Pros: - Friendly reception - Rooms are comfortable and clean. The bunks are designed to give you some privacy and a nice long shelf with power points and lights. Temperature was consistent even during summer. - Kitchen has equipment so you can make meals. Please note it’s an industrial kitchen so please make sure you keep an eye on your food and smoke as to not trigger any alarms. - Cleaning staff are very passionate about their job. - Does have one washer and dryer but it only takes Swiss francs. Come prepared. - The location is a few steps from the station. Incredibly close. - This accomodation was beautifully aesthetic on the outside with lovely flowers. - Bathroom was clean and new.

Cons: - Note only one shower per floor. So just keep in mind to take a shower in the evening or late morning to avoid the rush. - Cleaning lady yelled at me and another tourist when we entered the kitchen when she was cleaning the floors. Recommend the hotel to include a sign so people don’t enter during cleaning times.

Our stay at Hotel Bahnhof was truly enjoyable. The location is unbeatable—right next to the train station and within walking distance of key spots like the gondolas. The rooms are clean, cozy, and well-maintained, with beautiful views, especially the Matterhorn-facing balconies. The fully equipped kitchen is a big plus for self-catering. A special shoutout to Aggie, the receptionist, whose warm and friendly service made our stay exceptional. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the hotel offers great value for anyone visiting Zermatt.

While there is no lift available, which meant carrying our luggage up to the third floor, the hotel does provide a luggage room on the ground floor for convenience. It’s something to keep in mind, but it didn’t take away from the overall comfort and excellent experience of our stay.

The convenient location next to the train station, Gornergrat Station and the Coop Market. Although they do not offer breakfast (you can order bacon & eggs across the street at the Bahnhof Buffet which opens at 7AM), they offer kitchen facilities downstairs that include two refrigerators where guests can store their food and tables to eat on. We saved a ton of money buying food from Coop Market! We enjoyed our room with a balcony & partial view of the Matterhorn. The cold mountain water coming out of the kitchen sink was better than bottled water!

Amazing location! Steps from the train station for easy arrival. I stayed on the ground floor in an all female dorm with 8 beds. The bunks were the most solid I have ever stayed in. My lower bunk faced the window and I had a lot of privacy. It was also very quiet to outside noise & I always wear earplugs. There are sensor lights in the dorm to save people turning on lights if leaving early etc. I used the shower, it was clean and whilst hotel totally full I didn’t have to wait for the toilet or shower. The kitchen downstairs was large, I used the kettle & fridge only. If you are only here for 1-2 nights this is perfect, it’s so close to everything. I would not have booked if my room was upstairs as I had a large case. There is no elevator due to the age of the original Swiss style hotel. Female dorm is on the ground floor. Grateful there was an affordable option (whilst still expensive) for travellers to see Zermatt and experience the beautiful mountain town.

Apparently you could rent sheets for the dorm beds, I wasn’t offered any & would have expected them for better hygiene given the price of the dorm. It was a doona and pillow with covers. No sheets. The reception were above and beyond friendly and helpful, however their opening hours are only during the day until about 6pm.

Location and value for the area was great. Staff was nice and courteous and friendly. The building is literally right across from the train station and has easy access to all services needed in the community. Other hikers staying there as well and getting an early start was easy!

Of course a room would have been better than just a "nook" for myself. But, having said that- my nook did provide a bit of separation and personal space. You just have to know that you are not renting a room but a "space". This hotel is much nicer than many other hostels that typically only have bunk beds.

The location was great, close to the station which was great for someone with bad knees! The room was clean and comfortable and had restaurants/ coffee right underneath. We were able to store our baggage in the ski room after checkout so we could enjoy our morning. We didn’t see the staff as we checked in late, checked out early and picked up our luggage during their break!

No lift, but we were only on the first floors so all good. It was quite hot and there was no fan so had to have the windows open over nightly. Luckily the people below retired reasonably early otherwise it would have been quite noisy.

An excellent location! Steps away from the station and within walking distance to all the shops and ski lifts. The beds were comfortable and had lots of counter space. On my first night I got unlucky and got the only bed that faces the room. Anyone walking into the room could see me at all times and there wasn't a convenient place to put my suitcase. Only one toilet and shower on the floor but was never crowded

The front desk woman was so giggly and just so happy go lucky , it made my stay there actually a bit more colourful in a way? But after all , perfect location because the train station is right in front of the doorstep, and theres a ski room , that you can get access to from even outside of the hotel (meanign you dont have to get to the front desk and get through people that are trying to check in) , its just perfect location, less than a minute walk from the gornergrat railway station i think thats what its called but yeap, basically perfect location, and it has washing machine and dryer too.

Everything was perfect! Agi is very helpful. She provided every information and support during my stay. The kitchen is well equipped. Toilets are clean and always supplied with tissues, not like other hostel. Safe. Good space of luggage storage Nice balcony with the view of Matterhorn Close to metro, literally 1min walk from the hostel Just next to Gornergrat Station. 5mins walk to sunnega station 3mins walk to Coop 5mins walk to Migros Just keep in mind that this is a hostel, dont expect elevator or bell boy to carry your luggage up to your room so travel light

The location couldn’t be more convenient, especially when arriving with luggage or planning excursions. What could have turned into a disastrous experience due to being snowed in, instead became one of the highlights of our trip – all thanks to Agi, the hotel manager. With hundreds of confused and stressed travelers seeking help, Agi remained calm, kind, and incredibly patient. She answered every single question with a smile, constantly providing new updates and reassurance to everyone. Her dedication and hospitality were truly exceptional.
