A traditional but very comfortable Hotel-Staff were very smart and very kind/helpful.My single room was fantastic (makes a pleasant change to the usual broom cupboard size in most hotels!).. Walk in shower was excellent. Room was very modern/very comfortable/plenty of space and good facilities. Swimming pool was superb. Breakfast was great value served with speed and style. Parking was easy and safe. Out of the main Town so nice and quiet. Grounds were beautiful and well kept. Cleanliness everywhere was a very high standard and noticeable from the moment you walked in/around.

If I could have stayed longer-will do next time.

This traditional hotel in beautiful location with lovely garden and heated outdoor pool always delivers excellent service. The staff are exceptional and always help quickly to resolve any issues

As a single person I dislike the dining room policy of offering a table right next to the entrance or kitchen. Both locations are not great and suggest single diners should be treated the same as couples or groups by being offered tables that are less on show. Have mentioned this many times to the Manager and trust treating single diners more favourably will become normal practice at the Hydro.

Breakfast was fantastic. Good choice and very tasty food. Excellent waiter service. Got a side sea view which we weren't expecting. Lovely lounge areas to sit in for the evenings with friends. Choice of formal dining or relaxed casual dining in the conservatory. Beautiful gardens and terrace with views to the sea. Pool closed when we visited (think it opens in May as outdoor, although heated).

Woodwork in room and bathroom looked rather tired. Shower wasn't very powerful and took a while to get the right temperature. Could do with bigger choice of meals in the conservatory, as it was mainly light snacks (convenient for those who do not want to dress up). Catered well for gluten free, although the bread served could easily be improved (I've had better from the supermarket).

This hotel is consistently excellent. I have stayed there many times and from the moment of arrival a perfect stay is created. Spotlessly clean, lovely location, friendly professional staff and a very special ambiance….it really is the prime jewel in Eastbourne’s Crown. Service by the waiting staff at breakfast is first class….very impressed.

The only thing …and it isn’t important…is the poor presentation of the breakfast. I am a vegan and totally catered for but my breakfast always seems to be thrown on the plate and not resemble a four star hotel. It makes no difference at all really but yesterday I had a plate of baked beans , a vegan sausage and half a grilled tomato…it looked totally unappetising as the plate was swimming in baked beans but it tasted fine! So not really a didn’t like but just a comment !

The room was really nice, including the shower, just perfect. The hotel itself looks really nice, nice gardens too. The continental breakfast buffet was very good. The staff at breakfast truly seemed to be doing their best to cope with the amount of people.

The cooked to order breakfast was good but unfortunately not that hot by the time it got to the table, barely warm, maybe because it was a very busy bank holiday morning. Also, to make things a little bit simpler, when showing people where to sit at breakfast, I think it should be mentioned that the hot food is not part of the buffet and needs to be ordered. It can be confusing otherwise.

Beautiful pool and gardens. Very pleasant bar in the conservatory. Wonderful view and great location. Just a little way out of the town centre, so nice and quiet. Only a short distance to zig zag path through gardens down the hill to promendade along the coast, leading to the sea front (about 20 minutes leisurely walk). Food at breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Room was very stuffy and step into bathroom was a bit hazardous. Twin beds were only pushed slightly apart. We pushed them further apart and discovered a dirty tissue on the floor! Food in conservatory was rather pricey and portion size too big. Breakfast was not very relaxed. Waiters were too efficient, taking our order very soon after our arrival and clearing things off our table before we had finished. We were encouraged to only have food from buffet, or order a cooked breakfast. It was quite crowded and the waiters were rushing around us. Car park was quite small and full when we arrived, however, we could park for free in the road. Lift tiny, with only room for 2 people.

We loved the Hydro Hotel. It's grand, but in a homely way, if that doesn't sound like a contradiction! We arrived early and were able to leave our bags whilst we walked the Seven Sisters. We could take our dog. We were given a room with a side view of the sea, which we weren't expecting, so that was an added bonus. The room was comfy and clean. The staff were really friendly, breakfast was delicious, and the bar was open so we could have a drink when we came back from a meal out. We're hoping to return, preferably between May and Oct when the pool is open.

We have been visiting Hydro over many years and the decor of the rooms and dining room have been well refurbished to a high standard . It was luxurious and spacious and plenty of space to unpack and position our belongings . The pool was amazing !

Unfortunately, service at breakfast in the morning was not the best . The table wasn’t laid for us , no napkins or menus or explanation about what to help ourselves to etc. When mentioned we had no menus our server simply laughed ! There was a long wait and didn’t feel very special . The next day we had room service breakfast and this was outstanding .

Really lovely place. I wished I was staying more than just one night. Although it's big, it doesn't feel overly busy or chaotic. In fact it has a rather genteel air. Very unrushed and non-pushy. Good vegan food and drink options. The pool is great. The building and grounds are attractive. The rooms are soundproof. It's at the pretty end of the town near public walkways down to the sea and onto the cliffs. Quiet and scenic.

It really is a big hotel and there are a LOT of staff. 99% of them are wonderful, efficient and friendly. Conservatory cafe is very nice but a bit pricey (£5 for a coffee). It's a fair distance out of town, not really feasible to go out to eat at night, unless you have a car and don't mind driving. Not really strolling distance to other cafes, bars etc. But then, it has everything you need within it, so this doesn't really matter
