I’ve got fond memories of Eslington Villa. It’s my destination when travelling to the north east. It has new management in place which has hopefully secured the future of this business. Regrettably some of the staff have left but others more than made up for that. The place badly required a lot of work and I’m happy to see work in progress. I look forward to seeing other improvements when I next visit.
I could pick out a number of issues that need attention but I’m very optimistic that improvement will take place. This was evident during our stay and will be ongoing.

We have stayed several times now for when we visit family in the area. It is just so comfortable. It’s an old building so the floors aren’t straight and the floorboards creak but it adds to the charm. In contrast the bathrooms are very modern. Love the lounge where you can have a drink before an evening meal. Food is of a high standard and there is a good selection at breakfast.
Just a personal preference in that we would like to see beans as part of the full English breakfast. We couldn’t get BBC1 or BBC2 to work on the TV. Not really an issue as we weren’t in the room very much.

The staff were really great and could not have been more accommodating and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, the gardens beautiful and the whole atmosphere lovely and peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay.
The breakfast service was a bit chaotic - not the fault of the lovely staff who were doing their very best but it was clear that they were understaffed and perhaps a bit inexperienced. Long waits for coffee, and cooked breakfasts all arriving to the table at different times etc. Not the end of the world at all but a shame given how lovely everything else was.

This was our second visit to Eslington Villa but it has new owners since our last visit and there's always a little trepidation in case things aren't the same. Well, we're delighted to report that it's business as usual and we had another excellent stay. Yes, the fabric of the building needs a little work, but the facilities, cleanliness and warmth of the staff (old and new) made this a very enjoyable stay. Comfy beds, plenty of hot water, lovely breakfast and, above all, excellent staff can't be beaten. We missed Tony's effervescence, but Derek is still there and is a pleasure to meet, same for the other staff too. A bit of a gem in Low Fell, close to major roads and everything you need, at the same time as spacious, characterful rooms set in lovely grounds. we will stay again!
Nothing.

Comfy bed and lovely breakfast. The shower is very powerful. Bathroom modern. Lovely gardens. Good parking. Nice bar. A very old-fashioned English feel to the hotel which is charming. It feels like stepping back in time. Loved the old keys to open and lock my room. You can't really go wrong staying at this charming hotel.
It's such a shame that guests couldn't have breakfast in the dining area with the nice view. The check-in time is 1400, but the reception strongly believed it was 1500. This made me feel a little unwelcome at first, although to be fair, the lady did let me check in early in the end. I would have liked batista Coffee as a choice for breakfast. Room towels could do with replacing. The young lady helping with breakfast on Sunday looked untidy and unprofessional with such a short skirt showing several holes in her tights. These details are important in the overall impression of a hotel.

This hotel offers exceptional value for the price paid. If it had cost 50% more, I wouldn't have been surprised! We stayed in the 'Lilac' room, which was spacious and had excellent quality 'period' furniture, which was in-keeping with the style of room and the ensuite was a large, clean wet room affair, again with quality fittings and luxury towels. We booked for an evening meal in the conservatory, which although it wasn't especially cheap, was delicious and classy. Derek, who looked after us was very attentive, as were all the staff who looked after us. Breakfast was included in the price and was plentiful and very nice indeed also. I don't usually 'gush' about hotels or B&B's etc, but this really does deserve the praise for providing such a pleasant stay, for what we thought was such a reasonable cost. Recommend highly!

We could not find anywhere to stay in city centre due to multiple events on at the weekend so we booked here as it had availability. It exceeded my expectations! Lovely friendly chap on reception on arrival who showed us around and to our room. Room and bathroom were large, clean and bright with all amenities available. Fantastic breakfast served by two very polite and attentive ladies. Lots of choice and beautifully fresh food. Nice big bar area and breakfast room. Plenty of free parking as overflow car park at the rear. Easy to get to and only 10 min drive into town. Very quiet location. Would definitely book again
The bed was quite small (double) and very creaky so didn't sleep very well but it was comfy. Overall it was a lovely place but to make it 10/10 I'd say it just needs a refresh of paint in the communal areas, toilets etc but not a negative to staying.

We stayed in the apartment which was great for our family of 4. Plenty of space, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and washing machine. Stairs to apartment are steep so just bear this in mind. Breakfast is great. Plentiful, good options and very tasty.
First impression was not good. After travelling 30 hrs from Oz we arrived around 1.30pm. I had previously messaged hotel asking re early check in, but not got a response. As we entered the front door the staff members first words were “you know you can’t check in until 3?”. We said ok (but mentioned the request) and asked to leave our bags. Staff member looked at us as if we were crazy- and said “I don’t know where’. We did end up leaving bags (managed to find a spot), and came back at 3, but it was a woeful first impression.

The place is beautiful and grand with period features around the building. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and professional. It is a lovely place to come and relax. The family room is really great if you are staying with your children, as it has two double beds. What a great place to come, with so much to do and not far away .The staff were also really helpful in moving us to a quiet part of the hotel on our second bight when we had to move rooms from tge family room as it was already booked.
Some of the paint work could to with a touch up.
