The staff was the high point! Very nice and helpful, all of them! The room was very clean in general, there were some breakfast items, coffee and tea, towels (changed every day if you need), shower gel, water in the shower was hot and good pressure, wifi worked perfectly. There is a bus stop right next to the hotel and a metro station 20 minutes away. There is a small and fun local pub, with nice beer and music, a place where the locals like to hangout, we could not hear the music from our room (ground floor!). If you are looking for a low budget in London, here is a very nice and pleasant place to stay! Some comments mention that the area is a bit scary, indeed it's not the nicest looking side of London, but me and my partner walked a lot by the neighborhood and NEVER had any problem or felt insecure. People were very polite or just minded their business. Honestly, we would go back :)
Unfortunately, you can hear every time someone comes inside the building and can hear them talking (but you hear nothing once they are inside their room) so if you are sensitive to noise, bring some ear plugs. It's far from the center, but again, you have a bus station direct to the city center. For the staff, just a small friendly request to clean a bit better the shower's walls, as there was a bit of mold in our shower.

Aged section of London(in a local living area). Corner room, cozy, with lots of windows. Gives a real London experience. There's a pub attached on the ground floor that was full of locals that welcomed us in. It supplied a perfect end to each day of sightseeing. Vasu (the manager) was 100%interested in our comfort and happiness while staying there. There is a house kitchen with all the tools one may need to cook a meal and a small laundry facility on site as well. It's located close to bus stops. We felt comfortable and safe there. NOT fancy, clean, comfortable, accommodating. We would absolutely visit this site again and again. Thanks guys!

Quirky pub/hotel in a residential area. The rooms were basic but good, with a sink, a small fridge, kettle etc and a TV. The shared bathrooms sufficed well enough, always had hit water for showers. There was a communal kitchen with oven, microwave, washing machine and dryer, as well as a table you could easily sit 4 people at. No time restrictions on coming and going, with a separate key for the building and one for the room. I always sleep with earplugs as I'm a light sleeper and I slept well, as even though it is above a pub, the area was fairly quiet at night time. Best thing is the location, only a short bus ride from the centre of London and all the other connections you need. If I come to London again any time soon, I will be using the Hour Glass hotel again. The staff were very welcoming, well spoken and pleasant as well.

The room my partner and I stayed in was small (but spacious enough for the large amount of luggage and stuff we had with us! also absolutely comfortable), the bed was comfy and the staff is absolutely nice and incredible. We booked a double with shared bathrooms and the bathrooms were both clean and there were a lot of them too! The shared kitchen was equipped with everything one might need and it also had washing machines we could use. Also, even though there is a pub downstairs, none of the noise could be heard from the rooms. It's really nice and quiet. Also its located in a nice quiet area, pretty close to the city centre and main attractions. It also has a bus stop right across the street and the elephant & castle underground close by! I absolutely would recommend staying here and will return in the future :)

We received a fantastic welcome to the hour glass, we were met by Vasu in the bar area who was very attentive and friendly who offered a drink before showing us around. The room was clean as were the shared bathrooms. Beds were really comfy and we all agreed it was probably the best night sleep we had away from home in a long time! Thank you!
For those that aren't good with walking to far it's a little out the way from the nearest tube, ( not a concern for us even with our 10 year old though) so don't let this put you off though as for the price it's a great nights rest!

I wasn’t sure about the area initially, as it’s not somewhere I would normally stay, but my experience at the Hourglass Hotel quickly put me at ease. I was greeted by a very friendly member of staff who made me feel incredibly welcome. They showed me to my room, which was upstairs & carried my bags. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe and secure throughout my stay, which is so important. The room was clean, and warm. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a friendly and safe place to stay.
I had an issue with my television but it was quickly sorted out by a nice Member of staff.

Location was great, only a 30 minute walk to Tower Bridge, although a bar downstairs it was very quiet, small but comfortable and private bathroom plus shower was a bonus. I was there for the London bike ride so being able to keep my bike in the room was a bonus. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The fridge noise in the room was a little annoying but it was only momentary, the kettle stopped working but was exchanged and toilet seat was a little loose. Communal kitchen only opened at 10am so made breakfast a bit impossible. Nothing major by any means.

Had the en-suite room on the top floor. Twin room and en-suite were very comfortable and clean. Stand alone shower had great pressure, and shower gel provided. Beds were comfy, had good quality sheets and quilts, and a fan, heater, cereal, small fridge (with fresh milk), and plenty of Nescafé and PG tips sachets provided. Very central location (8 mins to London Bridge by bus) and fantastic value for money. Wojtek (the bar manager) provided amazing customer service. We will be back again! 😀

Staff and pricing were great, friendly atmosphere. The room was budget priced and didn't expect the Ritz, was spacious and clean.
The area is very run down, and it was a shock at first, however we didn't have any trouble, and locals seemed friendly enough. All told, we didn't dislike the stay, a slight rip in bed sheet, toilet seat a bit loose, and windows had thick curtains but could have done with some blinds, or at least net curtains. The room was good for the price though. Only had one pillow each on the bed, but when we asked for a second it was not viewed as a problem.

Everything was fine, very good value for money. The hosts are also nice and friendly! :) Located in a good location, the center is easily accessible by bus. The room and the bathroom were clean.
A minor detail, yet important for a good night's sleep: in the attic room, the window is positioned high up, which isn't problematic in itself. However, the absence of blinds or blackout curtains means that sunlight streams in quite early, around 7 in the morning :) I believe a straightforward fix would significantly enhance this, such as installing some manually adjustable blackout curtains.
