Great central location and very cheap considering that it’s right in the centre. We were able to easily come back to the room multiple times a day without it being a long walk. It was helpful having a hair dryer, iron/ironing board and toiletries already in the room. Especially helpful having a powerful fan! Bed was very soft and comfortable and very spacious. Room was quite big too so we had plenty of room to scatter our stuff and put things away.

The room was very very stuffy, the fan was very much appreciated though as we wouldn’t have managed without it. The TV was very small, you couldn’t really see the screen when sat in bed. Some of the plug sockets underneath the desk didn’t work (room 4). At the time of booking it mentioned there was a mini fridge in the room which was a huge bonus for me as someone with a food allergy that often brings my own food to places. However when we arrived there was no mini fridge and it had been removed from the listing. Not sure if it was a change to the rooms or a glitch!

The location of the hotel was perfect. All the sights could be reached on foot. There was a car park behind the hotel where you could safely leave the car overnight. The room was very spacious and light from the many windows. Even though the room was above a popular pub, we were never bothered by the noise. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. As there is no elevator, we were happy to have our bags carried to our room for us.

Some of the furniture was looking a little tired. The hallway carpet was dirty and well used. The breakfasts were mainly fried foods, so it would be better if they offered some healthier and lighter options.

Overall the hotel/Inn was very nice, staff were friendly and happy to help. Breakfast and evening meal were cooked and presented well. For a central location the Coach House is perfect.

Probably due to the location and being on a weekend, even though we were on the top floor the disturbance from loud music went on until about midnight, some from the Inn itself (I do appreciate it's a pub) which quietened down about 10 pm, and also from surrounding Bars/Restaurants which went on until after midnight. We were conscious of having to turn the volume of the TV in the room up quite loudly to hear it. This may be a different experience during the week. We would also have liked to see a fridge in the room but unfortunately not, especially on a very warm weekend

Staff very helpful. Very good location. Everything on your doorstep for Chester city. Cathedral opposite . Everything clean and lovely, big room. Night Porter was very helpful as we arrived after midnight, he helped us and made us feel very welcomed. Has all the facilities for food and drink we didn't use as visiting family but smelt lovely. Plenty of choice for food and drinks around location. Nice towels, they actually dry you. Good shower. Plenty toilet roll. Nice shampoo etc..used these. Plenty of tea coffee and would get you more if needed. Got me some honey for my coffee, nice . Iron is a good one and nice not to have to ask for one . Really lovely stay.

We were at the side by town hall so you could hear bins being emptied but went straight back to sleep. If you want city centre location you need to understand these jobs need doing when all others sleeping. It was OK . There is nothing to dislike. Got everything you need for mini break.

We travelled by car. Multi-storey car park literally behind the property at Chester Market. The Coach House was as advertised and did not disappoint. The only issue for me was our allocated room was on the 2nd floor and there is no lift due to this being a listed building. The staff member tried her upmost to change this for us, but unfortunately as they only have 8 rooms there was nothing else available. However, once I made it up the stairs and saw the room, I immediately changed my mind. The room was lovely, spacious, had everything we needed and overlooked the square/cathedral. Couldn't get more central with the Cathedral opposite and everything within walking distance. We ate there our whole visit as didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Both evening meals and breakfast were lovely and did not disappoint. Fortunately the days we had chosen to visit including the set menu offer, so on the first night we had 2 lovely main courses for just £22. The service was exceptional with table service and the staff throughout our whole experience couldn't do enough, very polite, professional and helpful. A very enjoyable stay, will definitely return and would recommend this to others.

Initially the only thing for me was that our room was on the second floor, but I soon changed my mind once I saw our room.

The breakfast and helpfulness of the staff were exceptional. The position of the hotel was excellent, if a little noisy at night.

I was surprised that the room wasn’t serviced mid stay, perhaps just an oversight. A notice to hang on the door would have been useful, indicating if service was required. This is the only hotel I have visited which didn’t provide this. The bathroom lighting was very dim. The sheets and towels could have been better quality and not so old, even though they were very clean. Two new lampshades required. Just a little more attention to detail would make the room perfect.

First class location, perfect for short stays. My wife and I have used the Coach House Inn a few times now and love it. It is a great, well run 4☆ working pub restaurant in a perfect location. We book here for graduations and couldn't ask for more. Literally 30 seconds from the beautiful cathedral so can wait until the last minute before changing into our dress gear but can nip back if we have forgotten anything. . If you haven't been to city centre before, cars are excluded from this area so this accommodation is priceless. Ryan and the team work hard to provide a great service. Yes, it is a working pub so they do get deliveries early on Friday morning (6.30am) and yes you will hear music until 11 ish at the weekends but this is to be expected. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent and the rooms are clean, warm and freshly decorated . Residents are always catered for, with a small separate resident's area and a discreet side door if required. Highly recommended city centre accommodation, with easy access to the heart of the city.

Only suggestion- Let residents know in advance re early deliveries or special events such as race meetings/ graduations etc to allow pre planning.

The staff were lovely and very accommodating. It was mine and my partners anniversary, and the staff had no issue in helping me set the room up with flowers, petals and fake candles for when we return from our evening out. Further more, the staff were happy to hold onto our luggage while we explored the city, whilst waiting for our train in the evening, after we had checked out.

1) No air-con but did have a big fan. 2) the shower pressure wasn't amazing and struggled to drain. 3) two single pushed together, instead of 1 double bed

Just enjoyed a lovely two night stay. Great central location. Our room was small and traditional but had everything we needed including iron, ironing board, safe, small fridge, hairdryer, tea making facilities, drawers and hanging space for clothes and a tv. The bed was comfortable too. Guests are provided with a key to the side door so you don’t have to use the main pub entrance. The pub / restaurant facilities downstairs were excellent. We ate in the restaurant both nights … great food and nice atmosphere. All staff were fantastic… friendly and professional. When we checked in we were asked if we required housekeeping (change of towels and bed sheets) during our stay. On saying that we didn’t we were given a £5 voucher to use in the restaurant- we thought this was a nice touch.

Wonderful hotel with class staff and great atmosphere.... Ode to the Coach House I wandered into Chester One cold November day Happened on the Coach House Inn A treat I have to say I strode into the taproom A smiling face did greet This travel weary wanderer Out now on my feet "Take the weight off pal" he said Ryan it be my name This be home from home for now To mind you is our aim The lady known as Emily Alights now from the bar Not too long til babe arrives 9  weeks it seems so far A holler from the kitchen comes Was that an Irish voice? Ronnie bundles in for chat We didn't have a choice We swapped an insult here and there A funny man indeed While Clare watched on in quiet aplomb Til it was time to feed And we'll fed up I truly was Ronnie's menu full With tasty grub of all sorts Not a morsel dull I crawled into a feather bed My words I will not mince And had a sleep I never had Before or even since And when I had to take my leave Depart this treasured place I thought of how they all performed With humour and with grace So when in Chester you are next Trust me when I say The Coach is waiting patiently For you to come and stay E.P KEARNEY
