Lucilla was an extremely kind host. The B&B was on the second floor and accessible by a lift/elevator. The bedroom was attractive and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was great after a long day of touring. From a window, we saw a beautiful view of Mt. Etna. Lucilla offered a wide selection of breakfast items such as fresh fruit, local pastries and cereals. She happily accommodated my vegan diet with flavored soy yogurts and soy milk for the cereal. The location was excellent, being a 5 minute walk to the train station and a 10 minute walk to the Duomo which was surrounded by restaurants. The food in Catania was delicious and my friend found the Sicilian sardine speciality incredible.

Lucilla was an excellent hostess. Extremely welcoming and helpful. We would highly recommend it. We even had a view of Etna from our little balcony in a very old historical building that is nicely decorated. The room was very clean and airy and the shower was great. Lucilla asked what type of breakfast we wanted and went out of her way to make it traditional and nice for us. We had arrived earlier than she expected, but she could not have been nicer about that. The hotel is about half way between the railway station and the cathedral - both within easy walking distance so is ideally situated. Busy-ish road outside, but very well soundproofed and the air con worked well. Catania is a lovely town and if we ever go back it will mean staying at the Oriental with Lucilla.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. The host, Lucilla, went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, offering local tips, helping with transport, and even surprising me with local treats that gave me a true taste of Sicilian culture. The location of the property couldn’t have been better – nestled in a charming neighborhood that was both peaceful and perfectly connected. A short walk from the center and the train station. And if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Etna's eruption right from your window – a truly unforgettable sight. Clean, comfortable, and full of character, the house was a perfect base for my adventures. But it was truly Lucilla's kindness and care that made this stay so special. I left with a full heart, wonderful memories, and a deep appreciation for the warmth of the people in this beautiful part of the world. Highly recommend – and I can't wait to come back!

B&B Oriental Palace was the perfect place for us to stay during our trip to Catania. The location is great, the room very spacious and clean, and Lucilla was a wonderful and generous host. We did not pay for breakfast as we decided we would go to cafes instead, however Lucilla offered for us to use the breakfast room to make tea and coffee and have some light breakfast anyway. She also let us use the fridge in the breakfast room and gave us some local recommendations of things to see and places to eat. Just a heads up that there are many instructions and doors to go through to access the B&B (there is a lift too), however Lucilla gave us all the instructions we needed to check-in and also spoke to us on the phone for extra help if we needed it. We would stay again!

It was not obvious how to lower the outer window shutter to make the room darker for night time, however we could have asked Lucilla who I'm sure would have easily helped us, we just didn't get round to it in our stay!

The host Lucilla was really lovely, explaining how everything worked, especially using the various keys to open the many doors, plus directions to the Alibus stop. As we had to leave before breakfast she prepared a takeaway breakfast for us, which was kind of her. There was serve yourself tea, coffee and biscuits available at all times in the breakfast room.

Once through the outer door on the street, you are in a very large inner courtyard, and at that point there is no further information re: the B&B, so you ideally need to call Lucilla before entering from the street to make sure she lets you into the property.

The whole place was nicely kept and easy walking to the historic square. Beautifully kept, and the proprietors were very accommodating. A very impressive bunch of keys, too. At first, I thought the mood lighting in the shower was odd but ended up liking it. The air conditioning was a welcome treat on warm, humid days. Easy walking to fish market, main shopping, historic square and parts of waterfront.

There was street noise and I don't know if any rooms faced the interior courtyard, which would have been quieter. I walked enough to sleep well anyway, but it is worth mentioning. The rooms are on the 3rd (fourth) floor, so there was some distance from the street.

We enjoyed our stay at B&B Oriental Palace. Wonderful host that met us at check in. She was super helpful, recommending restaurants to go to. Great location walking distance to main attractions, fish market, restaurants and shops. This is the second time we stayed at this location in Catania. We stayed here 6 months earlier. One of the main reasons was the location, walking distance to train and bus terminal. Great location, black out wood shutters help keep noise out, comfortable bed , clean, good shower, good water pressure. Overall happy with room and would recommend it.

The B&B is clean, quiet and comfy. The beds are very comfortable too. Coffee, milk, water and bread/biscuits are always available in the dining area. Walking distance to the bus station where you can take busses to Taormina, Syracuse, Messina, and the airport shuttle Alibus stop is a few steps away. Our host Lucila was extremely kind and provided us with valuable information about the city and it's surroundings

Location is slightly outside the city center, everything is at least 15 minutes walking distance.

Entering the Oriental Palace B&B is a pleasant surprise. It is in a large building that looks a little run down from the outside and the entrance through an enormous door, a courtyard and a slightly rickety lift is interesting, but inside is lovely, well decorated, clean and a nice big room with high ceilings. Was a good place from which to explore Catania for a day. I managed to park for free on the street - I believe white lines are free, blue is pay and display, yellow is residents only.

This is an excellent place to stay. It’s handy for the railway station and the airport bus, it’s located in an old palazzo building behind a front door worthy of a cathedral, and it’s superbly comfortable. My room was spacious and elegant; the bed was just right and the shower was really good. Lucilla the host is very welcoming and helpful. And there’s a lift to save carrying luggage up stairs. I even had a view of Etna in the distance from the balcony.
