Location, the pool, the staff

Could do with decor change inside the communal area, too much old carpet. They charge £15 a day for guest to park. The place also locks up after a certain hour and every time I want to go out for a cigarette, I need to inform the night manager to open the door, which feels a bit too much. Otherwise a lovely hotel in a great location and wonderful staff. The swimming pool is wonderful.

Old school hotel- Easy and clean place to stay. Out season parking €15 — comfortable.

The location is great - a five minute walk to the beach, and it was good value for money. We particuarly like the outdoor pool and returned here after a previous visit for that reason. Our room was well equipped and comfortable, and looked like it had been recently refurbished. The bathroom was large and light, though a little dated, but this didn't bother us at all. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the coffee at the bar is really good - a rarity these days!

The last time we came to stay we had breakfast included but found the quality quite poor, so we didn't include breakfast this time

I had a family view room, top floor, fantastic view and huge room. Room was very clean, well kept and good layout with loads of space. Pool was a good size and we had a good overall stay.

Even though the terrace door and windows were open the room was very hot. Even when it was 24 with fan the whole family had disturbed sleep on top of the covers. Seemed to be a lot of heat coming from the floor, not sure there were hot water pipes in there etc. Breakfast was expensive and very average. Premier inn breakfast quality, but at twice the price. Pastries and cooked elements the weakest.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing for the cost. I’m a continental eater, there was limited options. The jam in a jar was not appealing, the fruit was not the best and the yoghurt was again not appealing in the large jar and spoon to decanter. Would have been nice to see a bit more variety and quality. The juice was nice, the hot drinks were good. My daughter always has scrambled egg and toast but she didn’t like the scrambled egg so all she had was toast and a croissant. So for cost, it wasn’t worth it for us. I would have been better off grabbing a milk shake and a croissant from the supermarket for £3. Can’t comment on the hot food myself.

The location is great for a few minute downhill walk to the centre of the seafront and beach access, and also a few minutes to the shopping areas and concert venues. Car park is quite large and totally secure. Check-in and staff were super friendly and helpful. It’s an old building so it’s charming, traditional and cosy not gleaming and minimalist. The cold water outdoor pool is open through the winter and is beautifully kept and located in lovely pool surrounds at the front of the hotel with views to the sea. We absolutely loved our cold water dips there and the hotel pool towels were lovely. Bar and lounge areas were very comfy with great service. We booked too late to get a sea view supplement room but we’re lucky to get a room on tje end of tje hotel so we had a lovely view of the sea all the way down the coast to Old Harry Rocks through our big bay window. Bedroom was big, bathroom was nice, bed was big and the room was nice with the radiator temprature adjustable and nice and warm. We had a lovely time.

The room had everything you could wish for, however, it was a very warm room. That said, a fan had been provided which was very useful on the hot days we had. All the staff at the hotel were wonderful - so very friendly and customer focused, nothing was too much trouble for any of them. I cannot fault their hospitality skills.

The only slight criticism I have is that the bathroom was very small - not much room to move about in there, and nowhere to store toiletries etc. At the end of the day though, this wasn't a big deal as time spent in the bathroom is very limited anyway! The only other negative is that, whilst the hotel is very clean indeed, maintenance is required on the windowsills in the rooms, however, being a very old hotel this is something which will always be 'ongoing'.

My wife and I enjoyed our weekend stay at the Marshall Court Hotel. The location was ideal, and the room was spacious. However, we did notice there were three beds—one double bed and two singles—which we found unnecessary, though it didn’t significantly bother us. The only aspect of our stay that was disappointing was the shower, which lacked water pressure. Apart from that, our experience was excellent. The customer service was outstanding, particularly one of the bartenders, Cat, who went above and beyond in serving us. Additionally, the reception staff were all friendly and welcoming.

Overall, it was a great weekend

I usually don’t return to the same place twice, but this hotel has definitely won our hearts, and we’ve already stayed here three times. Of course, the rooms with an ocean view are the cherry on top, but even if you’re not ready to pay extra, you can still enjoy your stay in a more standard room without a special view. The beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are regularly cleaned. The room has everything you need – tea, a kettle, and coffee. Besides offering breakfast, which has a wide variety of options, the hotel also provides lunch or dinner. The food is delicious, and if you decide to spend your vacation at the hotel, you won’t regret it. The atmosphere is always festive due to the many events that take place. The little bar on the ground floor is very cozy and is the perfect way to end the day. The pool is great and warm, which is a plus if you have kids. When it’s sunny, it’s best to grab a sun lounger early. Right across from the hotel, there’s a fascinating house museum where you can easily spend hours. Close to the pier and the high street.

I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.
