I arrived a little early for check in but was attended to with such an enthusiastic welcome. I had an injured knee and requested a bottom bunk and this was sorted out for me. The young man Lourenco who assisted me was absolutely excellent. The next morning while sitting in reception he came over and greeted me by name. Just observing him, I could see he loves his job and is so good with the residents. Thank you Lourenco. From an older person staying in a younger vibe accomodation you treated me with thae same enthusiasm and respect as all the guests.

Quiet yet well-connected apartment just across from bus and metro stops; clean, stylish, and safe, with everything you need—including a fully equipped kitchen with oven, coffee machine, ironing board, dining table, and, in our case, a terrace. Also features a Smart TV and a thoughtful welcome gift of wine and cookies.

All good! Just a note: it’s about a 25–30 minute walk to the city center, or quicker by bus or metro. We didn’t mind the distance, as the central area tends to be quite crowded—even off-season. The apartment has a double-door system on the first floor, so it's very quiet overall. You might occasionally hear the neighbors walking, but it’s not too disruptive.

The location is absolutely unbeatable. Really, really good. Super friendly and helpful staff. I felt very safe in the dorm - access cards used to get into the building, elevator and dorms. Bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean, ironed and smelled nice. Very good breakfast, I’m glad I added that to my booking!

Honestly, I loved most of it, but it was hard to ignore the disgusting showers. Really dirty - lots of black slime/dirt buildup. Pack flip flops! Also do not recommend this location for people who are noise sensitive. I don’t mind noise, and sleep with earplugs, but the street is extremely loud.

Perfect location, clean facilities with 24h reception and friendly staff

-The location is excellent. The value proposition is compelling. The complimentary breakfast was satisfactory. The availability of a free, chilled water dispenser adjacent to a vending machine was a particularly appreciated feature, facilitating convenient hydration for guests. The staff members are readily accessible.

The restrooms were not cleaned on a daily basis. Given that these are shared facilities, daily inspections are recommended to mitigate the risk of skin infections. It would be beneficial to make the under-bed lockers accessible via the existing RFID key system, as this would eliminate the need for guests to purchase separate locks.

The Central House Porto Ribeira We stayed at The Central House Porto Ribeira for 4 days and 3 nights, and it was a great base for exploring Porto. 📍 Location: The hostel is in an excellent central location, making it easy to walk to many major sights: Dom Luís I Bridge, Ribeira riverside, and São Bento Station are just a 3–5 minute walk away. The area is compact and pedestrian-friendly, perfect for sightseeing on your first day. 🏠 Accommodation: The hostel is clean and well-maintained. There's free hot and cold water available 24/7. The staff at the bar are friendly, and there's karaoke at night, which adds to the fun vibe.

Breakfast is decent, though the scrambled eggs were at all times either cold or watery—not the best part. 😂 🔊 Noise: Since it’s located in the central district, expect a lot of car noise at night—earplugs might be a good idea if you're a light sleeper.

Absolutely loved the location with good value for the money. So many good restaurants and cafes nearby. Easily walkable to many major attractions/sights. Nearby to a pharmacy and mini grocery store. I'd still stay here.

The breakfast was alright. There wasn't much of a spread to choose from but the fruit was great. When I first arrived there was someone already in the bed I was supposed to be at, it luckily turned out okay for me because there was no way I could get to the top bunk easily. I would suggest adding in ladder or something to help because getting in and out of the top bunk can be difficult. The person above me almost fell getting down. And if I were to have stayed on the top bunk I wouldn't have been able to get up or down because of my height.

The hostel is located in the heart of old town, yet it doesn't seem too noisy. The breakfast is plentiful and diverse, and includes the famous pastel de nata. The beds are pretty comfortable, and the luggage storage is large, can fit a suitcase and a backpack. There were lots of listings for activities (though I did not try them). Considering the price, it's a great value.

The facilities are rough around the edges -- the door handle of our room was nearly falling out, as well as the one to the bathroom (I reported it, but I had a feeling this has been a matter of affairs for a while). The shower is covered in black mold. There were no flat surfaces to put one's clothes or towel, despite the bathrooms being large. Basically, it needs a bit more care.

The hostel is super central, close to the river and the old town. Also the bed was nice and clean and the private bathroom was a plus. The breakfast was also great, a wide selection of dishes - from fruits and pastries to eggs with bacon and of course coffee.

The hostel is located in a very noisy tourist area, so it is impossible to sleep. My room was extremely noisy all night due to motorbikes and people shouting on the street. Although I was lucky to have quiet and respectful neighbors, it was very difficult to get some rest. The most frustrating thing was that my socket and USB port did not work and I could not charge my phone in bed. Because the hostel was fully booked, the administrator could not offer me another room, and because it was a national holiday there was no way to fix it quickly. So I could not charge my phone for 2 nights, which was very frustrating, because when traveling this is critical.

This is my first experience of staying in a hostel at 47 years old :) I was traveling alone and decided - why not try. And what can I say - everything is great. In the mode when you spend the whole day walking around the city, when you only need to spend the night - great. Of course, there are activities, but I did not have time to visit. The bed is quite comfortable, the linen is clean, there is hot water, there is a socket and USB ports, there is a curtain, individual lighting. In general, everything is fine :) The location is great, minute from the embankment. I would like to separately praise the breakfasts, with such an affordable price, the breakfast should have been much worse. And here the choice is at the level of a decent 3 * hotel.
