This hotel was a great find. I don’t understand why the reviews are so subdued. The location is perfect, with access to the ski slopes just across road, on a burbling rivulet, on edge of town centre, view of Matterhorn, near bars but not affected by noise…. Run by lovely family. It’s a simple hotel, appropriately cost effective, and clean, comfortable and cosy. No frills but if you’re there for the skiing or hiking then it’s all you need.

Nothing not to like.

The property was a nice cozy barebones place to rest up at night, grab a quick breakfast in the morning, pop on your gear and head up to the slopes right across the street! The view and the location were amazing and the staff was wonderful. The ski room kept our boots warm and cozy and our gear safe and out of the way.

I wish it wasn’t booked so we could have stayed longer! In the future I would book a separate room for the kids if possible because the sofa bed was terribly uncomfortable.

The location is a big plus, since is right next to ski lifts, buses, and trains. Also, the price per night, comparing to the other offers in Zermatt, is one of the best offers. The rooms was everything you need, specially if you just want just a short stay to go explore the surrounding mountains and cities (for us we went to explore the Glacier Express, and was exactly what we need).

There are quite a few bars around the hotel, so there are a lot of people and music noise that you can hear from the room. This noise ends not so late and gets quite quiet afterwards, but if you have a young enfant could be a challenge.

The location is fabulous and the family who run the hotel looked after us really well. Our room was spacious and had an amazing view of the Matterhorn. Breakfast is well organised with a good selection. The stubli style bar is very welcoming and had a great apres ski vibe.

The main drawback is the lack of a lift for transporting luggage although the family were happy to help carry luggage upstairs. A wider selection of food in the evening would have persuaded us to stay longer in the bar!

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cheminee, a family run hotel. The best feature was the view from the balcony on the top floor, really stunning. The beds were comfy and we slept well. The interactions with the staff were pleasant and some of the family engaged more than others, but were friendly. Zermatt town is great as is the skiing and the hotel is perfectly positioned for the Sunnegga ski lifts. Breakfast was decent value given the high prices in Zermatt. It was lovely to stay there over Christmas!

Some may find the pillows quite thin and would need a more substantial pillow. if you book the standard double on the top floor you won't be able to stand under the shower, but there is a bath, but nof a major inconvenience. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

Breakfast was nice, location was also central and 10 mtrs from Sunugga station.Size of room was great and spacious balcony. Very clean property.

No tea / coffee making facility, pillows are terrible flat and you only get one. Bath towels are a little thin and small. Need some background music in the breakfast area. Breakfast lady keeps an eye on everyone I feel, can be uncomfortable at times. Shoes to be left outside you room…..I take my shoes off when I get inside anyway but I didn’t feel it neassary to leave them outside my door on tray, no snow in summer.

The hotel is conveniently located near both the train and bus stations, which is perfect for first-time travelers to Zermatt, especially considering the hilly terrain. I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of my room and the stunning Matterhorn view it offered. The option for daily cleaning provided by the hotel was a nice touch. I decided to go for the breakfast option for one day, and it was very reasonably priced compared to the rest of Zermatt's dining scene. The staff, who I believe are family members, were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Thank you for a wonderful welcome.

Beautiful, roomy bedroom with timber trimmings, elevated ceiling and a balcony. We were able to open the door and window to enjoy the fresh air and cool the room during the warm weather. The beds were very comfortable. A hand shower is in the bath. It would have been nice to have a kettle to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room after the long train trip from Zurich. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals, juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheese, meats. croissants and bread plus a choice of eggs. cooked your way and beverages..

The hotel does not have a lift. Despite our prior request for a room close to the ground floor, our request was overlooked and we actually ended up on the top fourth floor. The bonus was the view and being able to stargaze through the skylight window in the bathroom which offered extra ventilation during the unusually hot weather.

Very clean room with a comfortable bed. It was a nice size with a balcony. Only wished we stayed on the side with a view of the Matterhorn. The location was good, right near the river which was lovely to listen to at night. It took us some time to locate the hotel, only to find out in was basically straight down the road from the train station. I wished our reservation came with some directions. Our room was only accessible by stairs and were on the 4th floor which was fine for us, but may not work out well for people with mobility issues. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. They had the best breakfast of all the places we stayed. Plus the atmosphere was pleasant with some nice views.

The bathtub was clean and modern, but not a good design. You basically had to sit to "shower", but then couldn't reach the soap. It was also difficult to get out of. Relocating the shower head to a normal above-the-head position would be really helpful. Other than that, everything was really nice.

The location was just a short walk around the Gornergrat railway, which is located just across from the train station. Breakfast was plentiful. Good variety of food to choose from. Both hot and cold. I was looking forward to a steak dinner, but unfortunately for me it's only available in the winter time.

The weather, but unfortunately the hotel can't control that.
