Excellent location for exploring Alnwick and the surrounding area. Dog friendly. Five minutes walk from Barter Books, 15 - 20 minutes to the town centre, Alnwick Castle and Gardens. All the staff we met during our stay were very pleasant, polite and helpful. Ample free onsite parking. Our room (21) was very nice. On the ground floor, just outside the main building. Even though the room was close to the busy main road but we found it very quiet. Super-kingsize bed was very clean and comfortable (I think could be split in to 2 x singles) Nicely decorated, well lit, lovely bedside lamps and ceiling light gave the room a bit of a luxury feel. The ceiling light also had an inbuilt fan; light and fan could both be switched on or off via remote control. The room had all the amenities needed for a short stay including the TV, usual hairdryer, iron/board, tea/coffee making facilities, USB ports in sockets either side of the bed for phone charging. Excellent over-bath twin shower, adjustable and fixed-head rain fall shower, both very powerful. Always plenty of (very) hot water available. Usual basic toiletries provided if you need them, small soap, shower gel and shampoo. Nice soft white towels. Reasonable choice for breakfast. Evening meals were usual pub food type menu, we ate there twice, slightly disappointed with one meal but second was much better. Bar and food prices very reasonable for touristy area.

For the price we paid there was nothing to dislike. Would definitely stay again if we returned to the area.

This was our first stay away with our little one in a Bed and Breakfast. We were really quite nervous on how we'd manage having stayed in airbnbs up to now and not being frequent travelers. The Oaks was fantastic, the room and bathroom were massive for the three of us, loads of space and appreciated the refreshment tray in the room. There was a nice selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. Our room was refreshed/tidied every day without us requesting this, which we appreciated. The bed was massive aswell. The young lad working on the breakfast the first two days of our stay was very kind and helpful with our little boy and is definitely in the right job. Being really friendly and helpful. The kitchen were great aswell providing porridge and boiled eggs for our little one. The cooked breakfast was lovely, I particularly enjoyed the fried bread. Not something you get very often now, what a treat! Staff were friendly and helpful, we were provided with a travel cot and baby bath, I wasn't expecting the baby bath and thought this a lovely touch. The family rooms are situated outside of the pub/inn which I think is ideal in terms of noise from the bar and restaurant area. The family rooms are also very handy for the car park which really helped with unloading everything. The Oaks is a 10/15 minute walk from Alnwick, we enjoyed walking in to the town, the location is superb. We definitely could have stayed another night or two to enjoy the Oaks and the local area for abit longer. I hope we can visit again soon and would definitely stay at the Oaks again. Thank you to all the staff.

It's a tough time for hospitality but it looked a little tired in some places, but this didn't impact our stay overall as there was definitely quality in the service from staff and the facilities for families which made up for this.

Booked a family room that was perfect. A double bed and 2 single beds with a sofa. We had a dog stopping with us a thought this would impact the standard of room allocated, it certainly didn’t. The beds were really comfortable. Room did get too warm but we had control of the thermostat on the radiator so this was easy to get to a comfortable level. A good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits available in the room. The bathroom had a very large, powerful shower with a separate bath. Lovely fresh white towels provided. The bar/restaurant appeared a very popular establishment and that was evident after ordering our meal. Portion sizes are large but home cooked food. This was also representative with the breakfast. Really good quality products that were very tasty. Even the dog had a sausage! As well as cooked produce there’s was a good selection of cereals & pastries. Good size car park so no issue parking at the property. The staff were really happy, friendly and helpful certainly wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Our breakfast was excellent. Wide choice and well prepared and served.

We had dinner but unfortunately some of the dishes on the menu were unavailable due to the restaurant having been extremely busy earlier. However the staff were excellent and ensured that we were able to choose well from dishes available. Quality of dishes was very good though the portions were too big for each of us. The roast turkey dinner my wife was served was large enough for the 2 of us!! Staff told us afterwards that small plate portions were available if we had asked. This was not stated on the menu so it would have been nice to have been told when we were ordering our meal.

The Oaks is well situated on the edge of Alnwick but within easy walking distance of the town. The hotel room we were in was a family room and was massive. Having stayed in a number of family rooms before which are just regular rooms with extra beds shoe horned in, I was pleased to see that this was not the case. There was a super king sized bed as well as two full-size singles. Oh and did I mention that it had a sofa and an arm chair? The carpet felt new and luxurious and the bathroom had a good shower and a separate bath. We were very comfortable in our stay, by far the best room we have had - sadly we were only there for one night, we could have stayed a week. Breakfast was also very good.

Easily accessed from the A1. Plenty of parking. Staff were lovely and helpful as we were there for a funeral and arrived before check in time. Went in and explained and we were allowed to leave the car and they offered to look after our luggage. Easy less than 10 minute walk into the centre, lots of things to see and super close to the amazing Barter Books. Food is a simple menu but is fab and the breakfast was amazing. Small breakfast menu but they were more than happy to cater for what we asked for - a bit of this and a bit of that. Walked in and it smelt fresh and clean. Big room, bathroom was ace with waterfall shower. To be honest we are going back!!

The room was absolutely lovely, was a bit worried about it being above the bar but couldn't hear anything other than the hand drier from the bathrooms which wasn't too much of an issue and we had the fan on (i was super surprised they supplied this!) the whole time. It was a nice size for just the 2 of us (1 child) and the bathroom was spacious and beautiful.

I found the food was quite hit and miss, there was parts of every meal that were exceptionally delicious but there was always atleast 1 thing on the plate that was burnt which was a shame, but how good the rest was sort of made it up for me, I'm not overly fussing with that sort of thing.

Near to Alnwick Castle and gardens in fact in walking distance. The bar and restaurant was good and the food I chose was good. The staff were excellent

The bedroom was comfortable but was basic , the room was chilly but unfortunately the weather had suddenly turned cold. The shower over the bath was good but am not a fan of having to get into a bath to have a shower, have had worse though!! I am not keen on being in rooms away from the main building but it was 3 star and did what it said on the can so to speak so for value for money in the area it was more than acceptable

A nice old comfortable pub atmosphere with a good carpark on site. The staff were friendly and helpful and the meals offered had plenty of variety. The room was a little tight for more distant travellers with plenty of luggage and a suit case rack would have been handy. We had to move the armchair out into the corridor to make more room for cases on the floor. The bed was very comfortable, and the TV worked well. The sash window was stuck open a little, so we had fresh air, but the hot water radiator wall heater worked very well.

The bathroom lacked hooks for bath towels and hand towels and the little electric wall mounted shower provided very little water pressure and volume for a decent shower. Care had to be taken when climbing in and out of the very deep bath when showering The shower gel was only available in tiny plastic bottles. The internet reception in our room was a bit weak with only 2 bars of signal.

We had such a wonderful stay! We were only up for the one night but we were running late because of traffic. The lady waited up for us which was so lovely. Our room was big and the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was super clean too. Breakfast was wonderful! Continental breakfast buffet, followed by toast and then whatever we wanted off the cooked menu. We went for the Northumbrian breakfast which was delicious. For the price and the location in the heart of Alnwick, the value for money was amazing. Thank you for your hospitality :)

The only thing we didn’t like about our stay if we were being really picky was the coffee with breakfast. It wasn’t very nice at all but there were cold drinks and tea available too so it’s really not the end of the world!
