This hotel is a historical beauty, I feel so lucky to have found it. Right in the heart of the stunning city of Inverness, We had a fantastic time. On arrival, you walk into the most beautiful lobby area where it has been said the staircase was the inspiration for the staircase on (The Titanic ) no less, you can imagine the fabulous gatherings that would have taken place in such a wonderful venue. The room was clean and well laid out and even though there are still original features such as the sash windows there is surprisingly not much outside noise. The Grand Hall where breakfast is held has a timeless feel and I was taken back at how much of the original beauty remains, the stained glass windows for instance hailing back to the time when The Royal Highland was named The Station Hotel as it is central in the city next to The Inverness station. I like to think of the ladies and gentlemen who would have travelled to grand engagements at this hotel Escorted by a footman from the station to the hotel with trunks containing beautiful garments, perhaps for a New Year's Eve party or some such event. Anyway, it was a fabulous break I would highly recommend it. So many wonderful places to see nearby but also if you choose to venture out to maybe Lochness or a fantastic whiskey distillery there are tours available or you can go your own way, rent a car or take advantage of being so close to public transport with is extremely affordable and reliable. I wanted to stay longer to see more. There is something for everyone at the Royal Highland Hotel.

The wallpaper in my room was lifting. There was a little bit of a damp smell in the lobby maybe from a flood or such likes but it did not detract at all from the beauty for us.

Location is excellent right next to the railway station, but we weren't disturbed. Staff were all extremely helpful bar one person. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast had plenty of options and were refilled throughout. Building is a little dated but is still elegant and has all you need.

Was disappointing to learn that the breakfast included in our deal was continental only. No mention of a further fee to upgrade when I booked , nor when we checked in. The packed breakfast which was organised for us due to an early start was for three people when we had booked four, also fairly difficult to spread Nutella onto bread without a knife and whilst in a moving bus.

It was in a great location, unfortunately the decor let it down as it needs a bit of tlc to make it very impressive

The room we were in needed touching up in places and modernising, others than that it was great

Location

A bit of confusion with regards to breakfast. 1 - says breakfast included, but if you want a hot plate it costs £7 extra. To be honest the continental was lovely, so I wouldn’t bother with the hot plate. 2 - the time of breakfast. When we arrived we were told it was served from 7am. On the website it says the same. We went down for 7am, to be told it’s 7:30. Furthermore if we wanted a hot plate, we would have to wait until 8am. Perhaps explain that to the customers before. Or put the accurate times on the website?

The position in Inverness was brilliant as we were taking part in an event. The receptionist that checked us in was lovely. She remembered us from last year & was so helpful. I just wished I'd got her name. She was blonde with glasses. The food in the Ash restaurant was fabulous, the neeps, Tatties & Haggis was beautiful the sauce was amazing. I had the burger. My friend had Carbonara again both were amazing. The hotel is welcoming and all the staff are friendly & helpful. We had a twin room which was a very good size. Good size bathroom.

I think the pipes have air in them because when u turn the hot tap on it judders and shakes. Also the shower was very very hot and I couldn't get any cold water through it on the night but in the morning the temperature was more adjustable.

We had a fantastic stay at the Royal Highland Hotel! From the start, the receptionist gave us a warm welcome and surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade. Although the lift wasn’t working, it really wasn’t a problem — the elegant staircase had a gentle incline, making it easy to reach our room. Our room was stunning, decorated with beautiful period furniture that reminded us of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which we’d visited just the day before. We enjoyed Afternoon Tea, and the staff kindly prepared it for us even though we arrived close to the end of the sitting time. Dinner at Ash Restaurant was delicious, and we had a great night’s sleep in a gorgeous four-poster bed. The next morning, we enjoyed a tasty breakfast before picking up our car from the Rose Street Multi-Storey Car Park, just a short walk away. Overall, a wonderful experience in a charming old hotel — we’d happily return!

Location, staff, service was all excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s an older hotel. Lots of old world charm. That being said if you’re looking for ultra-modern this is not it. But the shower was amazing. Beds were clean and comfy. The meals were good. And the staff was very accommodating. Only 8 parking spots up front. But we caught one more than not. I’d stay there again for sure.

I personally found no fault in it. But the floors are squeaky and decor is dated. I thought it was charming but some may not agree. Parking is the worst issue. But I got a spot in a parking garage less than 100yds away.

Fantastic location right by the train station. Beautiful reception area with grand staircase makes an immediate good first impression. Staff were helpful but busy at times. Our room was large and very comfortable but didn’t have the best of views which was a shame. Breakfast was continental which was okay - when you select the hotel on Booking.com site it doesn’t tell you this until after you have booked and offers a £7 upgrade for a cooked breakfast option. Overall, a grand old hotel which is looking a bit tired in places but offers a good standard of accommodation in a very central city location.

We didn’t use bar area as didn’t look very comfortable to us (besides there are plenty of options/choices just a short stroll away). As an older property maintenance must be a major headache and it did look a little tired in places.

I had a disabled room. It was very good except for the fact the bathroom floor was quite slippery and the toilet was very low for a disabld person. The bed bed linen and towels were excellent. The continental breakfast was very good with an excellent variety of food and drink available. The staff in there were also very efficient in maintaining the buffet items and clearing pots from tables as soon as they were finished with and also pleasant and helpful.

The cost of evening meal in the restaurant was too expensive for the food being served. All desserts were over £12.00 each.
