The whole experience was good. I know this is not a regular hotel room and restricted in terms of the space based on the concept of jail rooms. We did stay here couple of years before and I think we had the same experience this time as well, except for the fact that we had kids this time. Right in the old town area and easily accessible to attractions by walk. Free public transport included in the cost!

I think it will be good to have some proper arrangements of fans especially in summer. There is one table fan but that does not help if you are sleeping on the top of the bunk bed. In the restricted space available, some innovative way of proper airflow for all roommates will be of great help

If you are in to quirky places, this is the hotel for you. Formerly a prison, the original cell doors are intact with a modern hotel lock added as only makes sense. The beds are comfortable, the added bathroom beyond adequate, Maybe not luxurious, but very nice. The staff are outstanding and deserve all the stars that I can give them. They were wonderful. There are a number of good eateries within just a very short walk and we ate at several of them. The historic Luzern wall is just a reasonable walk away and even the train station and accompanying shopping is well within walking distance, especially without luggage. The river is a very short walk away.

While the hotel was fine for our circumstances, it is NOT a luxury hotel. We were there during a heat spell, so the lack of air conditioning was very apparent. We were on the top floor and opened the (iron barred) window so we did OK but it wasn't perfect. Because space is limited in a prison cell, there was not a desk or refrigerator but I understand why. All in all it was a pleasant stay.

This room was such good value for money, comfortable beds, fantastic water pressure, clean fluffy pillows. Literally everything you need. We even got two fans and with the windows open we're absolutely fine. Fantastic location smack close to everything. Staff were wonderful and helpful. We filled our water bottles in the breakfast room. Luggage storage was free and safe. Top tip buy your souvenirs and chocolates at the co op. It's the cheapest and it's literally opposite the hotel. Great little town for walking around and exploring pilatus. We only stayed one night and I would highly reccomend if you are just travelling with hand luggage.. please bear in mind this is a converted prison and it is a novelty which offers great value and comfort.

Everything was wonderful. Thank you to Natty and colleagues.

Very friendly staff, good location in the center. interesting atmosphere inside - realize that this is a former prison, we had a room - a former library, the walls of the room had shelves with real books, it was unusual and interesting! Shower had good water pressure. Breakfast was good - good quality products, everything was tasty, the only thing, we were missing some vegetables.

Of the shortcomings in the room is quite dark lighting, the pillow - very soft, we both had a headache in the morning. Socket - only in one place in the room, although they give an extension cord. The room is of normal size, but due to the fact that the walls are occupied by books - there are practically no shelves, and in the closet - only 2 hangers for 2 people - not enough.

The location was in the centre of the old town exactly where you want to be near all the attractions. The showers were so so clean and nice. The best hostel I have ever stayed at- really social and friendly. Female only rooms The bunk beds were really easy to get on. Staff so friendly and helpful giving me a map and personalised recommendation.

A bit of noise from the bar downstairs but was a saterday and didn’t really bother me! THIS IS A HOSTEL AND HOTEL! Please be aware of this when booking, I am reviewing as a hostel and it was perfect- much better than any Swiss youth hostel chains I stayed in!

The vibe of the hotel, being an old jail, meant that you literally stay in one of the cells. It's located very central in the old town and convenient to transport and restaurants. When I arrived, I only had 24 hours in Lucern and wasn't really sure what I was going to do but the lady on reception immediately gave me some options for sightseeing, and I chose to take the lake cruise, train ride to Mount Rigi and then the gondala back down the mountain to catch the ferry back to Lucern. This turned out to be a fabulous day and I was able to purchase my tickets from reception at the hotel.

The history of the hotel as a prison and all the prison format throughout. Staff were great in advising us on logisitics. We checked in very late which was a bonus. Very clean throughout and nice breakout dining room facility which was free to use.

Windows in room were very small and didnt let much air in. It was warm at night and there was only a little fan to provide ventilation and cooling. But understand the limitations of such a hotel. Parking also was in a multi story 5mins walk away which was fine but very pricey for a day.

I liked everything! Heidi was so helpful in giving me tips on which mountains to visit with my Swiss travel pass, the location is a 10-min walk from the train station + a few with the Lucerne museum, the 6 bedroom dorm was not full, and there was a lot of space to open our baggage. Interesting story - it used to be a jail and there is a gallery inside telling the history. My room mate and I enjoyed watching the snow by our window on Dec 22🤗🥶

Nothing big to comment! Our female dorm was right in front of offices across the street (I think) so, to be sure, we always have to have our curtains closed.

We loved the cleanliness of our double room and the smell when you first walked in. Our towels were changed daily which was lovely and room tidied. The staff that greeted you at reception were also very friendly with one of them offering us a map and showing us multiple places to go around the city. Good location in the old town, little bit further away but still very close to everything.

The only thing that wasn’t 100% was no air conditioning however our room had a small fan which was lovely and the room wasn’t overly hot in general.

This quaint converted-prison as a hotel room was interesting, convenient and comfortable. We booked it for the proximity to the train station. It was an easy 5-7 minute walk. The room was modest. Bed was comfortable and clean. Suitable for two people to stay for a short while. There are no extra amenities (like a coffee maker, or kettle, or indeed anything else). An in-house restaurant and neighborhood eateries make up for this, though. We enjoyed spicy Indian dishes at a delicious restaurant next door to this property.

Some idiot violated the rules and smoked inside one of the rooms, setting off the fire alarm at 6:30 AM. The hosts quickly evaluated it, found the cause, and calmed down guests.
