel was impeccable - very clean and up to date facilities. Staff were super friendly, constantly greeting and assisting. The location was perfect for us, we walked basically everywhere other than day trips where we needed to take a boat or van. The buffet breakfast was unreal - worth every cent. Jen from reception was absolutely amazing and very accommodating throughout our stay. I accidentally booked a twin bed room and she fixed that up upon arrival. We loved our stay at the Shangri La hotel. We will definitely be booking again.

This is a very well located hotel in Cairns with stunning sea views (if you have a sea view room!). The room was large and generally in good condition and the staff were friendly. The hotel is more of a resort style (as is sometimes the case with Shangri-La) and there is often a little walk to your room, but not too bad. Parking was initially a little confusing - a mall is also within the complex - your best bet is to pay the hotel valet to do this. This hotel was very good value for money and we enjoyed our stay in it.

This bills itself as a 5* hotel but there are a couple of areas it needs to improve in the public areas. Specifically some broken chairs in the restaurant were not great and some of the outside areas need some maintenance - loose tiles near the pool and a stained ceiling in the restaurant. These should be an easy fixed for the hotel and have been noted by others. That said - this was a great value place to stay and our room was absolutely fine.

We loved everything . The service. Pool is fantastic.room was a great size with balcony .we could see all views .. the festival was on .we could see all the light shows at the lagoon pool and surrounds. The gardens a credit to maintenance. And thankyou to all the cleaning staff they are under estimated .. Thankyou to the front of house staff too. And the happy cheffs and staff in the BACKYARD restaurant. Breakfast was excellent.

The bed was on rollers and moved very easily nearly causing a couple of falls as we got in and or sat on it. ALSO no puck for the air hockey table .the bar staff said there hadnt been one for weeks. THAT was very disappointing.

Friendly and attentive service from all staff with whom I interacted across F&B and Front Office. Very kindly granted an early check-in once room was ready. Excellent location with scenic view from the Backyard Restaurant, whilst enjoying both breakfast, and beverages from the bar. Lovely scenic tropical gardens around the poolside area, and excellent privacy when enjoying the room patio.

More frequent clearance in F&B outlets (Backyard & Pool Bar). Greater range of breakfast choices. Room floor could have been cleaner (was grainy underfoot after accessing the room on check-in). A floor mat would be helpful to reduce movement of dirt from outside to inside when moving from the patio to the room. Turn down service would have been nice, considering the room price.

The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The location was excellent, close to the CBD and all activities. The rooms were nicely furnished and the amenities were excellent.

The car parking system was really painful. A OR code was supplied (at a cost) but every time we wanted to exit the car park, the QR code did not work and we had to call the help line. This was especially frustrating when trying to exit early in the morning to catch our flight home. The staff were helpful but the system just doesn’t work. For $30 per day, the car park system needed to work better

Position is excellent & staff were all very polite & friendly. Junior suite had excellent views & was quiet & spacious. Horizon club was well run & breakfast excellent along with evening drinks. Beds & pillows comfortable & appreciated bottles of water each day.

Furniture provided in lounge area of our room was not compatible with watching TV/ or conversing easily or providing any sort of ambiance. Minimal amount & in need of replacement as quite worn & outdated. Many chairs in restaurant clearly beyond use by date & broken rattan & extremely large & heavy. Whole initial impression is a need for replacement & more modern furniture & interior decoration. throughout.

Great location and excellent services from the staff. The Horizon Club is a great, convenient benefit serving up not just breakfast and all day snacks, but beer and wine and spirits in the evening! After reading some reviews on this place being a little run down, I was hesitant to book, but please don't be. Yes it is getting old, is not a brand new hotel and probably needs a refresh but the location and hospitality certainly make it all worth while! It is clean and the service from the staff is 5 star. There are plenty of restaurants within a short walk. In fact most things you will want to access are within about 1km and if you are heading to the reef, most tours depart right at our doorstep on the Marina.

As per previous reviews, the rooms probably are in need of a refresh but they are spacious and roomy. The bed was quite a hard mattress and too firm for my liking. The fitness centre could do with a large ranger of equipment but is typical of most hotel set ups and is still sufficient, It has treadmills, elliptical and, free weights and a bench press.

View was great! Room was spacious - comfortable and clean for a 5-night stay. Staff on arrival were helpful and throughout the stay. The room offered all facilities, robe, slippers, plenty of hanging space, good iron and board, good hairdyer, good bathroom lighting, kettle and fridge. Handy to Cairns Reef Fleet terminal and Esplanade. The hotel pool garden with tropical plants and potted flowers is beautiful and worth a visit to check out - kudos to your gardeners.

The water pressure and temperature in the shower was variable - But at least there was a functional handheld shower (therainshower isn't great for anyone who prefers to keep their hair from being soaked). It was a walk to our 'tower' room - but it was well worth it for the view and the extra room space. (and the staff were super helpful with luggage). The walking distance to the 'tower rooms' potentially wouldn't suit very young or those with restricted mobility. There are closer rooms if you need to avoid the walk.
